@my4mainecoons 27mbps is actually pretty good. How slow is slow? My phone tops out somewhere around 5mbps and the site loads fine.

The wait time is there to prevent new users to go on a spam posting spree. It drops down to 10 seconds after you get 3 reputation (3 upvotes).

The problem is that we have dark skins as well so if you change the color, I think you would need separate css per skin.

Looks like with all the users coming over from FW, we’ve hit the ceiling of what the default configuration of apache can handle, so I had to tweak the # of simultaneous connections. This should hold us over for a while, but I think long term we will need to move over to nginx, which should give us much better performance.

That awful default theme needs to be tossed. New users aren’t going to know about it and it sets a bad first impression.

Which skin do you think we should set as the default? Personally, I like spacelab.

My other concerns still hold about the display of threads. Avatars are too big on the pages listing threads. This results in seeing much fewer useful items on the page than optimal. Also, It would be nice if the page took advantage of the width or my monitor.

The width thing is fixed. Let me know what you think.

When looking at the list of threads:
Minor Design Issue: Tags and author links should probably have the same font size. right now it seems the author link is slightly larger.
Major Design Issue: The tags and author links shouldn’t be the same color as the thread title. They blur the attention and focus.
P.S. I used to advise FW on usability issues and user experience enhancements.

Will address these later. Not sure how much control I can have over the colors of things and still let people pick custom skins. @dotdots Do you think you can lend a hand here?

It’s something that’s on my list, but way, way down the road.

We don’t want to raise it too high, but I believe it should automatically resize it. I have bumped up the limit to 4MB.

@fivetalents I think @hawk1500 might be referring to …they had to modify their post to be x # of characters because there is a relatively high required number of characters per post. I ran into that yesterday. So I can’t just say “Thanks.” I have to expand it until it meets the minimum # of char.

This is just a guess on my part, but I was surprised at such a high threshold for a quick reply.

I think she means people’s emails under their profile.

I believe admins and mods can see them but not regular users.
