PSA: Amex Plenti to lose several partners in 2018
https://www.plenti.com/faqsAmex Plenti partners are dropping out at the start of 2018:
Nationwide, Direct Energy, Enterprise, National, Alamo, Hulu, and local dining.
This is in addition to AT&T which has already left the program.
-
i better start using my points.
-
@myjunk plus the Walgreens locations that take over Rite Aid stores will no longer be part of the PLENTI program, that too will occur in 2018 sometime
-
Man I’m going to lose my $1k in points if exxon stops being a partner…
-
The Hulu loss is disappointing for me, as it was pretty easy to get up to 600 points a month by watching 10 episodes of select shows in certain categories. I thought something must be up, as those offers stopped appearing months ago.
In the Chicago area, none of the grocery or drug stores that participate are located here, and most of the partners leaving are irrelevant to me anyway. Local dining is no big deal, there are several other programs that offer similar benefits, like Swaybacks. Mobil/Exxon is about the only place to both earn and redeem points for me. As long as that one partner remains, this program has some usefulness. But this mass dropping of partners is still not a good sign.

well, then don’t recommend buying the RA gift card starting Sun. for 1000 PP. $10.00 profit, but who knows how long the PP will be around. Although they would probably give warning to us your points as of a certain date.

I think Rite Aid and Plenti are pretty committed to each other. The bigger issue is if one will still have Rite Aid stores in 2018. Mine are all being taken over by Walgreens so I’m cashing out.

Luckily I am using a lot of the Plenti points I have. At my peak I had about $600 in points on each of my Plenti cards. Now I cut that in half to about $300 points on one card and about $356 on the other card. I always pay with points every time I shop at Rite Aid now. I agree with Maine that Rite Aid won’t be dropping Plenti anytime soon as that is their loyalty system over at Rite Aid and luckily the Rite Aid stores near me are not turning into Walgreens (as far as I know at least).
-
how do you know which RA will become a WG? Employees are the last to know. I have 5 RA here and 1 WG, which I hate. One RA worker told me they are staying, and the others said they are switching/…who knows?
-
@barrytuneup ask your DM We have 30 stores and will only have 10 when its all done. DM said they will be keeping the ones in the southern part of the state. I’m in northern part of the state. I asked if it will be the ones near Albany and he said yes.

I can’t believe that you ever paid real money at RA. After initial “start up” of about $25/card I’ve not used real money unless buying Visa or Best Buy gift cards. Otherwise I pay for gift cards with Plenti Pts.
-
Yeah rite aid and plenti are hand in hand.
I still don’t find it very appealing.

You can buy gift cards with points?
-
@c3 not legally but a fair number of folks do it.
-
@my4mainecoons they’ve pretty much closed that loop hole at RA, at least that was my recent experience.
-
@mistercheap I’ve done it in the past few weeks and expect to do it this coming week.
-
@my4mainecoons What gift cards can you buy at Rite Aid with Plenti points? I always understood that you can’t use Plenti points to buy gift cards. Or is it only certain gift cards?

I’ve not bought Visa or MC but you can buy any gift card using PP. I usually buy the gc that are giving PP back that week. This week I’ll probably get Petco. In past 6 mo I’ve bought various ones. Need to be an experienced coupon user and comfortable telling cashier in what order to do things.
-
not true, I bought Dominos gc last month when they had the deal, and along with other stuff, PP were taken off for all ltems except the gc. It was hard coded in register. I had to use a 3% credit card for that. They also have the Dominos deal this week along with a RA gift card. Debating whether to buy.
-
The trick to use Plenti points to buy a gift card (which I am not even sure works anymore) is to buy other things in the same order and use manufacturer coupons. You then purchase a gift card in the same transaction for the amount of your manufacturer coupons you used. So, for example, if you used $10 in manufacturer coupons you could then buy a $10 gift card and the register would let you pay for it in Plenti points.

Exactly. I don’t have thousands in PP because when my acct totals get over $250 I buy gc to get point total down. So instead of hundreds of PP I have hundreds in gc. The special holiday gc display is nice because there are $10 gc on it. I’ve been getting PetSmart but they have a $10 eBay gc and lots of restaurant gc for $10. Easy to do this week with Senior Day coupons on Wednesday.
-
@barrytuneup bought a $25 Petco gc today. Paid w/ PP. Earned 500PP for buying the gc.

I still don’t find it very appealing. So much for my certainty about RA and Plenti… No more Plenti at RA in 2018.
-
Wow, glad I don’t have much plenti points.

Actually your statement “no more Plenti ar RA in 2018” might be misleading. From the e-mail to store managers I have the understanding that you will still be able to SPEND your Plenti points at Rite Aid. It just earning new Plenti points at Rite Aid will not be an option anymore.
