@thediggler They might not be able to tell if you go straight from the Dell Business website, buy if you enter through a portal they definitely will be able to tell.

Please change the title to @dell.com/amex to make it clear that you will not get the bonus at the regular dell website. I am assuming they are trying to prevent you from getting additional cash back through a portal.

Absolutely disgraceful company. They purposely did this 2 days after they put their gift cards on sale as a money grab from people. Whatever money they make off this they will lose in customer service. After I cash out my gift cards, I will stay away from Best Buy like the plague.

I don’t remember Staples ever changing their rebate terms mid stream, I do remember them not giving 25% back for an item that was 1 cent after rebate (it was an antivirus. don’t remember which one). However, in that case at least people were getting the item for 1 cent.

As far as the Office Depot gift cards, the ones I got from paypal digital gifts last week say on the gift card " Only 1 gift card may be applied per order online." If you can use more than 1 and that is wrong, that would be great news.

About the only thing Office Depot does right these days is when they discount the Visa gift cards, and even that they mess up by never enforcing their limit of 1 per customer so that if you don’t race in their Sunday morning when they open, there are never any left. That is why I have my stash hidden in the 2 Office Depots near me, it is the only way to take advantage of these deals.

I still find way more deals from Staples that from Office Depot. First off, at least Staples didn’t bait and switch by changing the rebate terms mid stride like Office depot did last week with their paper deal. And at least Staples allowed you to use 5 gift cards per order while Office Depot only allows 1 gift card per online order. And finally, Office depot hardly has any stores left, someone above said their closest Staples is 8 miles away, well my closest Staples is around 12 miles away but my closest Office Depot is 30 miles away.

Pretty much the only way to get these visa gift cards at OD is to run in Sunday morning or have them hidden in the store, as their stupid cashiers generally allow one person to buy the whole stack even though it is supposed to be limited to one per person.

Still an awful use of chase ultimate rewards points, as it only gets you 1.1%. But I guess for people who don’t have a premium card and can’t transfer to airline partners…

Having seen these promos from ShopRite for the last 2 years, when it says “SELECT” gift cards it is only the ones pictured. It has always been this way.

Stop & Shop really screwed this one up, their ad doesn’t say anything about having to sign up for a digital coupon (very clear on page 3 of the circular) to get this offer, I was wondering why I didn’t get the $10 off when I purchased earlier this week. In fact, this deal was posted by numerous websites last week and none of them said you needed the digital coupon which clearly shows the ad was misleading.

Please update title to say “w/$50 purchase of SELECT gift cards.”

Just another note, Macy’s rebates are all mail in (so besides for the tax you also have the cost of the stamp.) Also, they are extremely slow in coming (I am still waiting for my rebates from Black Friday to be shipped.)

Two important questions:

1. Can the Bonus Cash be used to buy other gift cards?

2. How long do you have to use the bonus cash before it expires?

Staples has a coupon this week (Staples website/Shop Deals/Coupons) for the 5 ream paper for $1 after coupon and rebate. You pay $25 at the register, and you will get $24 back. Premier rewards member will earn $1.25 in rewards.

A majority of stores these days do not allow you to buy other gift cards with their gift cards, it is not just ebay.

I guess each person will have their own opinion, but to me,
I find the exact opposite - Staples is way superior to Office Depot as far as deals and rewards. It was Staples who had a 27" monitor last week for $130 and on Black Friday for $99 - I can’t recall OD ever having a 27" monitor at that price in the last year. It was Staples who had the TI-84 plus graphing calculator at $90 for 5 weeks last summer - OD never had it lower than $120. It was Staples that had the Norton Antivirus for 1 cent after rebate - when was the last time OD had an antivirus for that price? Staples has the $25 off $100 Visa Checkout deals every once in a while - when was the last time OD had that? And Staples gift cards can routinely be bought at PPDG with a 10% bonus. Very rarely do I find anything at OD at a decent price. And that doesn’t even talk about the majority of people here cant even find a local OD store anymore because most of them closed down. I don’t think there are any of them left in the whole NYC and in the whole state of New York there are 4 of them compared to 106 Staples stores; in New Jersey there are 4 OD stores compared to 70 Staples stores. As I said, maybe you happen to live near one of the few remaining OD’s, but for the majority of people they are few and far between.

Unfortunately, I can’t get the original quote from the old fatwallet forums, but the “insiders” said there would be no free after rebate or penny rebates anymore (this was 2 years ago). Since then I have gotten at least 200 paper reams for 1 cent and over 40 of the 5 ream paper cases for $1. My complaint was that people post supposed rumors which get everyone all riled up and the n turn out to be false.

And I don’t see how it being harder to use rewards money to cash out on the paper deals is any way the same as what the staples insiders were claiming - two totally different claims. We all knew that at some point Staples was going to crack down on people who are only buying stuff that they make money on and nothing else. There are still plenty of opportunities to make money on these paper deals (ie, buying staples gift cards at discounted prices from PPDG, etc.).

It was almost 2 years ago, when the “Staples Insiders” were telling us how paper rebates were going away. Well, the insiders were wrong and paper rebates are alive and well. Staples has a ream of paper for 1 cent after coupon/rebate in store only. You will earn 5% back in rewards (assuming you have premier) but that will be negated for most with the sales tax. However, if you are buying to donate to a tax exempt organization, you can see if they will let you use their tax exempt number.

Brand New Sandisk CZ600 256GB USB 3.0 flash Drive is being sold by a seller on ebay for $24.99. This sells for $39.99 at Costco.

That being said, I have a feeling that this is a fraudulent seller as I have never seen anyone sell these 256GB
drives new this cheap before (even Black Friday sales were never this cheap for 256GB flash drives) and somehow this guy is selling 100 of them for $15 less than Costco. Also, looking at this guys feedback, he/she has sold nothing in the last year and a preponderance of his feedback is from people who are no longer registered users on ebay.

My point is, this is a great deal but I would say a 75% chance you may have to file with ebay to get your money back at the end if it never ships. It is a simple process and you will get your $ back within a week if you are willing to take the chance.

Very clearly says “on these select gift cards SHOWN”, so it is not all store/.com/dining gift cards, only the 4 or 5 shown in the ad.

The prepaid Amex are horrible because you cannot register the card online. supposedly, they can work online without being registered, but I found most online transactions did not work. Even after calling them and asking them to attach my name and address to the card, they still didn’t work at most online transactions. So I would stay away from these.

Can you use the 20 off your shopping order from the week before and buy the new gift card on the same order?

I think most of the companies have figured out that the way Amex runs the offers is stupid by letting someone with 50 Authorized users get the deal 50 times and then the offer is filled up and the person with 1 credit card doesn’t get any.

For those who live in tax free states, it is worth it to buy the mcafee in store as you will then receive 5% back in rewards (assuming you are premier). For those who don’t live in a tax free state, buy the downloaded version online and make your shipping address to one of the tax free states, which will save you in tax more than the 5% back in rewards.

As a side note, has anyone noticed that Staples does not carry Kaspersky anymore?

Just change your shipping address to a tax free state (its downloaded anyway, so it really makes no difference what your shipping address is). The 5 tax free states are

Does anyone remember the directions for the cashier to put it in the register for the $15 off to work (when you are redeeming the coupon)? It seems like every year they never know how to do it and have to waste time calling a manager over, and I know in the old fatwallet forums I remember someone posted directions on how they have to put it in their computer.

According to ShopRite corporate, Shoprite gift cards are excluded ( even though they forgot to mention this in the ad).

They have never let you buy ShopRite gift cards in the past with this deal, so the assumption is that they are not allowed.

I’m not sure if you are referring to paying with visa gift cards or staples gift cards, but buying a gift card with a staples gift is generally not allowed. If you were able to do it, you got lucky that you a cashier that allowed it but that is very YMMV as 99% of the time they won’t.
