Did you log in when prompted after clicking the link in the email? It took me through the steps to link to PayPal, all via Discover’s site. I don’t think just adding a Discover card on PayPal’s site will do it.

@couponclippen Interesting. I don’t suppose you know if they were pulled on October 11th and then returned at some later point, or if the associates simply never initially pulled them as instructed? Also don’t suppose you know whether they activate successfully at the register if purchased now? On October 11th, you could pay for them, but they’d print out a receipt saying they were denied. All Sears and Kmart stores were instructed to pull them from the shelves the Thursday before the filing. The issuer, Blackhawk Network, had prevented the cards from activating anymore at Sears Holdings locations. They were concerned they would not be paid. As part of Sears’s first-day motions, Sears received court approval to set aside an exclusive trust fund for Blackhawk. I was hopeful that would coax Blackhawk into resuming 3rd party GC sales with Sears Holdings, but alas, it’s been 2 months and I haven’t seen a return of any non-Sears GCs either. If anyone does ever spot them back, would love to hear!

Got an email that the in-store deal this week at Kmart is $10 back on $30, through 12/14. Also they will have a code to scan for 15-20% off everything except grocery & seasonal, through 12/24 (online it is code YULE).

I am so spoiled with all the $75 back on $75 (granted, in 3 installments) that Kmart had for a while. Kudos to them for coming back down to earth and trying to stanch the bleeding, but it’s difficult to motivate myself to buy on these promos now.

@my4mainecoons Last time it was some special Craftsman Club promo that prevented the RR deal from working. I know it works during F&F, I’m just not sure how exactly. A friend of mine has done it before but cannot recall whether she got a better deal because of a lower regular price or a lower sale price.

If the socket set is $24.99 pre-F&F (not sure if it is or not, last week it was actually $25.99, but let’s just assume $24.99 for now for simplicity), would I pay $84.99 at the register and get back $82.50? Wow! I did finally get a response from SYW’s email. The English is not good, and it is obviously an offshore agent. But they manually credited me last week’s $250/$250 deal as a lump sum!!! I don’t know if their system isn’t sophisticated enough to manually award future installments or if these new email reps (I really don’t think they are the same as they used to be - even in recent weeks, I had been getting emails back with flawless English, and this week is the first time I did not) just don’t know how, but I can’t complain! I’m still shorted some points because the rep didn’t understand/notice the extra appliance flash sale bonus offer I should have gotten, but getting these points credited as a lump sum more than makes up for that. Already spent the points too.

@midwestusdealguy I agree, I was surprised to hear too that there still existed a Midwest call center to shut down. I’ve only called SYW maybe 2 or 3 times since 2016, but I had gotten an offshore call center each time too. Prior to 2016 was always Wisconsin-based. But I had heard even in recent weeks that maybe if you asked for a “level 2” or something, they would transfer to U.S.-based…so maybe that was the center that just got shut down. The points issue I am having is much better explained if I can show screenshots (it was a flash deal for just a couple days last week on only a few specific appliances), so I am not sure if I can successfully argue over the phone with an offshore agent for the points instead of just returning this vacuum I was hopeful to get a good deal on.

Has there been a notable change in SYW CS quality lately? The Midwest call center was reportedly shut down last Friday, and the majority of the SYW department (including a couple high-level executives) was laid off a couple weeks ago (source is this layoff forum where Sears employees post: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/W9XoBFu ; separate thread regarding call center: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/Wn5Dw5j). I tried emailing them a couple days ago for a points deal that mucked up on me and got no response; normally they would respond next day. Wondering if they stopped monitoring email at all, or if it’s just slower now.

I would be surprised if this becomes true. Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores is a completely different company at this point (and not doing so hot themselves either, for that matter). I imagine they simply have a deal with Sears Holdings where they get reimbursed for the GCs used with them. The Sears GCs are Sears Holdings debt.

When Sears Holdings spun off Lands End a few years ago, Lands End GCs stopped being usable at Sears, and Sears GCs stopped being usable at Lands End; prior to that, they had been interchangeable. Sears Holdings presumably maintained a deal that allowed SYWR points to continue to be accepted by Lands End for years later, which incidentally ceased just a few days before the bankruptcy filing.

If Sears Holdings liquidates, I would fully expect SHOS to stop accepting Sears GCs too. Which thread is better to discuss this in?

There’s no additional $3 back. Those are just your $3 freecash you get each month from SYW Max.

FYI, Sears seems to have a deal going on for $10 back in points on $10 of anything for store pickup. I didn’t see it advertised anywhere (yet), nor have I tried the offer, but $10 points show up in my cart if I have anything $10+ set for store pickup.

@my4mainecoons I do Swagbucks, but $25 Visas are actually cheaper to redeem for than Amazon GC and can be used anywhere. I actually do have plenty of Amazon GC too, but I would still consider those to be much safer and more valuable than the Sears GC I want to find some way to spend.

@my4mainecoons Some of the Marketplace sellers are just drop shippers who order the stuff directly from an Amazon Marketplace seller after you order from them via Sears…so many levels of commission going on here. But it just depends on what items you’re looking to buy. There are a lot of items I want that I have never been able to get from Sears, but of course they are on Amazon. I may have to pay a 20% upcharge to the Sears Marketplace seller to order the items for me from Amazon, but I get points back so it ends up cheaper than buying from Amazon, and I can pay with my Sears GCs that will likely soon become worthless anyway. It beats dropping real money on Amazon instead.

Do we know what all the Marketplace points offers are this week? I think $40 back on $40 for Bestone, Topselling, Wondershopping, Exacme, Appliances Connection, and various jewelry vendors are all ending 12/1. Did I miss any?

(Of course, maybe nobody cares anyway because nobody else ever seems to do these Marketplace deals. I’ve done a lot of them over the months, and I actually really like them: the points credit reliably and relatively quickly (7 days, all in one installment), and many vendors don’t even charge sales tax. A minority of times, the vendor would ship me the wrong product or never ship me the product at all, but we all know that happens with Sears directly too. Either way, any time something’s gone wrong for me, contacting the vendor about it has usually corrected the problem; the two times that a vendor was unresponsive to me, I was able to get Sears to step in and refund me without much hassle. The majority of times, I get what I ordered at a fantastic price (due to the points back effectively making it “free” or heavily discounted), and this expands the product selection far beyond what Sears offers. Can’t pay with points of course, but GCs work fine, so I don’t view it as much different than doing a Sears/Kmart points offer, other than I can’t return the product in store, I guess…but I very rarely return stuff anyway.)

@my4mainecoons In my experience, when you do a RR tool deal, you can’t return it. Maybe it’d work if you pay back the GC amount in cash/CC, but I refuse to do that. A return won’t go through otherwise. A post void works, but it’s always hit or miss whether I can find a cashier who knows how to do that.

I decided I didn’t want to bother with weekly installments either and ended up only doing the $50 back on $50. Worked fine FWIW.

@my4mainecoons I was just going to do 3 tool sets. I could see it going one of two ways. Either they code it as $50 back if you spend anywhere between $50-$249.99, else $250 back if you spend $250+; or I’m hopeful it’ll just be $300 back on $250. Worst case I should still get at least $250, I’d think…but of course that is the much more annoying deal, with $25 back every week for 10 weeks. If they won’t stack, I’d really rather just do the $50 back on $50 and call it a day.

@mrvietnam There is a $50 back on $50 Sears offer, in-store only, 11/22 and 11/23 only. It’s in the ad.

Do y’all think the $250 back on $250 and $50 back on $50 will stack in-store the next 2 days for $300 back on $250?

I finally made it to my store today and they actually had $30 back on $60 for home. Looks like Sears is back to having store-specific deals again (it was like that during the summer, but for the last few months, the store deals seemed pretty universal). The plus side to store-specific deals is that I found out during the summer that if you have access to 2 different stores running promos with different denominations in the same week, you can actually do both deals on the same SYW account.

Looking into the future, the BF ads have 100% back (up to $50) at Kmart, 11/22-11/25. Points credit 11/27 and expire 12/3.

Sears will have $50 back on $50, 11/22-11/23 only, and looks like it may be in-store only too. Points also credit 11/27 and expire 12/3.

The online + in-store Sears offer for the weekend will be $250 back on $250, 11/22-11/25, but those points will come in $25 installments over 10 weeks. Pass for me on that one.

Does anyone know if there are in-store points deals this week at Sears? Thanks!

I would be curious if anyone knows whether the RR tool deal still works at a store in liquidation. I know from past Kmart liquidations that coupons may still work if the cashier wasn’t instructed to not take them. The socket set would be a dud now of course, but I wonder if there are other items that’ll end up being a good deal if the register still prompts for the RR promo. Perhaps I am being too optimistic. I am probably just going to have to lug myself to my next closest store, which is much farther and in a high-crime area…

@my4mainecoons Thanks, you had mentioned the word “coupon” when speaking of your $15/$100 several months ago, so I thought I was just missing something. Yes, what you just outlined has been my experience as well. Freecash works fine off of RR of course, but the coupons only work off the sale price. I thought perhaps it’d be different if the coupon was already loaded/clipped to come off automatically, but I guess I can only confirm that that did not work either. Thanks for the reply!

If I ask the cashier to go back and scan the physical coupon, the socket set reverts in price to $29.99 so I’m nowhere near the required threshold of $100. This scenario works fine for me if I have freecash, but I can’t figure out how to do it when I have a coupon off of $100. Thank you!

You can do the deal once online and once in store - they are separate deals. My store is on the list of 142 too but has not started liquidation yet, so all the deals still work as normal there, for now.

Back then, I did a search on usual temp at Reagan on the 4th of July…it was nowhere near 100 degrees.

@my4mainecoons Tools are $50 back on $100 this week, same in-store. There are probably other department deals in store too, though I didn’t have time to wander into every department to check yet this week.

As I mentioned, I am pretty sure those 3 $75 back on $75 deals are all separate deals too. There is also $60 back on $60 for shoes. Not to mention $30 back on $30 for Marketplace jewelry and $40 back on $40 for the Bestselling Marketplace vendor.

So just off the top of my head, that’s at least $545 worth of “free” stuff you can get this week between Sears, Kmart, and Marketplace. One would never get done shopping (and using up all the points) if maxing out every deal this week.

Sad thing for me personally is that I’m in need of some toy and electronics items. I did buy my toys via the Kmart deal, but my electronics item fell off the site while I was waiting for a “free” deal on it.

You’d get back 50% of what you spend out of pocket, so (27.99 - 19) * .5 = you’d get $4.50 in points if you did that. If you didn’t apply any points as payment and paid all $27.99 out of pocket, you’d receive $14 in points. This will all be reflected on your checkout page (it should show $14 back before you apply points and $4.50 back after you apply $19 in points). If you paid half out of pocket, then you’d get back half of half the cost of the screwdrivers, make sense?

Perhaps I’m simply worrying for no reason (hope that’s indeed it), but frankly it makes me glad to hear I’m not the only one with no tracking yet on 9/3 orders, so thanks UkeDog. Yes, I think we all know there’s no point in contacting RMN before 15 days are up. But now I think there’s high likelihood that I’ll need to remind myself to make that contact 9 days from now. As I noted, past Sears purchases generally tracked within 1-2 days. My 9/8 purchase has already tracked too, so it is strange for 9/3 orders to not have yet. Again, hope I’m simply wrong. I’m just a bit annoyed because I placed orders I definitely wouldn’t have if not for the RMN offer, and they’re not even orders that can be easily returned (3rd party Marketplace).

I actually tried another of their Monday-only deals several weeks ago, and it also never tracked. It was an offer for $15 back on $30 at Office Depot, yet I have ordered from Office Depot through RMN before and had no tracking issues in the past. It’s almost as if the lucrative Monday deals are purposefully broken…

Anyone get credited for this offer yet? Normally RetailMeNot credits me the next day for Sears, or 2 days at most. It’s past that by now, so I’m worried, especially since I placed multiple orders and none have credited.

@ukedog The deal in store is different from online, if you did it in-store…so yes, you would be able to do it online too. If you did it online already, perhaps your order hasn’t processed and credited the points yet. The system won’t show the limit reached until the points have posted.

@my4mainecoons Oh bummer, thanks! I didn’t realize it worked on the purple Multi Cat. I did see that my store still had 1 of those sitting there, but there was no green one in sight, and when I asked the store employees, they said they had run out the first day the coupon came out. I saw that the coupon read “Advanced Odor Control,” and I don’t think those words were on the purple one…oh well, probably won’t be back in the area before the coupon expires, and maybe that lone purple one is gone by now anyway.

Yeah! It worked by the way. Checker scanned something at the register for the $3 off without me having to mention it, then 50% coupon took off $5.50, and $5 manufacturer’s coupon worked too (got it from here: https://www.canidae.com/couponvalue/514CDK160?promo=be057d&code=514CDK). My total was $0.49 plus tax, but tax was over a buck for me since apparently all of those discounts counted as manufacturer’s discounts, so I was taxed on the full $13.99 regular price. No biggie though as I submitted it to Ibotta for $3 back, so it was a tiny moneymaker.

Dog treat coupon did behave as a store coupon though, so no tax on that. My store didn’t have any cat litter.

Sales tax depends on your state. Some states tax pre-coupon, others post-coupon.

I ordered $30 Sears, $40 HomeSquare, and $40 VMInnovations; spent $110 + tax on the Sears item, got back just over $110 points and will hopefully receive $20 from RMN. Sweet.

@my4mainecoons Ibotta has 10% back through 7/19, but you’d have to purchase through their app on a mobile device.

I noticed RMN finally quit having a cashback offer for Sears, which is a huge bummer. It was the only site that didn’t say the offer excluded stuff like electronics, home, and Marketplace. Has anyone had success getting credit for Marketplace orders from any cashback sites besides RMN? I know for sure that BeFrugal and TCB really do exclude items from Sears’s home department: on both of those sites, I tried purchasing home items along with apparel items in the same order, and I was credited cashback only on the apparel portion of those orders.

Current “free” Marketplace deals include $40 back on $40 from HomeSquare (through 7/16), $40 back on $40 from VMInnovations (through 7/21), and $30 back on $30 from a bunch of different jewelry vendors (through 7/23, click the link on Sears’s home page for a list of vendors). So I’m wondering if I can get cashback from any site for purchases from these Marketplace vendors. Thanks!
