My understanding is that rewards are not earned on any portion of your order that is-paid for with either rewards or account credit.

I’m not concerned with earning rewards on what I purchase, just whether I can use the code and pay for the balance with my already-earned rewards? i.e. $75 - $20 code = $55 pay with existing rewards balance

Not an expert like @MISTERCHEAP or @MrVietnam but I have definitely used a percentage off coupon code then paid with rewards on the reduced amount.
So that should work for you…
