Staples ink recycling $30 spend requirement - are ink rewards eligible?

Hi, I’ve had trouble finding the answer but if I roll over my ink recycling rewards, do those count towards the $30 spend requirement to requalify for ink recycling, or do I need to pay via staples gift card/credit/debit/cash?

They do not count. They are essentially coupons, and do not count towards any sort of spend. Make sure you use one of the % Back coupons when buying the ink, as that does not reduce your spend…

@scooter0754 Although today (7/8/2021) is the second Thursday of the month, I did not get ink rewards today.
In a chat session, I was told it would be next week, 7/15 before they were awarded. YMMV…?

@c3 Not to belabor this (although I guess I am), I’m not seeing this ink rewards info on my rewards page, logged in as a “Plus” member.
That is, https://www.staples.com/grs/rewards/sr/rewardscenter any tab selected, including “Ink & toner recycling”.
So I’m wondering now if only “Premium” members get the skinny on exactly when the ink rewards ship comes in?

@c3 Thanks for the screenshot. As a Plus member, I only see/saw “Welcome, [my name]” at that spot at the top.
Not only that, but here on the 15th, I’m not seeing any Ink Rewards, despite recycling 20 cartridges in June (see below).
Now I’m wondering if my “ink or toner spend in last 180 days”, which shows as $30.48, doesn’t qualify for some reason?
No doubt I used some coupon to hit that, but would they show you some pre-coupon amount on this page, of all pages?
Guess I need to check later today, and if the same thing call Staples support for more info…

There are 2 separate issues. First, your reward amount is wrong. Does your “purchase details” show the correct “Rewards Earned”?
Second, the message now says: “July Statements will be available on 07/25”. This is very odd. I think a change is coming.

Can’t agree about a change (not even sure what you mean by a ‘change is coming’). Typically major changes take place on Jan 1 of the new year, and almost always, we’re told of upcoming changes at least 60 days prior. They’ve run into delays before with issuing rewards checks, as long as they extend the expiration as to not penalize people, I’ll live with it. Everything looks right on mine as far as having earned $40 for the carts I dropped off in June.

I think they probably screwed up. Their systems always seem to run slow, and maybe they’re running even slower this time. Who knows. I just reached out to CSR and got this
Yes, rewards will be payout on 07/25/2021. I’m sorry about this, but kindly give us a chance to get it on the 25th.

I have no idea, since I don’t have any inside info. They posted the first delay 7/15 either at the end of June or very early July. I have never seen a message like that, way before something is due. 7/25 itself is an odd day, Sunday, not a regular corporate business day.
I’m waiting for the next reward coupon so I can combine it with one that expires on 7/31. With this delay, I won’t have much time to use it.

anything is possible I guess, but no doubt it is annoying. You’d think they’d communicate better with people, it’s like “we’ll send them when we’re ready” type stuff.

yes, IF they are all unexpired when you go to redeem them. Will be close with the September rewards however.

@c3 Ok, today (8/12) is the second Thursday of August. Just tried checking my Staples Rewards summary and I get this:
"We are unable to load your rewards summary for this period. Please refresh the page and try again."
Anybody else? I recycled 20 cartridges in July. I know Staples was late on this rewards biz last month…

@ukedog I received email that I have $40 in new Rewards and $40 not yet used expiring 9-15. I haven’t checked to see if the Rewards are actually there but I have no reason to doubt it as the email has the Rewards 16-digit code.

Can someone tell me where to find the last date I can recycle based on my ink purchase?
There used to be a box that said “You can recycle until xxx” so one knew when one had to buy ink again. Does that information still exist on the Rewards site?
Now all I see is “Current ink or toner spend in the last 180 days: $xxx”.

I just chatted and CSR gave me the info which I wasn’t able to find on the site.
In the process I was told "The credit for August will be issued no later than 09/08/2021."
That’s pretty early but means that it can stack with the Rewards expiring 9-15 and 9-30.
