Bump Expired Costco New Members Valid through 8/2/26 | $50 Costco Card Promotion available Online Only

Tempting, but I don’t need a membership. I just use Costco cash cards and they act as a membership card, getting me into the store and allowing me to make purchases (and returns). I can also buy Costco gas and pay with my cash cards.

You need to have a membership though to buy cash cards, but I just ask a friend to get me $2,000 worth once every couple years and I am set.

  • I’m a Costco Executive member. We are retired now, so I’ve been looking into traveling offers. We decided to take an Adventures By Disney trip to China next year. I booked it through Costco Travel. We’ll get a 2% Costco Executive rebate (for booking travel through Costco Travel), and a $1,900 Costco GiftCard after completion of the trip.

You can book various Disney package trips through Costco Travel and it’s the same price as booking directly with the Disney site. Only difference is Costco may offer additional perks, such as a free GC. (A couple of years ago I booked a Disneyland package through Costco and received a Disney GC as a perk. So it’s not just big trips that have bonuses.)

I’ve been a Costco member for 40 years. It’s well worth it to me.

It looks like membership is $65 so net of $15 for a year.
Not sure if it’s worth $25 if one has a stockpile of household goods from Staples & drug store deals.

I’d only shop online because the nearest warehouse is 90 minutes away.

    How it Works

    Step 1 — Purchase
Select your Gold Star ($65/year) or Executive ($130/year) membership. You’ll receive a confirmation email with your membership number — you can shop on Costco.com immediately.

Step 2 — Get Your Physical Membership Card (optional)
Visit any Costco warehouse with a valid photo ID to get your physical membership card. Your household member can get their own card the same way, free of charge. A physical card is not required for online shopping or to receive your Digital Costco Shop Card, but you need a physical card or the Costco app to purchase in the warehouses.

Step 3 — Costco Shop Card Delivery
Within 2 weeks of your purchase, Costco will email the $50 Digital Costco Shop Card directly to qualifying members.

Important: The $50 Digital Costco Shop Card is available to new members only, or those who haven’t held a Costco membership in the past 18 months. If you already have an active membership, this offer won’t apply, and the Costco Shop Card will not be issued.

  • @kohlspowrshopper Why go through Groupon, it doesn’t make sense! Deal with Costco directly!

  • It does make sense if one thinks outside of the box, @Marvomatic: if an identical item with identical terms is additionally for sale on multiple deal sites, and one can get exclusive discounts and/or cashback by purchasing through such deal sites (rather than directly through the source site), one can realize even more savings on the deal.

In this case, up to 12% cashback is currently available on Groupon purchases, with potential additional savings (for example, a pop-up window with a special 20% off offer appeared when I viewed the Costco membership offer page, but I didn’t test it in a shopping cart).

In cases where one has a special offer from a credit card, such as the 40% cashback offer from Chase and 30% cashback offer from Wells Fargo and US Bank on a Sam’s Club membership, then going directly to the source site to make the purchase would make the most sense.

TCB gives 10% if you’re a new Groupon user but only 1% if you’re a previous user.
Rakuten excludes the Costco offer from cb.

  • If you are interested in doing this offer, but put it off to the very last minute, I would recommend you wait until Saturday to get your membership because then it will be good for 13 months rather than just 12 months because all memberships expire the last day of the month you bought them and Saturday is August 1 .

Rakuten has 2% cb from StackSocial and StackSocial has the annual membership for $65 with $50 gc offer. Then, while learning about StackSocial a limited time offer popped up offering the membership for $55.xx.

Cool. tomortow morning I will try to replicate. Did you get a membership when the $55.xx offer popped did you get a membership?

Is the discounted price to make it $55.xx for getting 15% off when you provide your e-mail address? I noticed when I was looking at the Costco deal on StackSocial it said:

This item is excluded from coupons.

I wonder if providing your email address for 15% off would be considered a coupon? According to Google, it is:

Yes, the 15% off offer is considered a coupon. When you provide your email address on StackSocial, they send a unique promo code or coupon code directly to your inbox to use on your first order.

@cheapcharlie9 I didn’t order yesterday because I was waiting for today, thanks to you. I also wanted to learn more about StackSocial as I’d never heard of it. It sounds like they sell codes and the only issue people had was redeeming the code on the Costco website.

If there’s a way to have an issue I’ll have it. Have messed up several deals this week. So for me its not worth the possible hassle for 2% cb ($1.30) from StackSocial or 65¢ from Groupon.

ETA: Just checked Rakuten and the Costco gc is only $20 now!
ETA2: Unable to receive email code from Costco so have to call them. That probably would have voided any cb so I’m happy I didn’t even try.

Can anyone verify that you need to enter “GOLDEN” as the promo code in order to get this deal? I saw this on Google AI:

To get the $50 digital Costco shop card, you must use the promo code GOLDEN at checkout, sign up online directly on the Costco Join Page, and enroll in auto-renewal with a Visa or Mastercard debit card by August 2, 2026.Offer DetailsCost: $65 for a Gold Star membershipPromo Code: GOLDENDeadline: August 2, 2026Requirement: Must be a new member (or not a member in the past 18 months) and set up auto-renewal.

But on the Costco website I do not see it mentioned anywhere that you need to enter the promo code “GOLDEN”.

EDIT: I just got off the phone with Costco customer service and they sad no promo code is required for this promotion. I wonder where Google AI came up with needing to enter the promo code “GOLDEN” from? I guess it is no big deal as if you don’t get the $50 gift card in two weeks after joining you can always cancel your membership and get the full amount back. Remember you must not have been a member for 18 months and you must sign up for auto renewal to be eligible for the offer.

Wow, I got lucky Club memberships are supposed to be taxed in CA, but the Costco website did not charge me any sales tax. So it looks like my membership will cost me OOP $15, instead of the expected $21.01.
