They did this just because the Alex Trebek stamps are coming out and they figure people will pay all kinds of crazy money for those stamps. Pre-order now before the price goes up…

@my4mainecoons said in Chase $900 offer could be yours! When you open a new Chase Total Checking® account & new Chase Savings account with qualifying activities Offer expires 07/24/2024:
@marvomatic I thought ACH debits meant taking money out of the account vs deposits.
You’re right. I typed the wrong thing. It’s ACH Credits/Deposits. @Marvomatic - thanks for double checking my post.

@marvomatic Looks like:
We (newly, like in two weeks) retired folks would have to have our Social Security checks deposited to the new account…

@mistercheap Open a PayPal account and tie it to your Amex card. Problem solved.

@my4mainecoons I’m an IT professional. You really can’t put “easy” and “CAD” in the same sentence.
You could do the drawing, take a phone picture of the drawing, and email it. Or, you could try one of these (I have never used any of them):

Got the email from Google today that they are crediting my credit card for $399. That means I got the tablet for the cost of sales tax. I went to the Play Store site to see if I could do it again, and now the trade-in value is $50, so not worth it. I don’t know if the trade changed because I used a trade already or if the trade changed over time.
– Z –
One week later - still like the tablet. Outperforming my iPad 9th generation.
Just got email from Google that they received my trade in. Holding my breath to find out if they give me the full $399.
Promotion was still running as of yesterday.

@administrators I am now being followed by @livbank - got a notification when I logged in. I looked at livbank’s profile and it appears to be a commercial bank in the UAE. Does this forum admit members who are businesses?

@sonofzeus You will have to go to the page I linked and log in and input the model of the iPad. Number of years doesn’t tell enough to know how much Google will offer. It has to be able to be factory defaulted, so if you can’t turn it on, they won’t take it.
– Z –
Tablet showed up yesterday. It’s pretty slick - snappy, attractive, and pure Android 14. I’m a Samsung phone user, so the pure Android interface is a little different, but enjoying the screen, sound, and performance so far.
Waiting for the package to send in my trade-in. Will report back how much my trade is valued. Hoping for the full $399 promised.
– Z –
Not sure if this is US only, so YMMV. Not every iPad is included - just those from the last six years, or so. Just pay sales tax. The 256mb Pixel model is more expensive, so will not be free, plus accessories are extra as well. Log in in the upper right corner of the page with your Google account, select Tablets off of the top menu, and the deal should appear if you scroll down the screen a little bit.
Trade in terms and conditions apply. Once the trade in is validated, you will get a credit on the credit card used for the purchase in the amount of the trade in. If the trade in value is greater than the purchase amount, the difference will be a credit on the Google Store.
You can trade in Samsung tablets as well, but the trade in values are not as good as for iPads.
@dangeruss S&S only gave me $0.22 off, but still a great final price.

@angryeyebrows Neither game shows free when I log in. What do we do to get them for free?
Never mind - need to read the post headline all the way to the end. Sorry……

@marvomatic One review. Even at $33, it’s a hassle if I have to return it. The other smart rings on Amazon certainly are more expensive, but as the number of reviews for different rings goes up, the average rating goes down into the mid-3 star range.

@my4mainecoons Nope. 8GB should be OK. You can always add it later if you need it. If you are doing a scratch Win 11 install and don’t have the Dell utilities, 8 GB will be fine. Even with the Dell utility, most people are OK. If you start doing video editing or anything with creating and editing large files, you will likely need the extra RAM.
— Z —
@my4mainecoons The Dell online customer replaceable parts guide shows only 2 RAM slots in the unit, so another 8GB stick of RAM makes sense. RAM is relatively inexpensive. Crucial.com is my favorite place to shop. You can get another 8GB stick for $20. If the machine is laggy and if you’re running Windows and resource monitor show that you are using most of the 8GB, the 2nd 8GB will help tons, but I wouldn’t add the RAM unless I was having machine performance issues.
—. Z. —
@my4mainecoons I think you did pretty well. External DVD drive is under $50 and you don’t have to get a Dell-branded DVD drive. You may have four slots, but it depends on how many are being used to deliver the 8GB of RAM. If two are used, you can add more later but have to get a pair that is compatible with whatever is already in the PC. You run into problems when you mix memory speeds and sometimes a computer only wants to have exactly the same RAM in each of the slots. Best bet, when the time comes that you decide you want more RAM, is to go to the website of RAM manufacturers and use their tools to determine what RAM will work best.

@my4mainecoons said in I need a new computer:
@zerenia thanks. I don’t know what specs I need. I just go with “bigger is better” and “more power!” (Tim the Toolman).
Does “OptiPlex offers support for WiFi-6E, a next generation technology that brings you faster speeds and better performance, wherever you choose to work.” mean that it has a wifi card?
It’s $200 more than a 3080 refurb with no wifi although it comes with a license for W11 so I guess it’s an investment towards the future.
IDK how much an external wireless card would be + take it to have it installed if I can’t figure it out.40% off Dell OptiPlex 3080 Desktops (excl. Hot Deals), most only $329. Free ground ship – use coupon code: 40OPTIPLEX3080
These have DVD-RW.
The box I linked to has this in the details:
MediaTek MT7921 Wi-Fi 6 Wireless Card + Bluetooth
That tells me that you get wifi built in.
The ones you linked to specifically state No Wifi.
The box I linked to is showing at $549, so $50 less than the boxes you linked to. But, the processor is an i3, not an i5. Depending on what you do with the computer, you may nor may not notice the difference. The challenge is that all the computers have different amounts of RAM and hard disk. For my tastes, more RAM and faster processor mean that the machine will usually support operating system updates for a longer period of time. You can always move files to a thumb drive or SD Card, or online storage like Dropbox or OneDrive.

Sounds like something I could use but never saw this warning before. I guess it’s just freaking out because it’s an “unknown publisher”.
Don’t sweat it too much. If you don’t want to download it, other free alternatives work just as well and are not restricted from getting updates like this offer is.
– Z –
I’d be curious to know what alternatives work just as well (given you didn’t name a single one). That was never my experience, many either had limits or trial periods and/or a very user unfriendly/cumbersome interface.
My favorite:
https://www.any-video-converter.com/en8/for_video_free/
It all depends on what you want to download. Will not successfully download DRM protected files, but neither will VCap.
I’ve used the ANVSoft tools for years and they have worked well.
Here’s another that I’ve used from time to time:
https://www.videohelp.com/software/TEncoder
TEncoder page lists a number of alternatives to TEncoder, but I have not tried any of them.

Florida residents only, or relatives of a current Space Coast Credit Union member. Space Coast Credit Union has a 12-month CD with a 5.61 APY, $500 minimum deposit. 180-day interest penalty for early withdrawal, and will deduct the amount from the principal if the account is less than 180 days old or the interest has already been paid out. Requires Florida residency and a $5 share account. I applied and they do check your driver’s license for residency. Waiting for approval on the $5 account and then I can buy the CD.
