In response to current events, Warner Bros. is offering free streaming rentals of its film “Just Mercy,” from the director Destin Daniel Cretton and starring Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx.
“Just Mercy,” released in theaters on January 10, tells the true story of Bryan Stevenson (Jordan), a civil-rights attorney who works to defend Walter McMillian (Foxx), who was wrongfully convicted of murder.
You can rent “Just Mercy” for free in June through a variety of digital movie services in the US, including Apple TV, FandangoNow, Google Play, Amazon Prime Video, Redbox, the PlayStation Store, Vudu, Microsoft, and YouTube.

Just watched in youtube, was pretty good.

Just Mercy was probably the best historical drama in a while. If you count the mid-80’s as historical.
The director also made an amazing debut movie, Short Term 12. If you have a library card, most of them give you access to Hoopla, which has that movie for free. Highly recommended.

Hoopla is free to public library users in cities that sign up for it, but do come at a cost to the libraries that adopt it. When a user borrows an item, libraries pay between $0.99 to $2.99 per title. " No way a small town library can afford that, I’m not even sure how a metro one can either in these times.

I didn’t know that about the library paying hoopla though, but the site you’re referencing is from a 2014 article, I would think things have changed. Plus there’s Kanopy for library users too.
