Amex Bluecash Everyday card 3% CASH BACK on U.S. online retail purchases
-
I received this email today from Amex. It sounds like everyone with this card is eligible, and it seems like a permanent feature. Hard to find 3% for online purchases on a permanent basis. Usually 2% is best. However, I would say that online bill pay is not a purchase. It further states:
There are more ways to earn from the Card you love. You can now access over $250 back every year on services you can use every day, plus earn 3% back on up to $18,000 per year on select purchases. Here’s how:
You will earn a reward of 3% on the first $6,000 of eligible purchases in a calendar year (then 1%) at supermarkets located in the U.S. (superstores, convenience stores, warehouse clubs, and meal-kit delivery services are not considered supermarkets); 3% on the first of $6,000 of U.S. online retail purchases (then 1%), 3% on the first $6,000 of purchases of gasoline at gas stations located in the U.S. (then 1%), (superstores, supermarkets and warehouse clubs that sell gasoline are not considered gas stations); 2% on eligible purchases at select department stores located in the U.S. through 10/31/22.

Interesting. I’ve only used this card for the 3% back on groceries. Is the 3% back on gas new too? I thought gas and everything else were 1%.

BofA Customized Cash, 3% + 75% more = 5.25% with Preferred Rewards status.

Seems like a good card to have. I have Blue Cash Preferred now, but will soon downgrade to this card.

I’m currently toward the end of a year upgraded to preferred for free, but if I recall, gas is 2% back for the Everyday card. Since they aren’t offering the 3% on retail for the preferred version, I definitely plan to downgrade again when my free year expires.

FYI- Looks like the $25 minimum cash redemption amount is gone too, I just redeemed ~ $3 in cash back!!! That is huge for me… I hate waiting.

gas is now 3% back on Everyday. Maybe you meant 2% on Preferred?

Sorry, I meant to say that it was 2% for gas on the Everyday card, before this change. Not 1%. Department stores were also 2% (as of 8/2021, at least).

Heads up, looks like ebay purchases count for the 3% online retail purchases. I bought an item from a third-party seller and it shows up on my recent activity as a 3% cashback purchase.
