Got my wife an LG Fiesta last Christmas ($89.99 at Evine). It’s been a good phone so far. She uses the 13mp camera alot, even though she has a $900 DSLR she uses for work.
One other interesting fact about this phone is that it is OTG capable.
Unfortunately, when we activated it at Christmas, we only got the standard 1500/1500/1.5gb.
-
My kids each have an LG Fuel. They’ve never needed anything more, the phones just sit in their backpacks for when they’re needed. They barely touch them.
It’s coming upon time to get them more time (they have a ton of minutes, due to them never using them.
I’ve noted that the card range between $85 and $99 for a one year card (both smartphone and tripling cards).
or…I can get this for $50 which already has the year. Basically, if I pick up three of these, it’s half the price for just the service, and with a brand new phone.
https://www.ebay.com/i/282512558448?chn=ps
I am questioning if I can move over the existing minutes / time / data to this phone relatively easily, AND use the 1200 on the phone to extend the service…

It’s super easy to move your old minutes onto the new phone. I would suggest getting a different phone though, 8 gb is not enough room anymore, with just google’s stuff. There are quite a few phones on sale at hsn and there is a $15 off $30 purchase if you use masterpass at checkout. I wish the rebel 3 was still on sale, that would be a great phone for your kids.

Moving the minutes isn’t the issue…being able to use the minutes and time from the new phone to extend the service is.
is this one of those phones that incorporates the card into the phone, itself?
These phones will be fine for my kids. They’ve got LG Fuels ATM, and they just use them as phones (and rarely at that. They’re not big phone people).

ArthurPeale: The phone(s) you are contemplating are certainly an upgrade to the Fuel, and will do the same job as the fuel, plus additional things that will be illustrated in the brochure if you choose to go that way.Minutes can be transferred from the old to the new to “activate” the new phones. Next you will add the minutes that come WITH the phone, and in the process you’ll be adding the one year plus data and text buckets. I highly suggest you use Tracfone’s Chat CSR for the procedure and ask for the completed chat to be emailed to you upon completion. I also recommend you open a Tracfone account (you can put both/all phones in the same account). There is no and check them either from your PC or from the phones , themselves. charge. Some of the benefits are you can keep tabs on all the balances for each phone(min/text/data) and check them either from your PC or from the phones , themselves. This may all seem quite complicated but it is not. This will be the least expensive way to go and the best part is after the initial year you can just buy new phones and do it all over again. Good Luck. Comee back and ask for help if you need it.
-
arthurpeale…be sure to activate with the fuel minutes FIRST. If you activate with the minutes that come with the phone you wont be able to add from the fuels!.
-
Gonna try a smartphone again.
LG Rebel 2 lte should be here in a couple daysLooking for suggestions and comments on
activation, setup and use.
Thanks
-
@shaniko86 Adding an SD memory card is simple. It mounts over the sim card, a piggyback arrangement.

Will do.
I’ve had a Tracfone account for years, so that’s a non issue.
I’m assuming that I would add the new phone to the account, then move the service over, is that correct?
Is the time on the new phone on the phone itself, or is there a card?
-
No card, thats why you should activate with a transfer and THEN add minutes that come with phone.
-

That’s what I thought. How does that work? With a transfer, the minutes are just added phone to phone, but with no card, how does the bundle handle that?
-
There will be instructions with the phone on how to add the minutes but I can’t stress enough to do the transfer from your old phone first! The best way to do it is thru Tracfone chat. https://www.tracfone.com/contactus Ask them to clarify your balance first, do the activation, keep chat active until your minutes/data/text arrive on the new phone. When all is done ask them to send you the chat transcript by email and/or copy and paste the transcript yourself.Wait a day or two and then add in the min/data/text that came with the phone.
-
I get all of that, I’ve done transfers before (from phone to phone), but I’ve never added minutes when there’s no physical card or number…that’s the part I’m hung up on…can you clarify how that part works?
-
When you transfer/activate the bundle phone, the bundle automatically gets added - been this way for many months now.
Important to select to transfer existing TracFone number/service before the bundle phone activation process.
We suggest having TracFone CSR via chat document the current phone’s balance before starting the transfer/activation process - and optionally letting them then do the transfer/activation of the new phone. Be sure to request an email of the chat transcript and copy it off the screen before closing the window if the email doesn’t arrive.
-
The Rebel 3 is on sale again at HSN. Nice little phone for a great price. Would like to see if these come with TMFL again or if they caught on.

Do I add the phone to my account first, or do everything via chat? I haven’t had the best luck with chat.
-
Verify by chat CSR what the balance of the original/donor is. Have them do the transfer and during this process the m/t/d that came with the phone bundle are added in as well. Then you can open an account or add to a current account. At that point you want to ask for email of chat transaction and/or copy and paste the conversation into a document on your pc. Make sure the phone has transferred and totals are correct before you close chat.
-
I added the phone to my account, and transferred the phone number, screenshotting all along the way.
Wasn’t needed - everything transferred over.
Even the phone number migration from Verizon to Straight Talk only took ten minutes.
Thanks for your assistance!

I’ve got another kid whose phone service is expiring soon. What’s my current best bang-for-my-buck promotion on a one year Tracfone bundle with a halfway decent phone?
I’d get another of the one I posted above, but it’s no longer available

I’d rather have the J7 Pro, but the J3 Pro at this price seems good. Thoughts?
There are a few deals on HSN with which I could use the MasterPass discount, but the phones seems to suck.
I currently have a Galaxy S4, but the battery is dying. I need a year of service on November 18th, or sooner.

- Why not just buy a $7 - $10 OEM replacement battery for your S4 on Amazon or eay?

Oh…that’s only good for certain deals? Darn. I didn’t know that was how it worked.
As for the battery, the whole phone is starting to show its age. So…$10 for a battery, $100 for a years service…or, a new phone, with battery AND a years service for $100 (or, hopefully, less if a deal can be found).
Does that answer your questions?

Actually, I meant that the deal I posted a while back for $20 off $40+ with code 180426 expired completely/for all deals… on 09-30-2018. After your post, I looked around and there seems to be another code out there for $20 off $40 (187109) off but I haven’t found the terms yet (MasterPass is still only listing the expired deal on their site). I’ll create separate thread for the new code.
As for the battery, I just wanted to make sure that you weren’t so used to Apple, didn’t realize, or just forgot that Samsung batteries are user upgradeable.

OK, I found the T&Cs for the new $20 off $40 at HSN with MasterPass checkout deal and posted a new thread here. The terms are essentially the same as last time and should work on the J3 Pro… I’ll leave it to others to advise whether the deal on that model is good since I don’t know.

I don’t know if this is a good deal, so I’m putting it out there in case it is. Kroger has a GC deal for $5 off of a $29.99 TRACFONE Prepaid Phone Card (e-delivery).
Maximum discount allowed is subject to a maximum sum of $15 per customer. (You can order up to 3 and get a $15 discount. Since it is email delivery, I suspect you don’t need to live in a Kroger market area to purchase it. The $5 off works on various plans up to $125, but the % off is obviously greatest on the cheapest plan)
Plan provides 120 Minutes for Texts, Talk, and Web. 90 – Day Air Time Service Plan.
No Contract. Nationwide coverage on America’s largest, most dependable network. This Service Plan can be used to refill your current TracFone Service or be used to activate new TracFone Service.

How do you think this compares with getting two LG Fiesta 2 phones for $80? The Fiesta 2 also has 16GB and 1 year of 1200/1200/1200 service. Which is a better phone (i.e., is one Rebel 4 much better than two Fiesta 2s)?

Android 8.1 on the rebel vs. 7 on the fiesta. Biggest thing is the t-mobile network is not good in the country areas. Didn’t a poster have an issue getting 2 phones? I like the fiesta, I’m using it now. But I also like the rebel. Like I said in the other thread, the t-mobile network is useless to me.

Thanks, I’ve been Googling but still didn’t come up with some of this info. I didn’t know what network the Rebel 4 was on, but I do like that the Fiesta 2 handles both GSM and CDMA, and has a slightly larger screen. The poster with the issue getting 2 phones paid despite not seeing the discount in the cart (i.e., when the discount didn’t appear when he added 2 to his cart, instead of walking away, he paid for 1 phone but expected 2 based on the product description). As I posted in that thread a little while ago, they’re offering the B1G1 free again and I just tested it by adding 2 to my cart… the 50% discount was correctly applied.
