Same fee. I buy the $500 to pay for federal estimated tax, which is limited to 6 credit/debit payments per quarter.

I bought 2 $500 gift cards so fat using 2 different J4U accounts. I have Blue Cash Preferred, so for each $500 gift card it was a $32.87 MM (after 6% cash back on $496.95 and $3.05 MM on discounted price due to the $10 off coupon).
I bought one $500 card at Vons and another $500 card at Alberstons (both part of the Safeway family of stores). I think I will wait to buy the other2 $500 cards until tomorrow. (In my household we have 4 J4U accounts).
I just upgraded my Blue Cash Everyday Card to Blue Cash Preferred yesterday. The Preferred card has a $95 annual fee, so I need to charge $3,167 to pay off the annual fee of $95 ($3,167 x 3% = $95). Just this week I will be 63% there after charging $2K. Anything after $3,167 will be pure profit.

I never omit info, just add info. Not everyone knows what chains are related to Safeway, and Acme hasn’t always been, plus Acme is about the only east coast chain and as someone pointed out, had I not added it, they wouldn’t have known.
Please don’t take a slight modification to ‘add info’ as an insult Mr. V, was just trying to make the deal better known by listing specific chains, obviously it got the thread many more visits .

I already previously got an upgrade bonus a couple years ago, then I went back to Blue Cash Everyday. Now I am going back to Blue Cash Preferred so zi can make extra money with all these gift card offers lately.The Am Ex rep told me you can only get the upgrade/welcome bonus once and since I got it already I can’t get it again. At the time I got the upgrade bonus it was only for $150. Now. as you said, it is for $250.

Thanks for the good information. The rep checked for me. There was no upgrade bonus available at the time for my card, so I wasn’t able to get any upgrade bonus. I guess I could have opened a second Blue Cash Card and received the $250 and then canceled the Blue Cash Everydsy Card, but I decided not to take that route because I wanted to use it right away to buy $2,000 in gift cards before the Safeway offer ended at the end of the week.

The issue in that link looks like a processing issue, not fraud. The previous MC fraud problem should be associated with U.S. Bank. The current ones are issued by Metabank, just like the Visa.
For tax payment, my recent experience was that only Official Payments recognized the MC as debit card, not the two other processors.
