I learned about this probably 3 or 4 months ago through a direct email from Kroger. Since then I have earned $15 since I don’t buy most of the items they have in the program. Still, it’s a painless way to accumulate a bit of extra “money” which I’ll spend some week when the budget is tighter than usual. You have to specifically select the Cash Back option at the bottom of the drop-down menu to see the items that are available and click to add them to your list. That list is separate from your list of coupons you’ve loaded to your card, and there’s no way to print it like you can with the L-T-C coupons, so make a note of the ones you’ve selected as a reminder when you go grocery shopping.

RE: Disney's Kitchen Sink Dessert, PB&J Milkshake, Tonga Toast, Grey Stuff, Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, Monte Cristo, Beignets, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cookie Fries, Woody's Grilled Cheese, Dole Pineapple Whip, & Disney Churros
I tried the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup recipe, and it is tasty. I used a Dutch oven on top of my stove. Be aware it is quite thick when done, and it gets porridge-thick when cooled down and refrigerated. I thinned it a bit with a little more broth, a touch more ale, and a little more milk when reheating it. You definitely need to use an immersion blender at the end of the cooking to blend the ingredients into a fairly smooth (and thick) soup. We enjoyed it with thick slices of dense French bread (Italian would be good too), buttered and lightly toasted in the oven.

@yoregano I can’t even find any mags that are interesting (or that I have time for - talking to you Car & Driver). I just use the points for a local grocery chain for freebie coupons on milk and lettuce each month. Probably save $10 or so a month. Wouldn’t kill me if they stopped, but it’s the only thing that keeps me looking at RB these days!
Could you please explain how you do this? I didn’t see any way to get freebie coupons for milk and lettuce on Recyclebank. Thanks.

RE: Swagbucks Tips, Offers & Discussion Thread
Yesterday I managed to get SB in the morning from random searching several times. A few hours later, I wanted to search for a website, and I got a message that said I had been searching too much and needed to wait a while. Tried again about 4 hours later and got the same message. Tried again late in the evening, same message. Just tried searching for “blue poppy seeds”, something I’m looking for, and got a message that “no results can be found”, which is ridiculous.

RE: Amazon is bringing ads to Prime Video – the ad-free option will cost $2.99 a month extra
I’m already used to blanking out and ignoring ads on many of the media suppliers we use so the ads don’t really cause me to lose focus on the program itself, we budget our spending very carefully, and I’m not going to pay another $3 a month ($36/year) for Amazon Prime. Get something to drink, go to the bathroom, feed the dog, whatever during commercials.

RE: Swagbucks Tips, Offers & Discussion Thread
Thanks. SB has been my consistent points-earning site for several years now. Playing a game (I like Swagasaurus, fast and easy) 10 times gets 10 points, do the poll, try to get 6 of the 8 items on the To Do list, then surveys. Surveys can be frustrating with a lot of “Sorry, you don’t qualify”, but persistence usually gets one a day you can complete. Both MyPoints and SB have in-store purchase at Walmart, upload receipt, get points offers once in a blue moon, except at Christmas time. This year the deals were the same as last year - ArmorAll Car Care Kits (in the red bucket) and Kiwi products. This year they were even better. There were 3 different purchase time frames for the ArmorAll and two for the Kiwi products. The ArmorAll especially were appreciated gifts for family and friends this year. And the points from all those were enough to get a $50 Amazon GC on my MyPoints account and another on my husband’s MyPoints account, with points left over. Each of us is allowed a MyPoints account, according to their rules. SB also offered points for uploading receipts for purchasing those items at Walmart. SB allows only one account per household, though.

RE: Sears online only: Get $50 cashback in points when you spend $50+ on select winter clothes. Free shipping. Now through Sat., 1/20/18
I did this offer and got my $50 cashback points as soon as the items were shipped. You have to be careful to only choose items that have a red italic font “Spend $50, Get $50 CASHBACK in pts” at the bottom of the item image and price. I ordered Outdoor Life Men’s Insulated Gloves ($6 each x 4), Simply Styled Men’s Cardigan Sweater ($13), Structure Men’s Thermal Shirt ($6.99) and Laura Scott Petites’ Layered-Look Sweatshirt ($8). DO NOT USE ANY POINTS unless using the points will leave your total over $50. i.e, $65 order, use $14 in points, leaving $51 to pay for. You can also use a discount coupon if you have one, i.e., $10 off $40 or more, as long as the final total is at least $50 you have to pay. Unfortunately I didn’t have one of those, but I did spend $50 for those items and now have $50 to send in-store or online.

RE: Home w/Reverse Mortgage disposal upon death.
Read the Reverse Mortgage paperwork. There are NO payments due, ever, period. That’s the purpose of an RM. Once the mortgage company gets their pound of flesh via the upfront fees and charges (taken out of the money due the elderly person or persons), all that happens is interest accumulates…and accumulates…and accumulates. When the last person on the RM dies, the heirs have a choice of paying off the balance due on the RM OR letting the mortgage company have it. Period. I would not call it “foreclosure” since NO money is owed by anyone living or by the estate. Given the circumstances, go with 2 and just get it done. (I’ve conducted a fair amount of RMs over many years as a Mobile Notary Public working for title companies, so I am familiar with the wording and terms on typical paperwork for these.) I can’t think of any “risk” unless the heirs take out fixtures that are part of the real property (no removing the furnace or central H&A, for example) or they damage the property in the course of removing the personal property. Make sure you clarify with the mortgage company the status of the property insurance and responsibility for securing the property and protecting it during the transition and also access for the heirs to remove said personal property.

RE: Free Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Event at Target on July 21
butterflyblue, may I suggest you do a search first before posting something? This is something that would be of interest for most anyone near a Target, but by searching for “Target” or “Harry Potter” in the search bar (the little magnifying glass on the upper right of the page), you would have been able to see that it was already posted and just liked the post to help move it up or added some information that will help those that want to go to the event.

RE: allen + roth Yotta Cream Indoor Throw Rug (Common: 2 x 3; Actual: 2-ft W x 3-ft L) $9.37 @ Lowe's
Reviews are good at first, but several people say it starts clumping and matting after a few months use, even with minimal or moderate use. We have hardwood floors and want them just for bedside rugs to step on when getting in and out of bed this winter, so at $8.74 each, they’re fine for our use, and this one is a nice neutral color and design that will go well with our hardwood floors. I’m happy.

RE: $0.99 Werther's & Riesen Items (Up to 5 Times) AC @ Kroger & Affiliates
The Oscar Meyer Beef Franks for $1.99 are well worth stocking as they are never that low a price when they are (rarely) on sale. They freeze well, and can be fixed as hot dogs, as part of a casserole, or combined with other ingredients like rice or pasta or frozen hashbrowns, etc., and veggies for cheap filling meals throughout this winter when heating bills take more of the monthly budget. There’s tons of creative recipes online for inexpensive meals using hotdogs and cheap staple pantry/freezer items. I don’t like Red Baron Pizza, so I’ll pass on those.

RE: Garden Treasures Yellow/Black Steel Tube Bird Feeder @ Lowes.. $4.49 YMMV was $17.98
Your post with this excellent deal reminds me of a former PhatWallet member, itsfriday, who used to post real savings deals from Lowes (paintbrushes, rooster scatter rug, etc.) but was run out of here. He/she/it was on Instagram, but I can’t find him/her/it. There’s an Instagram thread for #lowesclearance, but it’s not userfriendly. I can’t figure out how to “like” or “follow” it. Seems like people just post an image, sometimes with a little info about the clearance price, sometimes not, and you have to pick an image and click on it to see the details.

RE: Online Product Prices May Rise as Shipping Costs Increase Due to Demand Exceeding Delivery Capacity
Amazon Prime or in-store pickup works for us. We use Amazon Prime for TV anyway since the only station we can pick up with our outside antenna is the local PBS station. Between what’s available for free with Amazon Prime and using the $1 digital credits earned with choosing the slowest delivery time on Amazon to buy or rent a series or movie now and then, we manage to find enough to watch. Most of the other places we shop, like Lowes, have in-store pickup. I agree that prices are going to rise, though, so it’s more important than ever that we share genuine good deals whenever we find them.

RE: Free Carando Italian Style Meatballs at Food Lion -coupon & MVP card
Thanks! Free is great, especially during winter months when more of our limited budget goes for the heating bill and less for groceries. My DH loves to make a crockpot full of slow-cooking pinto beans and ham hocks. I can take them or leave them…mostly leave them. So I suggested we add chopped-up meatballs during the last hour of cooking…and the beans tasted pretty darn good.

RE: Swagbucks Tips, Offers & Discussion Thread
Here is a nice double-dip if you are buying the Ziploc containers. Buy 4, make sure 2 of them are the gold-color containers with the Nutcracker offer on the box (these do cost a little more), turn in the receipt on either SB or MyPoints for 1,500 points, then submit the same receipt to get a free movie ticket for the new movie, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, here: https://www2.activaterewards.com/ziplocticket
Rules on the movie ticket are that the Ziploc containers must be the special “Nutcracker” theme ones, you can get up to 4 tickets per household, BUT you submit them 2 container purchases per receipt. So you’d need 4 receipts, each with 2 of the “Nutcracker” containers. I submitted the same receipt I used for MyPoints, which had 2 “Nutcracker” containers and 2 plain containers on it. I received almost immediate approval of my “Nutcracker” movie ticket and was able to activate and print the ticket right away. -

RE: Where are the best deals on copy paper? (now that Free-After-Rebate deals seem to have evaporated)
Just bought Staples Multi-purpose on a B1G1F at Staples - $59.99, so $30 a case of 10 reams. Not nearly as good as the FAR deals, but a decent deal if you need paper.
