Bed, Bath & Beyond hires restructuring advisor (potential gift card warning)
-
Maybe keep this thread for a day or two in hot deals before moving to deal discussion? Not everyone reads that forum.
Bloomberg is currently the only source for this: Bed Bath & Beyond is hiring restructuring advisor firm Kirkland & Ellis because of BB&B’s unmanageable debt load.
So you can take a chance that Bed Bath & Beyond will let you spend your gift cards before bankruptcy (like Toys’R’Us) but there’s always the possibility that it won’t (like Linens N Things many years ago, or Souplantation, or Circuit City)

Thanks for the HU. I have a $35 gift card there that I will use up this weekend. I got burned badly by Souplantation and don’t want that to ever happen again.
Linens N Things actually did let me spend my gift card during liquidation years ago. I got a nice Margarita like ice.shaver and blender back then along with a CD radio.

Thanks for the post! I have hoarded too many gift cards.

If you’re not following the BBBY stories, you should at least check the price chart for the past week/month.

Bed Bath & Beyond delays its debt problems by adding more debt (taking out a loan.)

I thought this story was about him being a thrill seeker/doing parkour/base jumping.
Turns out he committed suicide by jumping off the 18th story. Yikes.
-
@fivetalents did you miss the pic at upper right?

I thought his death was unintended/accidental due to a dangerous hobby.
I was also surprised at how little he earned, comparatively, as a CFO. That might be the biggest sign yet of how much trouble BBY is really in (not to mention how little he made from selling off all those BBY stock shares).

Sage advice: When you hear hoof beats, think horses…not zebras.
-
You missed the point: in America, overpaid, spoiled, and entitled executives are the “horses.” IMHO, I wouldn’t commit suicide over a company that was failing long before hiring me, especially when they were paying me so (comparatively) little. Pandemic era execs are quitting left and right. He probably could have found another, higher paying, gig in no time. I gave him the benefit of the doubt by not assuming that equines of any kind had anything to do with him jumping. He may have had other things going wrong in life that had nothing to do with his job. Don’t make baseless assumptions.
