Is that at an RA? I thought their policy was to be non-confrontational. I read on the news recently at another retailer an employee actually lost their job for confronting a shoplifter. I bet that guy won’t come back to that Rite Aid store. If you do a Google search for “employee loses job for confronting a shoplifter”, you will see a lot of listings from employees from a variety of retailers who lost their job for trying to stop a shoplifter. Kudos to this RA employee, just don’t tell corporate and hope they don’t use Facebook.
It could have been dangerous if he had been armed.

@mrvietnam I think it was pretty dumb for them to confront him like that. They risked personal injury, possible lawsuits, their jobs, and in the end they saved the company what $200? And the guy walked away to do it somewhere else. If they had at least detained him, I could at least see the point.

He may have worked for a private security service, not sure it was an RA employee, they may be under a different set of rules. But agree, risky to confront someone as they could be armed.

They have him on camera so sure they called the cops at the very least.
