How hard is it to put one in?

I put a ssd to replace a spinner, in my desktop, I’m not much of a tech wiz, I followed directions from a utube video, and it worked out well, Same with memory upgrade on my desktop.

I would never try a laptop on my own, I’m afraid I would never get it back in one piece

We just purchased a similar laptop from Dell with a 256 ssd and a 7th gen i5 chip for $429, so there are choices with a ssd already included.

I was scared of doing a laptop mod for many years, but it’s really quite simple (assuming you have one of those laptops where the HD is easily removable.).

If you have to take the whole thing apart just to get at the HD, I just let the Dell tech do that for me.

I believe samsung SSDs come with the software to clone your existing drive (assuming it’s not larger than the SSD). You would also need an external usb enclosure to do the clone.

That’s a good question… I wonder if @dangeRuss can add a quick link on the toolbar at the top of every page. Would you mind creating a new thread about this in the support forum? I’m not sure if it is something he can do right away or without programming/coding, and I don’t want your request to get lost in this thread.

I checked and I didn’t see a way. There’s also no way for me to create a link for this in the toolbar since the URL is https://phatwalletforums.com/user/[username]/bookmarks

You can always just bookmark the bookmarks url in your browser and that way it won’t take you so long to get there.

No idea without looking at the bottom of the laptop. However, if I’m buying new, I’d prefer it have what I want out of the box.

And usually you will pay for it. If you know how to do simple things like upgrading the RAM/wireless card/HD yourself you can get much better deals.

Yes after the fix I am able to fully use the site in IE 11 with no issues. There must be some script that your configuration is blocking that is preventing the site from functioning. Unfortunately, unless you’re able to provide more information, there’s not much I can do to help you. We haven’t had anyone else report the issue, so for the moment it does look like it’s just you having the problem.

And here’s how to generate the code. You will need to know the coupon # which I believe is the rightmost 6 numbers, with the last one being the check digit.

Although not sure if that makes sense with these codes.

But basically if you have a working (but used) code, you can generate others. Just swap a # in the middle and then start messing with the check digit.

For example:

Lets use the check digit calculator here:

A bunch are posted here. They used to have a generator.

I think there are some #'s in those codes you can change and then just change the last # (the check and you will be able to generate a working coupon.

@oppidum I’m not sure how tech savvy you are, but hopefully you can figure this out. Can you check the console and see if there are any errors on there?

You can get to the console by opening up developer tools (which is one of the options under gears).

You may also be able to fix things by clearing your cache, although if you’re using private browsing it probably doesn’t stay in the cache.

You can also check the Network tab of the developer tools and hit the green play button and then browse around the site and see if you can see any blocked scripts or anything having trouble loading. You can also save the results if you don’t know how to read them and send over the har file (although I’d have to figure out how to read it.)

I use a lot of blocking/filtering/anti-malware/anti-exploit software and settings and I’m not seeing issues like those described above. @Oppidum, if you’re willing to give it a shot, try launching an InPrivate browser session in IE11 by clicking on the gear icon located at the top right of the window. Then click on Safety and then click on InPrivate Browsing. You can also just press CTRL + SHIFT + P to open an InPrivate session. If that displays okay, then it’s one of the add-ons/filters loading in a standard session.

Not sure why mobile view would help with this issue, but there are plugins like User Agent switcher which may help. I don’t believe this site acts any different on mobile though, it’s a responsive site, so if you make your browser window smaller, you will see the mobile view.

@oppidum Thank you very much for your detailed bug report. I was able to replicate last night with IE11 on Win 10. I reached out to the devs and we were able to find a resolution.

We upgraded to a new version of the forums yesterday and it looks like the upgrade was incomplete, but was only affecting IE. It should now be resolved.

On another note, if you are concerned about security, maybe IE is not the best option for you. In the past there were a ton of exploits for IE, and while they are greatly reduced now, I’m sure there are plenty of bugs in there left to exploit. Especially if you are going to stay on an OS that is going to be EOL in a couple of years (January 2020). If you are still using it then, you won’t be getting any more security patches for IE and will be vulnerable to any 0-day drive by hacks that the bad guys have in store.

I would suggest Chrome, which has a great plugins ecosystem (AdBlockPlus to block the ads for example), and it auto updates pretty frequently. You also don’t have to worry about sites not working properly as much, as IE is one of the more finicky browsers and most developers use Chrome to develop.

If your theater has the concession stand/coca cola freestyle in the lobby before tickets are taken, you very well can just get a soda, fill it and not buy a ticket. But soda prices at movie theaters are sky high, don’t know if it makes sense.
On SD they were writing that you don’t even need to buy a soda, the app works for about 2oz. pour and some were doing it without a cup…

I actually have some stubs points that I accidentally activated and I need to spend down. Two sodas for a ticket that I assume can be used to watch a 3d movie sounds like a good deal.

@ctgolfer with the new plugin you can just paste the link and it embeds it for you. Works differently for different sites, but seems to work well for ebay.

@Connman A new feature was recently introduced in which the graphics associated with a url/link are automatically inserted. @MrsGuin has no control over that. The size of the graphics is set by default and is, admittedly, way too large. Changing the default graphic size for links and uploads is actually something that the mods were just discussing with @dangeRuss again earlier this morning, and we hop to see a fix soon.

Although that won’t help here with the iframely embed. You can avoid the embedding by using the link tool. If the community agrees that recyclebank links shouldn’t be embedded, we can add them to the blacklist.

There is a plug in that does this, but it’s not quite ready for prime time.
