-
Receive a $15 Instant Discount for every $300 worth of Visa Giftcards purchased at Office Depot/Max Stores Nov 24 – 30, 2024, in-store only, limit 10
Can be a money maker with a purchase of 9x $200 cards:
9 x $200 Visa cards = $1800.00
9 x $7.95 activation fee = $71.55
Subtotal $1871.55Savings $15 off every $300 (1800 % 300 = 6 --> 6 x $15 = $90)
$1871.55 subtotal
-$90.00 instant discount
$1,781.55 actual cost, $18.45 money makerNote: A driver’s license is required for gift card purchases over $1,000, as the cashier will need to input purchaser’s details into the computer to complete the transaction.
Stack the savings by purchasing with a rewards credit card that receives cash back at office supply stores.
Note: Office Depot/Max states on its website that it will match prices at other stores, including Target; Target currently only charges a $6 activation fee on its $200 Visa GCs, so, why not ask OD/Max to see if a price match can be done on the Visa GCs?

Thanks Power Shopper for all the detailed write up.
Price matching does not apply to gift cards or their fees, I can tell you that right now.
It’s merchandise, printing, that sort of thing.I can see maybe doing this if you recently got a credit card where you earn the $500 for spending $3K in first 3 months. but realistically, to lay out $1845 to make $18.45 just isn’t worth it to me. Even if I earned 5% rewards ($90 on top of that) I’d rather not have to track the spend on 9 x $200 visa cards, you can’t roll them on other gift cards at a lot of stores now so that’s one of the main uses in the past for me.

Wow, quite the creative and involved process! I’m with Mr. C, that’s too much upfront cost for not enough return, but to each their own.
