Now I don’t know what’s going on. I just got an email from Popular Direct saying my account would be funded as soon as I verified the trial deposits. I have already set up an account with Investors earning 1.9%. Gawd, why is this so hard???
If you’re not going with Popular, I would recommend a Northpoint Savings account paying 2.05%.
Need at least $25K to fund the account. Rate is good for balances up to $1,000,100. Does that mean that if I earn interest on $1,000,100 that I hit the next tier and my rate actually goes down?

Guess Dollar Savings Bank will bump up to over 2.05% as per it’s stated policy.
"**Highest nationally advertised annual percentage yield for day of deposit to day of withdrawal accounts, no minimums required."

@atikovi
They haven’t changed yet. When they do it is for current and new depositors.

Technically, I guess they can claim they do have the highest rate with that criteria.Except for Northpointe…hence the 2.05% reference.

@jtownsucks46 Current customer -
Called Salem Five and requested new higher rate - got it !You mean the higher rate doesn’t automatically apply to existing accounts?
-
@atikovi Nope…you always have to call in and request it (although they have no issues automatically dropping your rate when rates go down). At least for now they aren’t requiring an additional deposit in order to get the rate increase. In times past, I’ve had to deposit additional funds in order to get the new rate.

I went with Citizens Access myself. Realize its not the highest rate but interested in the absolutely no fees ‘gimmick’. I hate having to worry about ACH fee or inactivity fee or other random fees hitting. And I know this is an offshoot of the huge Citizens Bank so that gives me just a little bit more confidence in them. So far was a very quick few minutes to setup an account, and awaiting trial deposits to go through (from a Bank of Internet account where I’ve been very unhappy with their service and rates).
Minimum is $5k here. Haven’t so far seen any hard pulls but at least for the free sites I use these seem to lag a few days so we’ll see. My Chex is very clean (haven’t opened a bank account in years).
