The catch is that to see threads in DD, you have to go out of your way to enter the DD forum. HD is the default forum shown on this site (at least for me), where when navigating to this site, the list of threads in HD automatically appear.

Personally, I hardly ever look in DD, which is why I’ve suggested that fewer eyeballs may see this thread/notification by keeping this notification in here.

Maybe I’ll post a link in HD to my thread in Credit (won’t bother copy/pasting it). It may fall off the top page of HD quickly, but in the short period of time it’s there, more users should see it.

@mistercheap My post wasn’t intended as a “dig” at you (no pun intended! ).

Was just explaining to the rest of the community why the post was copy/pasted (not by me) and why it wasn’t mirrored to HD (as that’s where I asked for it to be mirrored). I’m fine w/ the decision to place it in DD; however, I suspect fewer eyeballs will see the thread.

Effective Friday, September 21, 2018, Credit Freezes (and Unfreezes) are now FREE.

"Starting today you can now freeze and unfreeze your credit report nationwide for free (also referred to as a security freeze, credit report freeze or credit lock). This is thanks to the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act that was signed in May partly in response to the Equifax data breach. Under the new law consumer reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) have until the next business day to enact a credit freeze and if a consumer wants to lift the freeze it must be done within an hour. These consumer reporting agencies have created dedicated web portals for freezes:

• Equifax
• Experian
• TransUnion

A credit freeze means that your credit report is unable to be accessed or pulled from any of the consumer reporting agencies. Almost all lenders look at an individuals credit report before approving them for a loan, by having your report frozen this can prevent unauthorized loans in your name being processed – something particularly important to victims of identity theft.Previously the fees involved for placing and lifting a security freeze varied state by state. In addition fees also varied based on whether an individual was the victim of identity theft and also the individuals age. Some states already required consumer reporting agencies to provide credit report freezes for free."

If you receive a PICKUP CONFIRMATION email (which comes after the ORDER CONFIRMATION email, after item has been “grabbed” by the store and placed in the pickup area), then chances are high that you’ll get what you ordered. If not, you may be able to get a mgr to honor the price on a different model (huge YMMV on that), especially if you drove an hour away to pickup your order.

For those who are a distance away I’d suggest calling just to see if they have an item in stock. Let them do the walking, but NEVER request pricing.

It you need to give them the item # (to know what they’re looking for), they’ll see the pricing once they pull up the item (to view the computer inventory in-stock count). My rule of thumb is to simply NOT CALL and take your chances. I’ve had mixed success w/ these types of deals.

In the best case, there was a Magellan stand-alone GPS unit on clearance for $25 (MSRP of around $170 or $180). Brickseek indicated that a nearby B&M had 9 of 'em. They ALL turned out to be in the back (in an unpacked brown cardboard box). Had 3 different associates look for them until they were found.

Visited a B&M (~45 mins away) that supposedly has 8 in-stock (according to Brickseek). They were nowhere to be found. Had multiple associates help look for them. Found some TAL insulated cooler bottles (for perhaps $14.98) but not these 2-pack of tumblers. Total waste of time and gas.

Scan the different colored tumblers at your B&M locations. While recently on vacation, I found a Wally that had the 30oz Stainless Steel tumblers on clearance for $2/ea, and pure solid colored ones (like Navy Blue, Gray, Tan, etc.) for $1/ea!

The pure solid colored ones were actually placed on a clearance shelf (and marked for $2), but the stainless steel one were not marked down on the shelf (and so were located in the normal section w/ the rest of the OT tumblers/thermos type products). Looked up the price at a price scanner while at the store to discover that they were on clearance.

The solid colored tumblers were already OOS though, and Wally doesn’t PM their own stores anymore (they will PM some Wally.com prices @ Wally B&M’s), but as a test, I purchased a few pure solid colored tumblers at another Wally (for normal price), returned them (in the morning) to the one which had them for $1, then came back to that same Wally later that night. There they were sitting on the clearance shelf, so snagged 'em!

The non solid colored tumblers (with stainless steel stripe at top) were NOT on clearance at the aforementioned Wally.

At another wally, found a single green tumbler (with stainless stripe on top) on clearance for $2. That same Wally also had a 40oz stainless steel tumbler on clearance for $2.50. Neither tumbler was marked on clearance though (stumbled on it by checking store scanner). Didn’t need any more tumblers, so left them for another customer (they were gone 2 days later, but that Wally had in the meantime marked almost all of their OT products down and moved them to a clearance shelf).

Denied how? What was their reasoning?

The cashier (whom as I said was young) simply said that she’s not allowed to accept that cpn. She couldn’t provide any additional reason. I was tempted to make an issue out of it right there and then but figured I’d try my luck first at the other open register in the store (in a department located on the other side of the store).
