I just got an e-mail from Big Lots. They said the last time that you can use a Big Lots gift card will be on January 16, 2025. So if any of you have any unused Big Lots gift cards, you have just eight days to use them up.
A snippet from the e-mail:
As you may know, our stores are currently undergoing liquidation. As a result, this means we will no longer be able to accept Big Lots gift cards after January 16th.

No matter what the cashiers may try to tell you at the register, the rewards coupons that you get for spending at big lots will continue to scan and work. I had a $5 off $15 coupon that they kept on telling me that they couldn’t accept any coupons during the liquidation sale, but last week I got an email from big lots saying that although you can’t earn new rewards coupons, the existing ones can be used and they will work. I asked to talk to a manager, but the cashier said “OK let me just scan it and see if it works” and of course it did.

I wonder if I didn’t get an email because my local store isn’t affected or is this chain wide? i know some are staying in biz.

I believe they said all stores are closing, then after a few months they are going to reopen a few hundred. They aren’t saving any jobs and all employees will have to reapply when they open back up.
