bummer that it’s not charged from Office Depot as I have the Chase Ink card which earns 5% back on office purchases. That would have made this close to $30 off total which would have been a great deal.

@mistercheap I’ve had Chase Ink for years and the bigger bummer is that now its hard to liquidate these prepaid cards. Used to be able to use them to purchase a m.o. at WM. Can’t do that any longer. Used to be able to use them to purchase m.o. at Kroger and I believe that’s changed as well. Of course you can spend the gc for effective 5% discount on your purchase but the days of buying a few thousand a week and liquidating are gone.

YMMV, but on another sire they are saying you can pay for this using an American Express e-gift card. There is currently an Amex Offer 20 off 300 that is still available if you have not used it already. Used it now with promo code HOLIDAYGIFT2020 , got the Amex GC in 15 minutes and then ordered this with the Amex GC. Got Amex offer confirmation as well as GCM order confirmation emails. So $35 MM,

Sold out.
I was going to jump on it with MrVietnam’s Amex deal. Can still do the Amex part and see if another pops up. Thanks

yes agreed, but I can use them to put on my cable or cell phone bill online. But only if there’s enough of a discount to do it. Not worth it for the $3mm at Acme anymore. Had this been direct with OD, it would have paid off, getting the $300 for about $272 net with the CC cashback.

@mistercheap My phone, internet, etc. are direct billed to Chase Ink for 5% back year round.
I use the prepaids for things that don’t get me % back e.g. car maintenance, auto insurance.

Yes, I use chase ink too for 5% back on those bills, however this would have been about 10% back total (still using Chase Ink), so I’d just use the prepaids on my bills vs the Chase Ink for the extra 5% savings and not have lost anything since I’m still getting the 5% on Chase from OD. but it wasn’t od, so, I didn’t fool with it.

I use the prepaids for things that don’t get me % back e.g. car maintenance, auto insurance.Given some of the fraud issues we’ve seen with prepaid cards, I try to use them within 2-4 weeks of getting them, TOPS. Don’t like to keep too many around. There are enough deals throughout the year to partake of, and as long as my net savings is MORE than what I’d get using the credit card (like INK) I’m fine with it. I don’t want to keep having large CC bills with OOP on these things.

@mistercheap In the past I liquidated ASAP but I can’t do that any longer. So I have about $1K from before they shut off WM which isn’t too bad BUT I’m working on a $800 sign up bonus for $4k spend in 90 days. So I’m charging to the new cc rather than using prepaids AND I’ve bought $700 in prepaids towards the $4k. I’ll have earned the bonus by the end of this month (60 days) at which point I’ll pay for things w/ prepaids but my expenses are low so it will take a long time to spend $1700.
Is it true that you can get up to a $50 money order at WM with prepaids? I recall some discussion on DoC early on but haven’t checked lately.
