Ragu pasta sauce at Target is close to break-even again with the X pattern on the Swago board. +100 SB for buying 2, +250 SB for the X pattern. $1.99 cost for each jar of Ragu.
If you’re a gambling man/woman, then it’s a $.75 money-maker if you buy one jar of Ragu. +25 SB for buying 1, +250 SB for the X pattern. However, I’ve never actually tried buying just the one because the Swago board requires a premium deal marked by a star - it should qualify if you buy one because it has a star, but the vast majority of premium deals are over $.50 (50 SB back) and given Swagbucks tendency to send Magic Receipts into receipt review and not getting a reply back because this Swago ends October 31; all this means it’s a slight gamble for buying one jar.
That said, breaking-even on groceries is becoming exceedingly tougher due to the coupon apps recent lack of deals, so these offers are quite competitive, comparatively.
You could also factor in any to-do list and daily goal bonuses.
What coupon apps are still out there? Right now I’m only using e-coupons offered by grocery stores that are linked to my store card/account.

RE: Kroger buys Albertson's Co (including all related chains - Acme, Shaws, Safeway, etc)
@sonofzeus said in Kroger buys Albertson's Co (including all related chains - Acme, Shaws, Safeway, etc):
Magic 8 Ball says: They might reduce prices from painful to simply annoying levels.
The big supermarket chains have made billions in record breaking profits (after costs) by using the pandemic and ensuing inflation as excuses to price gouge consumers. They’ve raised prices much higher than their actual costs increased. For example: …“little of that seems to have harmed the company’s bottom line. In the most recent quarter, which ended Aug. 13, Kroger’s operating profits grew 13.7 percent from a year earlier, allowing it to boost its dividend to investors by 24 percent. It has also repurchased $975 million of its own shares this year.” https://www.nytimes.com/2022/10/14/business/kroger-albertsons-merger.html
Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen (who would take over as CEO of the combined company) recently said “a little bit of inflation is always good in our business” because “customers don’t overly react to increases in prices.” Albertsons CEO Vivek Sankaran made similar comments. https://prospect.org/power/proposed-kroger-albertsons-merger-would-create-grocery-giant/
Kroger CFO Larry Millerchip told shareholders in October: “We’ve been very comfortable with our ability to pass on the increases we’ve seen at this point. And we would expect that to continue to be the case.” https://www.fastcompany.com/90797301/kroger-albertsons-deal-antitrust-grocery-merger
They have one narrative for the regulators and consumers. and a different (more candid) one for their shareholders. For the sake of consumers, I hope this merger is blocked, like they blocked the merger of Office Depot and Staples.

USDA Expands SNAP Online Shopping/Retailers Nationwide
USDA Expands SNAP Online Shopping, Adds New Retailers | Food and Nutrition Service
Washington, Sept. 20, 2022 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture, in partnership with states, territories and retailers across the country, continues to expand opportunities for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, participants to conveniently shop online for groceries. More than 150 additional retailer chains are now offering online shopping to SNAP participants, representing thousands of actual stores. In collaboration with state agency and vendor partners, USDA has expanded the availability of SNAP online purchasing to 49 states and the District of Columbia, providing more than 99% of all SNAP participants with access to online purchasing.
“Online grocery shopping is a convenient, safe, secure, way to shop for food while saving SNAP participants time and money,” said Stacy Dean, Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services. “Expanding the diversity of our online shopping retailers is a critical component of our nutrition security goal to provide better access to healthy, safe, affordable foods.”
In July 2022, just over 3 million SNAP households shopped online, which is a substantial increase from March 2020, when about 35,000 SNAP households shopped online.
In the last 4 months, 44 retailers were added to the program, representing 1,240 store locations. A few of those retailers include: Schneiders of Kirkwood in New York, 78 Target stores in Minnesota, and 10 Buehler’s Fresh Foods stores in Ohio.
USDA is actively providing technical assistance to all stakeholders who are interested in offering SNAP online purchasing, and is dedicated to bringing a more diverse, broader range of new grocers online, with a focus on smaller, independent stores.
For more information about the program and the full list of retailers approved to provide SNAP online purchasing, visit the SNAP online webpage. USDA also recommends visiting your local retailer’s website to find out whether grocery delivery is available for your location.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also known as ARP, provided $25 million for EBT modernization that can be used through fiscal year 2026. As part of that commitment to modernization, USDA has taken the following actions:
- Announced the SNAP EBT Modernization Technical Assistance Center grant, which will use up to $5 million from the ARP to provide much needed technical assistance to retailers offering online shopping.
USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service leverages its 15 nutrition assistance programs to ensure that children, low-income individuals, and families have opportunities for a better future through equitable access to safe, healthy, and nutritious food, while building a more resilient food system. Under the leadership of Secretary Tom Vilsack, FNS is fighting to end food and nutrition insecurity for all through programs such as SNAP, school meals, and WIC. FNS also provides science-based nutrition recommendations through the co-development of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. To learn more, visit www.fns.usda.gov and follow @USDANutrition.

You can find them at https://sc-s.com/. I signed up to get e-mail notifications from them but it looks like they have other ways too (Facebook, Twitter, etc.).
I used to use that site for years, then they slacked off for a loooong time (well over a year). I guess when they restarted daily notifications they must have deleted my contact info because I never knew.
You also get notified about swagcodes if you have the main Swagbucks app installed on your mobile device or install the SwagButton extension on your computer browser. Folks who are on their Facebook site regularly also catch code notifications there.

@booksleuth I just saw this on their Facebook page. I’ve never seen them post this info before. If these are the same times they use every week, one could set up alarms on a mobile device or computer and never miss a code again… hmmm:

@fivetalents
Their website is a shell of what it once was, much less items available for delivery, and those that still are have had a huge markup, and most frustrating of all, they will allow you to add certain items to cart, just so you could hit checkout and have the page say the item is unavailable. Amazon has become worse over the last few years too, but is now unquestionably better than Walmart.I agree completely.
To add insult to injury, they delivered one of my ship to home items early. How? Free delivery from my local store even though they wanted to charge me a fee for this service when I placed my online order (causing me to not order about 10 items that I plan to get shipped free from Amazon instead). On top of that, they left the food item on the ground in front of my door without any packaging (no bag, no box… just a sticker with my name and order number/info). I called to complain and got my money back.

RE: YMMV Chase offer: 5% back on Walmart.com purchases (can make multiple purchases until a maximum cash back of $10) - Expires 10/31/22
FYI: I just tried to place an online order and most of the items I normally order for shipping are no only available for store pickup or (for a fee unless you buy a membership) store delivery. The only other option is to buy overpriced options that are eligible for free shipping on $35+.

Cool. So Chase Freedom cardholders can double dip with this offer and get 10% back (up to $10 cash back anyway).
I don’t see anything prohibiting combining quarterly bonus cash back with their cash back shopping portal. Just remember that the Freedom card promo doesn’t start until Oct 1st.

I’m always a bit curious about their algo, it seems to offer better Swagup deals to infrequent purchasers rather than frequent purchasers.
I never see offers on for bonus SB on MGC+, just the percent CB and the occasional 100 SB for 1st time purchase from any brand… and I’ve only ever bought 1 GC on MGC+.
Strange. I thought they would give out more bonus offers. I think I’ve bought 3 or 4 lifetime.
Now you’re just rubbing it in.

I keep forgetting to mention that two out of the five daily Saggit bonuses have been 5 SB instead of 2 SB for some time now. Not sure if it is a permanent thing but an easy extra 6 SB daily doesn’t hurt.

RE: Bed, Bath & Beyond hires restructuring advisor (potential gift card warning)
You missed the point: in America, overpaid, spoiled, and entitled executives are the “horses.” IMHO, I wouldn’t commit suicide over a company that was failing long before hiring me, especially when they were paying me so (comparatively) little. Pandemic era execs are quitting left and right. He probably could have found another, higher paying, gig in no time. I gave him the benefit of the doubt by not assuming that equines of any kind had anything to do with him jumping. He may have had other things going wrong in life that had nothing to do with his job. Don’t make baseless assumptions.
-
RE: Bed, Bath & Beyond hires restructuring advisor (potential gift card warning)
I thought his death was unintended/accidental due to a dangerous hobby.
I was also surprised at how little he earned, comparatively, as a CFO. That might be the biggest sign yet of how much trouble BBY is really in (not to mention how little he made from selling off all those BBY stock shares).
-
RE: Bed, Bath & Beyond hires restructuring advisor (potential gift card warning)
I thought this story was about him being a thrill seeker/doing parkour/base jumping.
Turns out he committed suicide by jumping off the 18th story. Yikes.

If a Swagbucks credit card comes to fruition that allows you to pay off your card with your SB balance, it may be a way to get around getting unjustly taxed on your cash back. I wouldn’t have to keep my SB activity/earnings/cash back shopping low to stay beneath the $600 annual threshold anymore (I hope). If that’s the case, I’d make sure to redeem for my monthly 13% off Mastercard + Team Challenge/Swago Wheel redemption swag ups first before using SB to pay down/off my SB CC balance…
They’re still teasing this credit card… I wonder how close they are to launching, if ever. In addition to the above, I could also see this helping to meet minimum daily goals for bonus SB if you use it for small, regular purchases (e.g., Amazon subscribe and save items) or even occasional magic receipt purchases.
