I looked for a proper place to post this - I know this is all new.
Is there a way to go directly to the newest post in a thread since your last visit?

If you are logged in, it keeps track of your last read position. Is this not working for you?
Also if you hate infiniscroll, there should be options to enable pagination under your settings.

I was logged in my previous visit and this visit - clicking on a thread link brought me to the first post in the thread.
But let me try it again before you go looking at stuff - maybe it was just me.

Sometimes (most times) it takes me to my first unread post in a thread and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes I get a popup window that says “Click here to return to the last read post in this thread” and simetimes I don’t. I’m sure there is a pattern/method to the madness that we haven’t figured out yet.

Dangeruss will be creating a meta/member support forum soon, then there’ll be a dedicated forum to post threads like this about bugs, feature requests, help requests, etc.
-
@fivetalents most don’t know what meta means, perhaps dummy language for the forum like Phat help or similar

I agree. Meta is dangeruss’ word/preference. I’m sure he’ll choose a user-friendly title.

Meta means:
ADJECTIVE
(of a creative work) referring to itself or to the conventions of its genre; self-referential.I’ve seen it used on one of the other forums I frequent. But I guess if it needs explaining, it’s not a very good name.

That’s my concern. I’m a research scientist and often do meta-analyses. However, I don’t think it is a commonly used term for most lay people and thus confusing/non user friendly. Maybe you could come up with an interim name, create the forum, and then put a sticky in it asking for member suggestions on what to rename it.
-
@fivetalents good idea. At work, I’m constantly asking or telling people I need them to populate the metadata for their submissions - and probably about half of them give me a “Bambi in the headlights” expression the first few times around…

BTW, a very good effort in a short amount of time.

As in the human Metta World Peace?

That’s great. Thanks for taking the time to post an update. Is it OK if I mark this thread title “Resolved?” You can always come back here and post a reply if the issue recurs (i.e., it turns out to be an intermittent bug).

When I posted in a master thread, the thread jumped to the bottom of the list & stayed there. How can we keep all the master threads at the top?

What do you mean by “master thread?” A thread where the OP used the word “master” or “official” in the title? Can you post a link to the thread that you’re talking about? TIA.
-
Sorry, free stuff official threads.

https://phatwalletforums.com/topic/58/official-pampers-gifts-to-grow-codes-threadThank you. Just brainstorming storming possible reasons:
-
It is not a sticky (I could make it one if the free stuff forum users feel it’s a post they want stickied).
-
If that’s not the issue, you posted in that thread 18 hours ago so any new threads or existing threads that people replied to since then push that thread down in reverse chronological order if you have your view set to sort by newset.
Do either of those help?
-

@fivetalents I would like all the Official threads to stay at the top of the forum as at our previous site, otherwise they are too hard to find. Its not staying at the bottom either, but staying wherever the last previous post was located thus making it impossible to find when lots of posts have been made. The community posts must stay inside the Official threads also to make the threads worthwhile. I have not changed my view but intend to.
-
I appreciate all you are doing for the FW community with the new Phatwallet site! I was wondering if you could eventually emulate the style/format as much as possible from the original FW site like the forums homepage, font style/size, search features, message threading, emojis, and color schemes (I know it’s asking a lot) - that would make it easier for all of us to transition to and navigate the new website, and it will at least feel like we never left home . I’ll miss the archived content from the original site, and it is a shame to see the old site go , but thanks for allowing members to gather again at the new website. Great job!
-
@jbw I’m not really computer savvy. Don’t I wish I could do all that, but alas, I’m totally dumb as far as making a website.

OK, I’ve pinned all of the “official” threads. Take a look and see if it looks as you anticipated. We haven’t discussed pinning internally yet, so I can’t promise there won’t be any objections, but I see no harm in doing that and agree with your reasoning.

Thank you, @dangeRuss and the mods are working hard to make the transition as painless as possible. Welcome BTW, so glad you joined the site.
I totally get that all of us expats want this site to mimic FW as much as possible and as soon as possible so that we can continue where we left off with all of our preferred features and styles in tact. There are a lot of features I’m having withdrawal pangs for too. Fortunately, we’ve already got quite a number of those features on our to do list. We’re not going to try to clone FW, but certainly implement “best practices” and add our own unique styles.
Pinning was easy to address but other issues may not be. Bear with us as we ramp up and gather the plug-ins, codes, skilled techies etc. needed to customize things the way most everyone will enjoy.
Just help us by continuing to report issues, concerns and requests in the support forum, and we’ll do what we can, though some issues may take longer to resolve. Please post each unique issue in a different thread.
Thanks again for being here and contributing.

Here I am, being a pest again. Knowing how much you all have to do I’m sorry, just want to mention how much harder it is to go through the posts when the entire post is what you see instead of the one line to click on to get to the entire post. I am sure you will get around to it eventually.

I’m not sure I’m following you. Can you elaborate a bit?

I wonder if she’s talking about accessing your own posted threads/OPs from one’s tombstone page (under “Posts made by”) instead of navigating through the forums to find your own threads. I’ve wondered myself why the text for the thread links on the tombstone pages are so huge.
-
@dangeruss I no sooner finished that post than you already had implemented what I was referring to.

@dangeruss she just must have found the feature. Take credit though! You deserve it
