Does anyone know if Coke and/or AMC are planning to extend the expiration dates on Tickets, Drinks and Popcorn prizes that are expiring on 6/30/20?

I would hold onto those. There was a slickdeals poster who posted a quote from AMC Theatres facebook posts/replies that said they might extend the expiration date on those. But then again it was from a customer service/social media intern, probably

    Still no official word though.

I received an email today entitled “Your 2019 AMC Concession Award” which said this: In 2019 you won a reward for an AMC concession. If you’ve been holding on to it and have not redeemed your concessions item, the expiration date will now be extended to 12/31/20 to account for theatre closures. Please note that this only applies to AMC concessions rewards that cite a 6/30/20 expiration date and that have not been used yet.

I just got the same email. Wanted to save my concession awards for a movie I wanted to watch. Thank goodness!

Unfortunately it might not be until around 12/31/20 that there’s a vaccine out for Covid-19. Personally, I wouldn’t dare go to a theater until then. My good health/life is more important to me than a large popcorn.

OTOH, if they aren’t safe enough to stay open, they’ll close up again and possibly reset the date once more. Whether AMC is still around if that scenario plays out - who knows.

  • @mrvietnam
Personally speaking I would NEVER get a new vaccine esp. one that is rushed to market. I’m not in the medical field although I’m extremely familiar with the pharmaceutical business and the stock market. Also, common sense is not very common. Just be careful Mr. V. is all I’m saying. Maybe just maybe we let Covid 19 run its course even though it will have unwanted consequences. Maybe just maybe that’s nature’s way (evolution). Just my two cents.

If we let Covid19 runs its course, however, easily a million people would die from it before we reached herd immunity. I think now a study was done and only 8-10% of the population has been exposed to it and already killed 129,000. Can’t wait to see what the next virus coming out of China will be, Yesterday in the news they said om China there is a new swine flu that could easily become a pandemic.

I concur but there are 8 billion people in the world. Nobody wants to lose a loved one and I don’t have an answer for that. Diseases thrive in densely populated areas. The earth just has too many people to begin with.

lawoman, that was from six months ago when they were still doing the prepaid card giveaway and $25,000 check prize giveaway. Coca-cola cut way back on their rewards.

Previously you would just have to open the coca-cola app on a smartphone, go to the experiences tab, and select the contest. Then you would be prompted for a sip & scan icon, which is on the bottle’s label.

For those with outdated versions of Android, it is tougher to have the latest version of the app because after about three years they stop receiving operating system updates, which means you can’t use the latest version of the coca-cola app.

Anyone hear, see or receive anything about those Coke Rewards that they extended thru 12/31/20? Wondering if they will extend them again, since Theaters in my area are still closed. They did open for a short time, but with massive limitations/restrictions, and not much traffic, I’m guessing. I certainly didn’t feel comfortable going there at that time.

I’ve dropped a note to Coke and am awaiting a response. The last time, the email extension that came out was on the last day of the redemption period, 6/30/20, so maybe they’ll wait to the last minute again…but it being New Year’s Eve makes me wonder.

Got an answer back from Coke on the AMC rewards that originally expired on 6/30/20, but which were extended to 12/31/20:

    Thanks for contacting Coke.com.

We are sorry you have not been able to use your outstanding AMC concessions rewards that have an expiration date of 6/30/2020. Those rewards have been extended to 12/31/20. AMC Theaters has been instructed to honor the coupons through the end of the year. You can take the same coupon to redeem them. If there are any issues, be sure to speak to a Theater Manager about this or the AMC customer support for additional assistance.

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us again; and be sure to check out our virtual agent Chip and our chat team at Coke.com . Ask Chip for assistance; then, if you’d like to chat with a live person, simply type the word “Chat.”

I guess they are not extending them past 12/31/20? The movie theaters in my area have been closed ever since mid-March.

  • 2K Club

@mrvietnam Worst case scenario I’m seeing is that if the theater is open like in Michigan (no concession sales except carry out), that you could get in and use the Popcorn and Drink coupons for that. Maybe also check with the Mgr and see if they are willing to exchange the coupon(s) for unexpiring AMC tickets of some sort that would be equivalent value, as the theater should be getting reimbursed for each of these that we use/turn in, so it may be in their best interest to work with us…

  • @Connman @MrVietnam

There have been reports of either the popcorn or the drink not working when scanning before 12/31/20, so you might not have missed out on much. People had to get a manager override and basically get it for free on goodwill, rather than Coke reimbursing AMC.

I’ve written off all of the popcorn/drinks. I might have to write off a couple of tickets too, but hopefully not.

  • 2K Club

@ctujackbauer I wrote the Popcorn and Drinks off as well - more interested in the tickets anyway, and none of those has expired so far!

  • JFYI - YMMV - But Saw a movie over the weekend and had a drink and Popcorn Coke Rewards coupon with me. Both Expired June 2020 - All i SAID was can I have a large drink and large popcorn. He scanned the coupons and said these are good and handed my Soda cup and bucket of popcorn. ( I had tried to use coupons back in January and after those where scan the attendant said they showed expired, at that time he just took the coupon and gave me the food.) I still have 2 more of each left and plan on seeing another soon.
