Office Depot 11/3/19 - 11/23/19 - LAST WEEK (New change of terms): $4 BACK per recycled ink cartridge (limit 10 PER WEEK) with $10+ purchase - STILL WORKING THIS WEEK! - EARN $40 IN INK REWARDS WITH NO ADD'L PURCHASE - RUN!

Good. Then it looks like for the last two weeks of recycling we do not need to make the $10+ purchase. That will save some OOP of buying things we don’t necessarily need. No need to buy free after rewards batteries and have to pay the sales tax. So our of the 5 weeks of the promo, I made 3 $10+ purchases, but may not have to make purchases the last two weeks. However, I will look to see if it works for others tomorrow though before heading out and recycling without a purchase. To show you how overpriced Office Depot is the Crystal Geyser gallon jugs of spring water I have been buying to hit the $10 purchase the last couple weeks cost me $1.29 at Office Depot. There is a local supermarket near me named Super King that is selling the same thing on sale this week for only 69 cents.
I wonder if the bonus recycling takes the place of the normal recycling for the month. I wonder if we were to recycle twice in a week for one week if one recycling trip would earn the bonus $40 and the second recycling would receive the normal amount of $20?

The limit is 10 per week. The second set of 10 would be disqualified.

10 a week for the bonus recycling offer, but what about the normally monthly recycling program? That program allows 10 a month, Might be worth $1 in used carts to find out. Might be a $1 loss but also might make you $20.

Nothing is earned beyond the 10 per week. Last week, the transaction in store had to be returned and repurchased. They essentially credited me 20 cartridges. The second 10 cartridges did not earn anything.
-
OD has changed both the start and end date of the $4 per cart offer from 11/1 - 11/30 to 11/3 - 11/23 (so it looks like this week is the last week of the promo now):
Bonus Recycling Rewards ($4 Back): Valid in store only 11/3/19 - 11/23/19 or while supplies last, whichever occurs first. Minimum $10 purchase required after discounts and before tax. Cartridges must be recycled in the same transaction with purchase. $10 minimum purchase excludes tax, delivery fees, purchases of all gift and prepaid gift cards, postage stamps, and purchases made with rewards and/or merchandise certificates/cards. Limit 10 recycled cartridges per member per week. We do not accept damaged cartridges. Bonus rewards are paid out the day after the qualifying purchase posts to a Member’s account as a reward certificate for the full value of rewards earned. This offer cannot be combined with other Bonus Rewards offers on the same or similar products or services.

@mrvietnam The start date was also changed. Did you ever get the credit for 11/1 or 11/2?

Good catch on them also changing the starting date two weeks after the fact. Yes, luckily, I did get my $40 manual credit which posted about 4-5 days ago. I guess they were not happy with people trying to get credit for an additional $40 Week of recycling for recycling on 11/1 or 11/2.
So they have effectively changed this promotion from a 5 week deal to a 3 week deal. I wonder if they are going to change all the signs at the stores because all of them say the promo runs 11/1 - 11/30. I wonder how they can get away with changing the starting date of the promo over two weeks AFTER the fact. I guess they are going back in a time machine. I think initially when they said it started 11/1 they screwed up as the promo did not start being advertised until Sunday, 11/3.
I guess we should be grateful for what we got. Once again Office Depot has been much more generous than Staples was.

I’ll make my Bounty purchase/cartridge recycle visit tomorrow.
In light of this late rules change, has anyone changed their opinion of my idea to spend their wad 'o rewards and then return the stuff they purchased for cash/credit?

Based on the latest result, you don’t even need to make the purchase.

In order to preserve my rights, I’m going to follow the terms of the original offer.
OD has violated consumer protection laws in numerous states.
Stay tuned.

Recycling today without purchase shows up as $40 earned. Hopefully that will be available tomorrow.

With my recycling today I now have over $300 in Office Depot Rewards. That’s the most in Rewards I ever had at Office Depot at one time.
Home / Rewards
Welcome!
Available Rewards: $300.04I think we can recycle next week too and make the standard $20. I am not a fortune teller, but I do see many jugs of price-matched Crystal Geyser one gallon jugs and several rolls of stamps in my future. Maybe I will do some of my Christmas shopping at Office Depot. lol
I probably could have got the Rewards without making a purchase (as was discussed earlier in this thread), but I was planning to stock up on the spring water anyway at my local grocery store, Super King, but now I won’t have to. That is also the safest way to do it (following the terms of the offer), just in case… I was a little surprised the cashier was willing to price match a local grocery store as it is not on the list of stores they will price match. If anyone is interested in getting cheaper Crystal Geyser one gallon jugs they go for 83 cents at Walmart (not sure if that is a sale or everyday price), so you could price match at Office Depot using that store and Walmart is one of the stores they agree to price match at.
I was able to get Office Depot to price match the Crystal Geyser one gallon spring water jugs. Brought the price down to 69 cents from $1.29. Big difference in price! I paid with discounted Office Depot gift cards I bought at 20% off, so that was nice, too. In effect brought down my Crystal Geyser to only 55 cents each. $40.21 is already showing in my Rewards Activity.
EDIT: The Rewards have now been paid out.
RDIT2: It will be with a heavy heart Sunday morning when I have to mark this thread “expired”.

I recycled 10 cartridges two weeks ago, and purchased $11 stamps in same transaction (then read the fine print later that said that stamps aren’t allowed).
Nothing shows in my Rewards account. I have 2 ink cartridges left to recycle… do I need to make another $10 to get my rewards to show up??

If you make a “real” purchase, there is a high probability to get something. If it doesn’t work, you can return the item.
Otherwise, you’re guaranteed to get nothing.

Disappointed they’re cancelling the final week, but I’m pretty happy with $120 in rewards along with 3 of the storage totes. Someone mentioned an FAR battery deal that is available every month that meets the qualifications for buying $10+ and turning in 10 cartridges to get $20 rewards every month. Details please? Thanks.

Yes, if you buy the batteries with an Office Depot gift card or with cash, then the spend on the free after rewards batteries will satisfy the $10 spend for $20 rewards for recycling. The question is next week if after the $40 promo ends if the regular $20 will still work for the last week. I am sure many will test it out next week, so you can wait until you see if it works before taking the plunge/
-
Here is a way to get $40 for recycling next week, too:
Go in store the week of 11/24. Take a pic on your phone and time stamp it of the sign which says recycle until 11/30 for $4 per cart. Recycle 10 cartridges and pay out of pocket $10+. If you don’t get the $40 THEN play dumb about the 11/23 cutoff and contact customer service.
-
The $4 recycling promo ad no longer exists on OD website, so looks like perhaps the party is over for now.
I would still like to know if we can recycle 10 more for $2 per ink this month, if in fact the $4 promo has ended.
If anyone recycles ink this week beginning with today 11/24, please post the outcomes here

Today’s recycling without purchase shows $40 earned, so it has not expired yet.

Sweet. Thanks for the confirmation. Tomorrow morning I will be at Office Depot at opening time to recycle my 10 carts. The empties cost me only a dollar, so a $39 MM. It will take me up to $342.02 in available rewards. As a famous competitor likes t say, “Now that was easy.”
How long did it take from the time you recycled until it showed up in your rewards activity? How many hours?
MODS - please move this thread back to HOT DEALS as it is still alive (for now at least - hopefully through Saturday, 11/30).
EDIT: Instead of going tomorrow morning to recycle, I went tonight as this can end anytime. I would recycle sooner than later this week if you are planning to recycle.
I just got home from recycling without a purchase… I recycled 20 minutes ago and it is already showing as $40 earned in rewards activity. Score!

@c3 Dropped off 10 cartridges Sunday morning and the $40 showed up this morning in my rewards account.
-
I recycled 10 cartridges this afternoon (without making a purchase) and the $40 is in my account this evening. My store still had the sign up at the entrance with the promotion ending on 11/30.
-
Same for me. I recycled 10 and purchased another tote. The $40 showed up today for me. Awesome deal!
