Just noticed it says “$25k” to open, should be “Open with just $25”No balance limit to get the 1.80% rate? I don’t see that mentioned on their website.

Have to open another account !
-
I opened and funded the account on July 7th. I have a linked external account, but when I try to transfer some of my money out of my Bread account into an external account, no matter what amount I put, I get the error, “That’s more than you have to transfer!” Even trying $1 gives that error. Is there a reason I can’t transfer any amount of money out? I sent them a message, but anyone here know if they have some limit where the money has to stay in your account?

To answer my own question. It turns out there is a 10 business day hold for accounts <30 days old. That gets reduced to 5 business days for older account. Kind of annoying, but it is what it is. I just wish they were more upfront with it. Here was their exact response:
Within the first 30 days following account opening, all deposits will have a 10 business day hold applied. Please note that this hold does not apply to direct deposits initiated by your external financial institution or wire deposits.
Following the 30 day new account period, the hold for electronic deposits initiated by Bread Savings (via telephone or through your online banking) will decrease to 5 business days. The hold time for deposits by check will remain at 10 business days.

@jtownsucks46 Merchants is definitely the highest rate I’ve seen so far, but I have an account with them & it’s very difficult to maintain. It’s hard for me to transfer funds in, because my bank (BofA) charges a fee to transfer to an outside bank account. I realize that’s not the case for everyone, but just be aware of this. The info I got from Merchant’s a few months ago is as follows:
There are three ways that you can transfer to and from your account with us:
1.Wire transfer ( We will refund our wire fee in or out. You will just need to let me know that you are doing a wire so I can refund it)
- ACH ( You would need to initiate it through the financial institution that you are moving the funds from or to)
- Check. (You can mail a check to us and we will deposit it for you or you can write a check to move funds to you other financial institution)
-
Great thread! Thanks for maintaining it.
We are trying to open a Joint savings / MMKT account. Does anyone have a list of which banks offer Joint accounts? Some banks have FAQs online that state whether they do or do not (e.g. E*Trade and Bask Bank) offer Joint accounts.
However, other banks, such as Merchants Bank of Indiana, do NOT have FAQS / do not state up front whether they offer Joint accounts or not.

I didn’t know there were any banks that charged for ACH transfers - that’s wild that BOA does that!!!
-
Still a few that charge for ACH, often inbound free, outbound for a fee.
Salem Five did this a long time ago.
I had an account (First Citizens) I wanted to close, but outbound
ACH was $1.50, so I just used free billpay to zero out the account.https://www.mybanktracker.com/checking/faq/ach-transfer-fees-290332

Isn’t that for ACH originating from CFG? Pulling or pushing from another bank to/from CFG should not have those limits?

Not sure. If you call the bank and find out, please report back!

I don’t know about CFG, but SFGI no longer allows external ACH pull.

Fun fact, you can call your bank and request a higher rate! ConnectOne has matched one of the top 5 accounts on this list for me last month and this month. Currently at 2.26%

I pulled money out back in February with no problem. I’ve had an account for 10 years and sometimes they have good rates and sometimes not. Now, not, otherwise I would investigate further.
