Codes SMART10 or AMZNPLUG might also work for $14.99, this brings the price to $10. Obviously not as good as the original $0.99 deal.
Worth buying if you’re eligible as worse case you should be able to sell it for a small profit. If you get the message ‘The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.’ this means you’re not eligible.
It worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you. I have a bunch of Echo and Google Home products, so if it works out I may buy some more smart plugs., I chose two day shipping and I just got an update that my smart plug would be delivered tomorrow.

Can anyone explain how these work? Can I literally just plug in my standard coffeemaker (which, uh, I may have in my bedroom because that’s how I roll) and say “Alexa, start coffee” and it will work?

Amazon Smart Plug lets you voice control your lights, fans, coffee makers, and more. All you need is an Alexa-enabled device like Echo, Fire TV, … Use your Amazon Smart Plug to turn on and off compatible devices that have a mechanical on/off switch.

You have to have an Alexa enabled device. That usually means having a smart speaker like an Echo or Echo Show. The actual coffee maker does not need to have Alexa capabilities.

Plug does not work with EERO Mesh system. Adds through Alexa, then forgets the plug when you wake up the following day. Amazon sells both. If this is your situation they will just refund the discounted price with tax, in my case $5.40. You get to keep the plug.
