On my Amex statement: “Effective February 2, 2018, Card Members will no longer be able to transfer Membership Rewards points to the Plenti rewards program.”
My guess is sometime early next year the Plenti program will be ending. With all these hints we are getting, the writing is on the wall. Who knows? Maybe it wasn’t Rite Aid (and all the other companies) leaving Plenti, but Plenti leaving Rite Aid (and all the other companies). It probably was not profitable for them as most decisions in business come down to dollars and cents. I guess there wasn’t enough interest by retailers in the Plenti program as they were hoping for. I am just hoping when the end does come that they give you enough of a heads up so you can use your points and there will be decent redemption options left. Being run by American Express though does make me feel better as they have excellent customer service and it would be hard for me to believe they would leave their customers unhappy. I wouldn’t be surprised if in January sometime Plenti made an announcement they were ending the Plenti program soon.

If any are left come next year… there were several in IL that all closed within the last year or two. Looks like they are mostly a CA and FL chain now.
True, but I live in California and they are still strong here. I can’t remember a time at dinner where the place hasn’t been packed with customers. I remember going to Soup Plantation when I was a young teenager and now I am in my later 40s, but I guess length of time in business is no indicator of current profitability, look at Sears and they have been in business over a century. I bought $600 worth at Soup Plantation and stopped there. We will be having a dinner for extended family this week sometime that will cost about $200 alone so I will be down to $400 then. They probably stayed in business in the regions they had the most customer traffic.
A little about Souplantation and its history (if you are interested as I was):
History
The first Souplantation restaurant opened on Mission Gorge Road in San Diego, in 1978. It was the idea of Dennis Jay, who was a bartender at the Bull & Bear in El Cajon. He had a dream and discussed with two friends of his: an attorney and a bail bondsman.[4] This restaurant and a second one were purchased in 1983 by Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp., founded by Michael Mack to operate the chain.
The company has expanded across the American West and Southwest, as well as opened locations in several Southeast states, including 23 restaurants in Florida. All of the restaurants are company-owned.[5]
In 2005, an affiliate of the private investment firm Sun Capital Partners purchased Garden Fresh and with it the restaurant chains.[6] As of October 2016, 104 locations remain in operation throughout the United States.[7]
In 2011, the company launched its first quick-serve restaurant, called Souplantation Express, in Carlsbad, California.[8]
In mass media
In 2007, a Souplantation restaurant in Orange County, California was linked to an outbreak of E. coli.[9][10] The restaurant closed temporarily while authorities investigated the outbreak.[11]
Bankruptcy
In October 2016, Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp, the owner/operator of Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes, filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy. At the time Garden Fresh was nearly $175 million in debt.[12] In January 2017 the company said it expects to emerge from bankruptcy later that month, following a sale of the company’s assets to New York-based private investment firm Cerberus Capital Management L.P. and its partners. Garden Fresh anticipates it will wind up with “between 90 and 104 restaurants” and “significantly less debt”.

I did the same thing. Should had waited. This a killer deal, since we go there all the time. I might buy another one.
I’m in for another $300 worth and six free meal passes. I now, in total, have $600 in Souplantation gift cards and 15 free meal passes. I pay with prepaid Visas I have, so no new money outlay. I’m stopping at $600 though. Next year I will learn their marketing pitch and wait to buy the gift cards until they give 3 free meal passes.

Their offer used to be buy $100 in gift cards and get TWO free meal passes, but starting today they have bumped it up one and will give you THREE free meal passes for each $100 in gift cards purchased.
Buy online or in-store.
My title says it all. I will also post this in the Holiday gift card thread but I thought this deal was so good that I wanted to spotlight it in a hot deal posting on its own.
I bought $300 worth of gift cards when they were just offering TWO free meal passes per $100, not they have upped it to THREE free meal passes per $100 in gift cards purchased.
I know in some places they have gone bankrupt and many locations are closing in others, but where I am they are still open and very busy (Orange County, So Cal).

I’ve used PP to buy Petsmart, Petco, Amazon, Kohls, Sears, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Shell, Mobil and RA gc in the past year. I bought $50 RA gc’s this past week with PP. You have to know what you’re doing and have cashiers who let you tell them what to do, lol
All you did was buy gift cards in the amount of manufacturer coupons you used in a given order. No magic there. Just taking advantage of a loophole.
As for the Plenti program at large, I think there is little risk to losing your earned Plenti points. Even if Plenti decided to end the program, I am sure they would give you prior notice so you could use your points up before the program closure.

By the rules you cannot buy ANY gift card (RA or Kph;s/Home Depot, etc. ) using Plenti points. The register will not allow it. However, there is a runaround if you use a lot of manufacturer coupons. In that case you can buy a gift card for the amount of manufacturer coupons you used in an order and it will take from your Plenti points to pay for it.

I feel pretty certain Amex is killing Plenti especially if the credit card is being dropped. And frankly without Rite-Aid earnings, I am not sure I would expect to really earn much from Exxon Mobil and the others.
I feel confident that Amex will have a way to pay out the balances from Plenti if it came to that, but it seems they need to cutoff earnings as fast as possible. That being said, seems like it is a good idea to keep redeeming. I have a double whammy as my state will have no Rite Aids at some point next year (WG takeover).
Rasheed
I guess we will all find out together what is the fate of Plenti early next year sometime. Maybe they will try to survive by attracting new companies to participate. I wonder if Plenti would have to pay out the balances of Plenti accounts or not if they discontinued the program. If you notice, they call them Plenti POINTS, not Plenti DOLLARS. The points themselves probably have no monetary value and it probably says that in the Plenti terms and conditions. But the mass exodus of companies participating is very telling that something is brewing in Plentiland.

Makes you wonder with so many companies leaving Plenti and them doing away with the Plenti credit card if they are continuing the Plenti program for much longer. Between my two Plenti accounts I have some $700 in points. not a small chunk of change. I’ve done well using them down. I n just several months I took it from an all-time high combined balance of $1,200 down to just $700.

Yes, starting 12/31/17 you will no longer be able to earn Plenti points anymore at Rite Aid, but you can still redeem Plenti points for Rite Aid purchases, along with other Plenti partners.

I think Rite Aid and Plenti are pretty committed to each other. The bigger issue is if one will still have Rite Aid stores in 2018. Mine are all being taken over by Walgreens so I’m cashing out.

Actually your statement “no more Plenti ar RA in 2018” might be misleading. From the e-mail to store managers I have the understanding that you will still be able to SPEND your Plenti points at Rite Aid. It just earning new Plenti points at Rite Aid will not be an option anymore.
I didn’t even know they are still in business, They have all closed down long ago in my area.

@mrvietnam What I suggest that you do is to buy 5 $10 gc for $50. Earn 1000PP. Use each gc once and choose the option to receive the balance back as cash. (IDK if anyone else posting lives in CA where the minimum to cash out gc is $10.) Then use that cash and a little more to buy your next $50 in gc.
This one time only I wish I lived in CA.
Thanks for the idea, Maine. I took your advice and bought 10 $10 Rite Aid gift cards on one Plenti card, paying with a prepaid Visa. So now after I buy anything with each of these cards, even only a penny in tax, the register will allow me to cash out the rest of the gift card as part of the transaction. Gotta love it.
I tried to buy 10 more $10 Rite Aid gift cards, but the cashier was astute and realized I was paying with a prepaid Visa and canceled the transaction and said you can pay with a gift card with a gift card. No problem. There are many Rite Aids in my area, so I will just find one more that will let me so I can max out the offer on my second Plenti card, too.
Bonus cash–says its only earned at Ra and can only be used at RA! So no more option of cashing out at other stores, like Macys and gas stations…
Here is the e-mail that store managers received.
Here is the front page of the 12/31 - 1/6 Rite Aid weekly ad.
Thx okdeal/sd
I’m done with this offer now. I bought 4 $300 cards (on 4 J4U accounts) using my Am Ex Blue Preferred card. After the built-in $4.05 overage and the 6% back for grocery store spending I figured I made just shy of $88 off this deal.
On a side note, not sure why, but I did not receive any fuel points for any of my orders (1 at Vons and 3 at Albertsons). The last time I did a similar offer a few months ago I got double fuel points back which gave me a nice discount at the pump.
Another observation is that evidently doesn’t come off on all of the variable load Visas. I tried one where the coupon didn’t come off. The ones that I tried that worked for me are the variable load Visa with all black packaging and the variable load Visa with flowers on the packaging. I recommend if you do this deal to get the Visa gift card instead of the MasterCard gift card. MasterCard does sequential account numbering which is very easy for the Dark Side to commit fraud and drain your funds. Visa card numbers are more unique and the account numbers are definitely not sequentially numbered.

This deal will work well too if you max out the deal in one transaction and have any of those $2 off $20 purchase Rite Aid Catalinas that were printing a while back. Is there a way to get the senior coupons online rather than getting them from the store?
No, I am pretty sure you have to get them at the store. Even if you could find the coupons downloaded by someone online, I doubt the store would accept them. Another thing to note is that these coupons technically are supposed to be for Seniors, so YMMV with a cashier letting you use them if you are younger looking. Although with that said I have never had a problem using them (I’m in my 40s).
Good deal. Thanks for sharing. This is something I could actually use and it’s free.
You begin the rebate process online and then you have to mail in the following:
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Signed Rebate Form
Original UPC Barcode Label
Address Validation- Rebate form address must match billing/shipping address
Copy of Amazon Final Details/Invoice with Rosewill Inc as seller
The $6.99 rebate is in the form of a prepaid MasterCard.
Limit One (1) rebate per qualifying item, per person, billing address, company, household
and receipt/invoice/packing slip during the eligibility period, except where prohibited by law.
Only valid for purchases made at Amazon.com.
I always choose Amazon Prime’s no-rush shipping so you get something extra every time you order. This time I was offered a $5 credit to Prime NOW. Last time I got a $10 credit to Amazon Restaurants. That was a no-rush shipping order but I ended up receiving it the next day anyway. It doesn’t really matter when the power cord arrives (as long as you get they receive the rebate form within 30 days of purchase). The purchase date is the important date (and that has to be today, 12/6.
I got on their mailing list so when they have future promotions they will e-mail me. This is also a good way of using down banked Amazon credit balances.
Thanks again OP.

Also, the language in the offer says “$150 or more” so you could get a higher value Visa if you wanted to milk your 6% grocery rewards on the Blue Preferred card before they reset on January 1. Am Ex has a $6,000 spending cap on 6% rewards.
Has anyone had any luck finding Sunkist 20 oz at a Relphs store? I look in the refrigerators in the front of the store near the checkouts but no Sunkist. I couldn’t find it at Food4Less either.
The trick to use Plenti points to buy a gift card (which I am not even sure works anymore) is to buy other things in the same order and use manufacturer coupons. You then purchase a gift card in the same transaction for the amount of your manufacturer coupons you used. So, for example, if you used $10 in manufacturer coupons you could then buy a $10 gift card and the register would let you pay for it in Plenti points.
Buy 4 Arnicare creams or gel which are BOGOF this week ($11.49 RR at my store). Use four $3 coupons from today’s RP and get back $5 + $3 + $3 PP. So you pay $10.98 and get back $11 in PP.
If you use or like the the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer my local stores had on clearance for $3.74 and there is a $3 coupon in today’s Smart Source so makes them .74. It is only the Monol Oil fragrance UPC 1910021581
