I was hoping that it was a site-wide promo. ☹️
It would take a whole day to go through all of the items for sale at all of these select sellers to maybe find something that I’m interested in buying.

Stack with 8% eBay Bucks via the App or 6% online thru May 22
(Not quite as good as a $-off sale, but it helps!)

Is eBay charging sales tax now? I live in California and it used to be when I bought something on eBay from a seller outside of California I wouldn’t have to pay sales tax, but I just placed an order from a business in North Carolina and I was charged $5-something in tax.

No, not as a rule. who is the seller? if they have any kind of business operation in CA, by law they do have to charge sales tax, even if their ebay operation is in NC. but if not, you should contact the seller, they may have mistakenly programmed their listing to collect tax.

@mistercheap
The seller is one_stop_tool_shop.
Item location:
Charlotte, North Carolina, United StatesGood idea about contacting the seller to find out why tax was charged.

Got a quick reply back from the seller:
hello,
We are in associated with Stanley Black & Decker. It is a Federal Law that sales tax must be collected if there is a physical location within your state. Stanley Black & Decker has service centers all over the United States. Hope this helps in understanding why the sales tax is being collected. If you are tax exempt and can provide us with a certificate, we will be more than happy to refund you for that amount.
Regards,

@mrvietnam yep, that explains it. typically that’s what the issue is.

At least they now provide a search tool for these select seller promos, although that is only helpful if you know exactly what you’re looking for.

Thanks for the tip, @fivetalents! I hadn’t noticed the Search This Sale text box!
