Today, the U. S. Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission of mailing services price changes to take effect July 14, 2024. The new rates include a 5-cent increase in the price of a First-Class Mail 68 cents to 73 cents.

That’s a big increase!
-
It is, and we’ll keep seeing these kinds of increases as long as DeJoy and his buddies are in charge. I bought another 100 forever stamps a couple weeks ago to add to the mostly unused roll I already have, so should be good for birthdays, holidays, letterwriting, and other mailings for the next 2 or 3 years.

Wahoo! $87.92 return on investment soon to be realized.
-
@mrvietnam So you bought $8352 of first class stamps, why don’t you sell me some of the stamps! LOL

No, but I do have just under $2,000 of Forever stamps in my safe deposit box.
-
@mrvietnam You’ll have it, for 10 generations of family! LOL

Yes, I will divide them up and will them to my children. I also pay with stamps every time I send a package at the Post Office. Initially years ago I only bought $1,500 worth but with all the postage rate increases over tbe years the value has grown to close to $2,000.

They did this just because the Alex Trebek stamps are coming out and they figure people will pay all kinds of crazy money for those stamps. Pre-order now before the price goes up…

@zerenia No, its because they need funds, "USPS asks for billions more in financial aid 2 years after getting $107 billion"
https://san.com/cc/usps-asks-for-billions-more-in-financial-aid-2-years-after-getting-107-billion/I don’t use stamps that much, because of the internet, banking, Amazon, etc.
I think a majority, would agree with me!

The internet has still not taken over Photo Christmas and birthday cards (yet) at least for me. I still mail about 100 per year and receive a lot.

I probably haven’t used 100 stamps in the last 20 years. But I think cards are a waste of money.
-
Just used a bunch of rewards at Office Depot to get 60 stamps. may get some more. 73c is just outrageous.

Price increase date looming
-
You have got to love a gov’t monopoly, the USPS is increasing rates constantly and taking longer/ misaddressing more mail than ever, in any other job you get fired, in the USPS you get an increase.
