If I already have one linked to my bank’s checking account (debit), can I get a reloadable one too and still get the $40 opening promo?

No, that’s why the banner advertising the $40 disappears.

It’s still good on 95% of groceries, pet food, HBA, etc. The coupon will also stack with any circle offers or gift card offers (ie, spend $50 on paper/laundry, get $15 TGC) I wouldn’t let that list be a deal killer.
-
I decided to do the reloadable but got declined. What the literal F? I was thinking maybe because my credit reports are locked, but it says they don’t check your credit. Very bizarre.
-
If you already have a RED CARD, can you also get this for the $40 coupon? Not seeing the offer when I’m logged in, so guessing not? but only linked to a bank debit cards are mentioned in the thread. Thx.

Yeah I know. Figured I’d get groceries. Still baffled that I got declined. Guess Target doesn’t want my money.

Applied/approved.
How do I get my $40 off $40?

@mtnagel Gracias. Feliz Navidad.

I have not tried it yet, I see the offer when I go to the RedCard link. $40 off, for a Target Red Card Reloadable.

Yes, but since I have the debit version, the offer disappears once I am logged in to my Target account.
-
If it’s $40/$40 coupon then one has to use it in one transaction. As a coupon it also means that you can’t use it on purchases for a P&G rebate or for milk d/t dairy laws. No current rebates for motor oil. Nothing great on iBotta. I wish that I could come up with $40 worth of stuff to buy.
-
MrVietnam, I wonder if you don’t log, in and start the application for a Red Card relaodable Card, if it works for you? Try using it, with your it with your old passwords, for a new reloadale Red Card. I have a debt card also.
-
@my4mainecoons How much space do you have in your freezer?

I ended up applying for the debit card and got approved for that so a free $80 for us.
I did find this on Slickdeals which probably explains why I got denied for the reloadable. I’ve opened 15 savings/checking accounts in the last year (made >$3500).
Many Slickdealers in this thread posted confusion of why they demand SSN, why do they want to know your occupation, why do they need to know the expected deposit amount. Some wondered why they got rejected when they have 800+ credit score. And this is why. Target Reloadable is a banking product. Not credit, not store card. The partner bank, Pathward, is required by law to obtain these sensitive information from you. And this also explains why you can get rejected when you have 800+ credit score. One person on this thread reported being approved even when his/her credit file is locked. And rightly so, because again this is not a credit product. Pathward does not check your credit. It however may check your deposit account history against popular verification services like ChexSystems. So check on that if you got denied. Did you open too many bank accounts in the past few months?
-
FYI, I read on SD that some people have been able to use it twice - once online and once in person. Very bizarre that Target wouldn’t have a way to stop that.
-
@mtnagel My freezer space is v limited.

@mtnagel My freezer space is v limited.
Wasn’t me that asked about your freezer, but how about space to store toilet paper? 2x 12 packs and a pack of gum if they make you spend more than $40 before tax - https://www.target.com/p/charmin-ultra-soft-toilet-paper/-/A-54605734?preselect=81579555#lnk=sametab
Or some Tide - https://www.target.com/p/tide-plus-ultra-oxi-liquid-laundry-detergent/-/A-79394318?preselect=79784604#lnk=sametab
And you can help my retirement account
Can’t think of anything I immediately need, but I’m sure I’ll find a way to spend $80 at Target. Will probably check out some clothes and then groceries, home products.

yes, ,last year I applied for a red card when they had the $50/50 offer, got $100 of free stuff bet. online/store.

@mistercheap I may buy $40 of Xmas/New Year groceries online and gift the physical coupon to a loved one.

That’s pretty insane they don’t block this year after year apparently.
-
FYI, these $40/40 offers can be stacked with circle offers for more mileage on your $40. Additionally if there’s a $15Target GC for buying $50 in laundry detergent you’ll still earn the gc if paying with the coupon.

I always suggest using the instore one first as it’s easy to just not place the order if for some reason the online coupon doesn’t work (they change something) you’d hate to order $40 online, then give the $40 in store to a loved one, they try to check out with $45 worth of stuff and the coupon shows invalid.

@my4mainecoons How much space do you have in your freezer?
4 freezer spaces and very little empty space. I’m working on eating down the freezer stockpile. I’m also using my seasonal walk in refrigerators (garage and sun porch). Adding the free turkey from iBotta didn’t help my freezer situation.
I have 80+ bottles of Tide.
I have large packs of Charmin (from Staples) stored in a car that isn’t being driven because there’s no room in the house.
We just got Target ~ 4 years ago and I’ve only been there once.
I thought about a prepaid cell phone but mobile contracts are excluded.
I just can’t think of anything to buy before Jan. 3.

Just an FYI, the enzymes in laundry detergent do degrade over time. They remove the stains, so if you don’t get a lot of stains it might not matter that much to you. Source: I work in laundry detergent product development.

@mtnagel If that’s true, then they really should be required to put “best used by” dates on those detergents if they stop working well.

Well most of the other cleaning ingredients will be fine for awhile, so it will still clean for awhile. And in general, most product is sold pretty quickly and most people aren’t like us with stock piles of stuff so they use it up quickly.
