According to the terms: The promotion ends “when Amazon elects to end the promotion.’ Can’t be more exact than that, right?
-
It says “Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately you are not eligible for this offer.” Maybe because I don’t have any Membership Rewards Points currently?
-
This offer orks on giftcards including Amazon!
-
It is being reported elsewhere that even some non-Prime members are able to get the deal, so you should check if you qualify just in case, Prime or not.

CONFIRMING Mr. V’s post, just activated offer, don’t have prime.
-
Thanks everyone - updated title to show possible for non-members

Thanks!! Worked for me on $400 Amazon + $100 Starbucks gift cards. For my family, that’s basically the same as printing $100.
-
For some reason I can only get 10% off on GCs if I go over $100 in GCs.
Anyone else having that problem?
Figured it out. I had $25 in other products so it wouldn’t give me 20% (on $200 GC) until I had $50 in other products in cart with it.
Should have tried with $40 in other products since that would have been 20% of the GCs total
-
I saw the banner in my Amazon account yesterday but ignored it after I read “no gift card” in the T&C. Then I searched other deal sites and saw that the deal actually works for gift cards. Already finished my $500 order.
I also signed up for the free trial Prime membership and received this offer:
- Buy a Prime item before Prime Day.
- Find something great on Prime Day!
- Claim your $10 reward.
-
I was able to get $500 in GCs - $400 for Amazon and $100 for Whole Foods - with the discount. No merchandise necessary but no matter what combination I tried, I was only able to get the 20% off with a max of $400 in Amazon GCs. If I had more than that in Amazon cards the discount dropped to 10%.
Thanks for the heads up that this even works on GCs.
-
@c3 I signed up for the one week trial too… except that trial is going to end before prime day :-(. I guess I’ll have to pay for a month, but the $10 should help with that.
-
Thanks, guys for letting me know you can buy GC. I tried the first day this was posted and it didn’t work, but turns out you need to have other merchandise with it.

The discount cannot be applied to the Amazon GC, so at least 20% of the total has to be something other than the Amazon GC to absorb the discount.

Your free trial is only good for a week? I thought it’s always 30 days.

I had no idea.
Thanks for pointing that out.
It will help a lot of others.
-
@c3 Maybe because I had prime before.
On another account I accidently signed up to 6 months of free student trial… Sucks because my primary doesn’t expire till Sept
-
- Buying Amazon GC no longer gives you the 20% discount, at least for more recent activations.
- If you have already used the offer, you may be able to activate and use the offer again.
-
No go on the GC for me either, but I was able to activate a second time. Thanks OP, ended up with the Yamaha guitar I wanted for a great price, considering they rarely if ever go on sale.
-
The promotion got reset, so there’s the possibility that those who already used the promotion can do it again.
-
I clicked on link and says I have the promo but when I check out (buying Fire HD) and apply $1 in pts there’s no additional 20% off. Is that because I’m using the promo code for the Fire?

Seems like there’s a limit to two promotions (or so) per order/item, so I don’t think you can apply the amex 20% off on top of the sale and the other amex coupon. You can try via chat, but might not be easy.

@dangeruss What 2 Amex promos am I using? I applied $1 in Reward points. I see 2 $30 credits. Is one of them from Amex?
