@bob, have you looked into PayPal debit mastercard? If you’re NOT doing manufactured spending and will swipe them as credit instead of debit, you’ll earn 1% on the transaction. PayPal is NOT a financial institution and quite fragile so make sure you read the T&C before you sign up.
I’ve completed all spend on four Freedoms buying VGCs at WM supercenters. Drained them to WUMOs at the grocery store. The CBs are now posted as pending for statement cut.

@tonglu1 it worked for DH and me the last few years. His membership just expired and I’m suppose to get a “new” membership, I didn’t push through with it because the main reason we go to SC is to MS with their variable $500 MCGCs. Now that they carry only up to $250 variables, it’s not worth buying GCs there. Even if warehouse clubs become one of the bonus categories of major CCs, I still won’t buy GCs there.
I had good experience with ebates at the time when they had offers to link CCs (INK+, INKcash, and other CCs) that we can use in-store to earn additional CB. Office Depot was one of those that gave 2% cashback and there were no GC exclusions at the time. When I didn’t get all the CBs I was expecting, I contacted customer support and they added all my missing CBs manually. I wish that offer comes back especially when there’s instant $ off on VGCs that we can double dip.
@tedteddy that’s true. Ripping VGC packages right in front of a cashier is one of the NO-NOs, it’s asking for trouble especially for those stores who require that your name be on the debit card you’re paying with.

even if it’s a bit inconvinient, I created separate online accounts for our AUs. One card has 10 accounts (axp keeps on telling me to add up to 99…lol), other cards have more, others less but all have their SEPARATE log ins. The advantage of this for me is I have always received multiples of the great offers ($10/$10 amazon, $25/$200BBY, $5/$5 Dollar Shave, 10% off cable/cellphone bill, etc). I know the issue of ‘losing offers’ when multiple accounts are in one log in and do tab switching.

I signed up 4 AUs for the offer on SPG where for each AU who spends $1K in 90 days, I will receive 2500 starpoints for total of 10,000 starpoints. I added 4 only one is a new one that isn’t AU to my other cards. I tried to create an online acct for the new AU and a message came up to call a rep. When I got a rep, she asked for DOB and SSN of the AU before she activated the card; thereafter, I was able to create an online acct for my new AU. Gone are the days when people used fictitious persons/pets as their AU but now the cards will not be activated unless there is DOB and SSN; without this info, the card becomes invalid and cannot be used for sync offers.
I see the 4 we got have no more PIN and the barcode number is alpha numeric. I doubt this’ll work like the KCs we’ve been used to. I’ll monitor reports how they are being used if they’re still $10/$10. IME, when my total doesn’t reach $10, I don’t pay tax and still get some change on my KC which the cashier gives back to me indicating how much is left on the KC.
For now, I’m still getting my credits for each sync offer I save to each AU card, the last batch is for $10 on each $200 AGC purchased with AU cards. The verbiage of limit 1 credit per axp account has been there for a long time that I can remember so this isn’t something new.
I also got the rate increase alert from Alliant although I’m juggling my funds for churning right now so I’m still earning more.

@mastroadam debit visa from GCM is what I have lots of that I’ve drained. the ones from GCcom will also work but GCs from those 2 online sites have your names in them which is very useful for those WMs who require that your name be on the card they can match with your DL.
Last day tomorrow but I hope they’ll extend the promo. Nothing beats fee free draining of GCs.
Caveat: Be careful whom you send the funds because they ask for ID when picking up the money. For the sender, you enter all your info in the app, they don’t ask for your ID. If by chance, the recipient decides to keep the $, nothing you can do except plead with them because they can always say it was a gift so they’ll keep it. Send only to someone who won’t stiff you.

@calwatch without a doubt, it is worthwhile for me because the DS and WMNM I have are uberly MS friendly. When the offer at one DS comes giving free GC when you buy 2 vanillas, my go-to DS does not blink if I buy 2 variables per register, total of $4K in one trip, get my free GCs on each transaction. That comes up to 50% off the fees per K so buying $30K++ in one week is doable. I don’t max out the Ink, the few times I use it are during sync promos or when there are in-store promos for buying VGCs. I use the CFU more for online GC purchase that has worked well for me, when my priority envie comes, I can easily drain them at my go-to WM soon as the CS opens; if I find the YVrep in a good mood and asks me if I want to buy more, I grab the chance to drain up to $10K, 4 strikes of plastics each. It’s really all YMMV and the place where I’m at is very encouraging. BTW, I don’t do delta.
Yes, it’s definitely a lot of work, we have to crunch our numbers (am focusing on CB now) and determine for ourselves if it’s worth our time. I don’t base my numbers on others’ computation. I focus on my goals and how to attain them.
@dangeruss the batch before the last one that expired yesterday, expired 9/6 IINM so I was also wondering why the last batch had a short exp date. I checked again just now and Kohl’s is not a listed merchant
@fivetalents you’re right, hackers will be always one step ahead BUT if these agencies to whom we entrust our SSNs are given more just a wrist slap to cause them loss of their business, maybe…just maybe they’d be more careful. PLUS there should be criminal charges lodged against top honchos of these companies or else they just retire with a “measly” few hundred millions in their pocket while all of us are left to suffer the consequences of their actions.
how much do ya’ll think it’ll cost to change citizens’ SSNs? If lots of people encounter problems and citizens band together and demand for this, will the gov’t acquiesce and let Equifax pay for it? just thinking out loud if changing SSNs will solve a lot of potential issues.
DH and I haven’t received our $200 bonus for accounts we opened using S817 code. Both of us have completed the $20K deposit and we’re just waiting on bonus to post on or before 10/30 per terms. We plan to open the AAA after receiving bonus on the savings; we’re transferring main bulk of the $20k to our bank hub so it’ll be new money when it’s deposited to AAA by Nov 15. Will also try later for the AAII bonus.

I shared another tried n tested MS venue posted under Grocery/DS deals. Go check it if interested but hurry since exp date is 9/30 but hopefully, it gets extended. It worked for up to $2000 fee-free.
Here’s another thing I’ve been doing even before this breach came about. I put a verbal PW that is separate from my written PW on each of our accounts. I thought of this years ago so that if anyone called to ask information about my account(s), a prompt on the rep’s screen will come up asking for a PW before they proceed to give information. It’s easy to do this, pick up the phone right now if you have not set a verbal PW on all your accounts; the inconvinience of the rep asking you for it prior to giving info is very minimal, but benefits are priceless. Do it now!
*make sure your PW is a word that’s not commonly used, you can tell it to your SO/spouse/person you trust and NO one else.
The last $10/$30 KCs expired yesterday so I checked today for new batch of KCs and Kohl’s is not even listed under participating merchants. Is it just me?

I am a CC and bank sign-up bonus churner so I’m not inclined to freeze n thaw all the time, I am losing a lot of opportunities by doing so. I feel violated by this recent massive breach but remind myself that anger will get me nowhere. I must stay compose all the time so I can think clearly while keeping in mind to make all my communications with companies short, firm and straight to the point. This frame of mind has worked for me a lot of times without having to burn bridges and losing opportunities.

talking about portals, beware of Simply Best Coupons. I registered there a year ago and got the $5 sign up bonus pending which I thought I can’t cash out because minimum amount is usually $25 or more. Fast Forward this year, I bought GCs from Gi ft cards. com and I got approved cashback of $25 so I thought I can now cash out my sign up bonus…WRONG! I was told that since I bought from GC. com, it does not give a sign up bonus… I told them it wasn’t stated that the sign up bonus was coming from the first merchant I purchase from and they said G C. com does not give sign up bonus. Ugh Compared to GoCashBack, I got the sign up bonus soon as my cashback on G C. com were made available. I have good experience with TopCashBack and use it more often for my GC purchases.
It’s free to send money via RIA transfer using WM app via Express Pay. This fee free goes on till Sept 30 2017 although it may be extended. I tried to send money to test the service and it’s pretty simple. You go to WM to pay when sending money(cash and/or debit NO credit)To anyone and thereafter, you’ll get a code to send to the recipient which they’ll bring to WM to present the reference code and show their DL to pick up the money. This is another MS venue ; )
For those who use WM billpay via CheckFreePay, has anyone experienced where payment was posted to their account they did NOT make? Will CFP clawback this payment later? I’m talking of >$2K and it’s been a week that it posted to my account when I didn’t make that payment! I’m not worried about the CC account that got paid but I’d like to know how long should I wait to find out if I’m in the clear or if CFP “gave me an early Christmas gift”? I don’t mind if they’ll claw it back from the CC account they posted it but question is until when should I wait? I tried to contact CFP but they were asking me for a code/reference number that I don’t have since I didn’t make a payment although I’ve used them before to send a payment that posted correctly to my account. I’d appreciate any input on how to handle this. TIA
