Thanks, MC. Would have spent full price buying food, bedding, and hay for my guinea pig, Jack, anyway. Nice to be able to get it at 20% off. This could make for some good deals when coupled with PetSmart store coupons for added savings…

@mrvietnam Never pay full price at PetSmart https://www.giftcardwiki.com/gift-cards/PetSmart

@mrvietnam Show us the pig, please!

@MrVietnam don’t forget to price match where it saves money! they will match chewy.com online prices in store for instance. Then coupon on top of PM.

Yes, I have been price matching sometimes. Does chewy.com have the cheapest prices around? I have Petco around here, but they are just as expensive as PetSmart if not more. But thank you for the reminder.

you have to compare, depends on the item, but almost typically they are cheaper than instore Petsmart prices.

Talk about unlucky. My 4x$25 Petsmart gift cards were delivered today via Fed Ex at 5:52 pm (according to the Fed Ex tracking information). I went to my door just 5 minutes later and I saw the padded envelope had been opened by a tear in the corner of the envelope and the gift cards were gone. I chatted with Sam’s Club and they said since it was a gift card they are unable to ship out a replacement. I asked to talk to his supervisor and he said I would have to call on the telephone to talk to a supervisor. I called Fed Ex and filed a claim. They said someone would contact me via telephone in the next 24-48 hours. Either the Fed Ex driver did it or someone was following the Fed Ex truck as just 5 minutes later I opened my front door and the theft had already happened.
Am I out of luck or is there any chance I can get my money back or a replacement? I wonder if I could open a case with the bank of the credit card I used when I placed the order? That is the first time a package contents thief had struck our house as long as I can remember and I have lived in the same house for nearly my entire life.
Luckily I only lost $80. It could have been much, much worse.

I don’t know why you would have to file a claim - not sure you even can. Sam’s club should be on the hook for a replacement order (or refund) and filing a claim on their side as they are the shipper.
Also I suggest you get something like a ring doorbell, which would’ve caught whoever did this (not that it necessarily would’ve stopped the theft).

Dispute the charge with your credit card company as you did not receive the items your ordered.

Ring only helps as evidence if they catch the person or you post the video somewhere that makes a difference.
At least that’s what I’ve seen on YouTube. 😉
That’s why you can pick up Amazon packages at Rite Aid, et al. Or require a signature.OT: I needed to return a Fire to Staples. Off shore CS told me to just put it in a box and leave it outside. No label. Nothing. They said that Fedex would pick it up. Seriously? They told me that a replacement would arrive on Dec. 22 and at the same time they would pick up the defective one.
On Dec. 18 I arrived home to find that Fedex had left a box in between the 2 overhead garage doors. I’ve never had anything left there. Deliveries have always been left on my front porch or at the side door below the mailbox. Never on the driveway in the snow. SMH.

Kudos to Sam’s Club for stepping up to the plate on this one and taking ownership of the issue. I called in Thursday night about this theft and by early Friday afternoon I was sent this e-mail by a Sam’s Club back office team member:

$79.98As a side note, I noticed the mailing padded envelopes that Sam’s Club uses to mail out gift cards are very easily torn open, but on the other hand when I buy a Walmart gift card and have it sent to me it is in a much stronger mailing envelope that is impossible to open unless you cut it open. Sam’s Club should learn from that. They should also require that all gift cards be signed for. Maybe they have a certain dollar threshold when they do, but a while back I bought a couple hundred dollars in gift cards for Golden Corral from Sam’s Club and I didn’t have to sign for those either.
It will forever be a mystery who stole the gift cards from the mailing envelope, but whoever it was, they did the dirty work almost immediately after it was delivered. Just 5 minutes or so after from online tracking it says it was delivered, I went to pick up the mail and the envelope had already been breached. My wife thinks it may have been the mailman or the Fed Ex driver, but who knows? You would hope you could trust those guys. Maybe it was just an opportunistic crime and someone happened to see the Fed Ex truck and decided to strike. I guess I need to start mailing my mail at the Post Office and being a lot more careful with my mail and packages. Like not letting mail or packages sit out on the porch for any length of time. Unfortunately I also received the physical $20 Philadelphia Cream Cheese promo gift card that day and I lost that, too. I will have to call them and see what they say…

They likely cancelled the issued gift cards (probably weren’t redeemed yet) Likely the thief doesn’t even have a pet and was trying to sell them on Facebook or pawn them. Glad it worked out for you @MrVietnam !!

Welcome to pet ownership! Look for hay at a lawn & garden center. I think I paid $3 for the bale that’s in my garage. Tractor Supply has good prices for bedding, hay and possibly food. People around here get free wood shavings from the saw mills. Bring big trash bags and a shovel. I rarely buy anything at PS or Petco but if I do I’m using coupons and a discounted gift card.
Not as good but you can get $100 PS gc at supermarket. 5% back from Discover this quarter and $2 in j4u Rewards. Sadly the 2% back from iBotta ended this past week.

Yes, that is what I am thinking, too. They probably canceled the gift cards. The crook was probably disappointed they were to a pet store.
