I’m certain that this generous $3 no-rush offer is to relieve the unprecedented burden on their infrastructure as they’re getting hammered with a vastly increased number of orders as much of the country practices social isolation/sheltering in place.

It seems unreasonable to expect on time deliveries during such perilous times, particularly given the very real sacrifices being made to ensure our health, safety, and comfort. Requesting the ~$5 Prime late delivery courtesy credit during a pandemic violates the spirit of the policy IMHO, since things are not business as usual and we’re fortunate that they can even still operate.

It’s not often that I can defend Amazon’s business practices, but they’re actually trying to do right by the country (customers and employees alike) right now, so maybe say thanks/I’ll pitch in by accepting the $3 no-rush credit… and maybe don’t give them reason to reexamine that $5 credit when things calm down because so many tried to exploit it when Amazon was vulnerable through no fault of their own.

Thanks, that’s likely the way they’re going to play it given that they’re not bothering to reimburse you for freezing your credit at the other bureaus. That makes the free freeze useless if you ask me. If you’re on the breach list, they should have the decency to give you lifetime freezing/unfreezing privileges for free. If you were planning on opening a new credit account in the near future, it may be best to do it before you initiate your free freeze.

The more I think about the freeze/unfreeze thing and being charged bogus fees for it, the more ridiculous it seems. In light of the inability for any company or agency (including the federal government) to protect private data from hackers, there should be a law that all accounts are always frozen. Whenever anyone wants to access your report, you’d then log into your bureau account, request a unique , time limited, one time use access code that is emailed to you. You then give it to whomever you’ve authorized to access your credit. Annoying yes, but infinitesimally less so than having your identity stolen, paying over and over to have your account refrozen, waiting hours or days for your accont to unfreeze, etc., … and no more unauthorized hard pulls.

We are looking for a new home for activities heretofore conducted on the BeeBuzzPoints thread at FatWallet’s Contests and Sweepstakes forum. We have been exploring options like Facebook groups and such, and PhW is a contender. So we started a thread in the complementary subcategory here on PhW to try to get a sense for usability. The ability to paginate threads has given PhW an edge.

As to what we do … BeeBuzzPoints is our local newspaper’s reader loyalty program. Our newspaper participates in Triton Media’s sweepstakes program (as do a number of radio and TV stations across the nation). Each participating media outlet has its own member site. Each member must reside in his/her respective media market. Members can earn points for performing tasks like responding to questions where the answers are printed in that day’s newspaper (e.g., what is the headline of the 2nd story on the left side of the “local news” page). Those points are then redeemable for entries into contest drawings. These are contests/sweepstakes because of the element of chance. You do not simply redeem X number of points for an item assigned a point value of X. Rather, you throw your NNN amount of points in the hat with everyone else who wants to win that specific item and hope that one of your entries is drawn. Like electronic raffle tickets. Sometimes the sweeps are national (across all the participating media markets) where you can enter a drawing for, say, an Amazon Tap. Sometimes they are local, where you could enter to win a pair of passes to a movie screening at a local theater). I’ve never heard of GPT, but you’ve piqued my interest. I do participate in Microsoft Rewards which seems like the bunny slopes compared to what I saw when quickly Googling “GPT”.

Thanks for such a thorough reply! It sounds like a unique hybrid between contests/sweepstakes and GPT, but the GPT crowd would not be happy about their points not having a known value (or no value if they lost). So, it sounds like this thread is in the right forum. If we do get a GPT forum, you are in for a world of goodies my friend. It’s definetly a big genre and some sites are much better than others, but that’s a story for another day.

I hope that your BeeBuzz group feels at home here and decides to stay. Remember that we had very little notice to get this up an running and to open it to the members (we’re not even a week old). There is a lot of tweeking, coding, and programming to do to get it just the way we’ve been used to and/or want it (it took FW many years to get their site the way it is). Thanks for the comment, which I see was downvoted?? (Not by me, though I imagine it could be because “agreed” might not meet the community guidelines.) Am I correct in assuming that userids are displayed for upvotes, but not for downvotes to help avoid conflict? Or am I missing something? And if this is answered in the FAQ or elsewhere, please don’t hesitate to tell me to go look there.

Another thing to keep in mind about downvotes is that they can sometimes be unintentional because the up and down arrows are so close together and it can be hard to see the difference between the dark blue voted and black default arrows (especially on mobile). I often downvote by mistake and have to quickly correct it to my intended upvote. The other day I was looking through my profile and was surprised to see that I had downvoted someone because I wasn’t aware that I had. When I clicked on it I saw that I actually intended to upvote and was able to correct the error.

Of course people will purposefully downvote on a regular basis but sometimes, especially for a kind and supportive comment like the one mikk1 made, a downvote is just an error.

Wow. So so sad. I was hoping they’d at least stay open through Black Friday…
