I tried to pay with eBay gift cards that I bought some time ago at 20% off, but the system wouldn’t let me. I checked the balances and they had money on them. Do they no longer allow you to buy gift cards with eBay gift cards? This is a good deal as it is, but would have been a stellar deal if I could have got another $17 off the $15 this deal offers (nearly a third off), but no dice.

Correct. You can NOT pay for gift cards with eBay gift cards.
