@mtnagel said in New Target Red Card Reloadable, Not linked to your bank, not a credit card, get $40 Ends 12/10:
I decided to do the reloadable but got declined. What the literal F? I was thinking maybe because my credit reports are locked, but it says they don’t check your credit. Very bizarre.
I ended up applying for the debit card and got approved for that so a free $80 for us.
I did find this on Slickdeals which probably explains why I got denied for the reloadable. I’ve opened 15 savings/checking accounts in the last year (made >$3500).

Many Slickdealers in this thread posted confusion of why they demand SSN, why do they want to know your occupation, why do they need to know the expected deposit amount. Some wondered why they got rejected when they have 800+ credit score. And this is why. Target Reloadable is a banking product. Not credit, not store card. The partner bank, Pathward, is required by law to obtain these sensitive information from you. And this also explains why you can get rejected when you have 800+ credit score. One person on this thread reported being approved even when his/her credit file is locked. And rightly so, because again this is not a credit product. Pathward does not check your credit. It however may check your deposit account history against popular verification services like ChexSystems. So check on that if you got denied. Did you open too many bank accounts in the past few months?
