Visit a minute KEY kiosk and enter code: FMAY000000 to get a Free Key made
Ends May 31
Those are 6 “zeros” in the code, not the letter O
Be sure to use this code quickly, last time they did this they pulled the promotion early.

The code is still working. Also works on keys with colors/designs.
FWIW: machines with see-through fronts that lets you see the carousel full of key blanks also gives you the option to electronically store your key pattern in case you need to replace a lost key.

@fivetalents Where did you find a kiosk that was open? The closest to me is at WM and they’ve closed all their self service kiosks d/t COVID19.

2 Walmarts and a Lowes.
The bank of various self-serve kiosks at Walmart were open and operable (I used the one that was in a empty separate room, not the one in the entry way with heavy traffic).
The one at Lowes was up font between 2 checkout lines.
Before using, I doused my hands with sanitizer and used a fresh sanitizing wipe to touch the screen, sanitize my original key, and to retrieve and sanitize the new key.

@fivetalents thanks. Going to have to travel to find an open kiosk. Useless to try to call WM but might be able to call HD and Lowe’s to find out if their kiosks are open. So you did one key per kiosk?

Not quite… I chose to do the deadbolt key on the way into Walmart. Then while shopping it occurred to me to at least try the large Yale key instead of assuming it wouldn’t be accepted (after an error message, it worked by pushing it in and holding it firmly). Those two keys had a design and seemed flimsy/bendable, so when I happened to spot the kiosk at Lowes I decided on the spot to redo them both in the basic brass color. I’m glad I did because 2nd set felt thicker and much sturdier. I had to run into the 2nd Walmart briefly, to grab something the 1st one didn’t have, when I noticed the MK kiosk for the first time (must have walked past it countless times ), but I didn’t use it.

@fivetalents I’m looking to make a key for cat sitters. Won’t get used very often so I was just going to get one cat faced key. So the lesson learned is that if one wants a key that will be used regularly to get the brass colored one. The error for the Yale lock was because of the key size?

I had convinced myself the Yale was too large because only small keys were shown on screen. So, when I got the error message I thought I was right for a moment but also noticed the key rotated slightly to the right when the machine grabbed it, so I tried again successfully.

Minute Key kiosks were previously in Menard’s stores…however, it now appears that Menard’s has switched to KeyMe kiosks?
Minute Key kiosks are also located in select Sherwin-Williams and select Home Depot locations.
