That is not a bad deal actually. I think I will do it. If you considered the Walgreens card like cash (which it isn’t, I know, but close enough for me), that would be like getting $5 off a $15 Domino’s card (or 33.3% off) and my kids like Domino’s pizza. I wonder if there is a limit on this deal?

How does the cashier know to issue the Walgreens GC? Does the register prompt them (like Target’s)?
I’m asking cause the cashiers at my various Walgreens are cold and clueless. Even if an offer is in the printed ad they would make up excuses as to why it doesn’t apply.

Did one of these promos a while ago. Cashier did not really know how to fulfill the offer. We ended up “buying” a $10 Walgreen’s GC along with the other required GC and was only charged for the face value of the required GC.

I just did this. Select your two eligible gift cards to purchase and a Walgreens’ gift card that looks exactly like the one in the ad (the others don’t work.) The register/computer will automatically deduct the $10 for the Walgreen’s card. I would give the cashier the heads up first prior to check-out. The ad was on page 12 of the weekly flyer in my area.

Uhmm, that’s how it works. That is the only way to get the Walgreen’s card activated…it has to be “purchased.”

Answering my own question here: No, there is not any limit. I have done the deal 4 times already on the same Walgreens account with no problem. 25% off gift cards to places I frequent is a good deal in my book. Makes fast food more affordable.
