Good deal for me as my membership expires in January, but looks like I will have to apply with my wife’s name when I do this offer as it says it is not good for membership renewals.
-
I wonder if the Super Bowl offers are running before 1/31/18, and if I can get the Super Bowl offers if I buy online (as this deal requires).

Ended up getting membership in wife’s name using valpak SAMS coupon, that gives back $20 Giftcard for new membership. So $45-$20=$25 membership for this year. Not bad.

The Am Ex Sam’s Club $25 off a $45 membership offer is good through the end of this month, but before you do this offer, you may want to make sure your local Sam’s Club is not closing (would be a major bummer to buy a membership but have no local store to use it at):

Here’s a list of closures rounded up from local media reports and Sam’s Club employees that contacted Business Insider. The list will be updated as we learn of additional locations.

Signed up on-line for a new membership at the beginning of 2018, never got an email notification thanking me for taking advantage of the offer, to date still haven’t gotten the $25 offer credit posted.
Called regular customer service to inform them that the offer doesn’t appear to be automatically applying. They punted and wanted me to wait 90 days after the offer ends before “disputing” the missing credit. There’s a special team @ Amex that handles missing offers, but not all regular CSR’s know about them.
If your AMEX Sam’s Club (or any other) offer hasn’t posted within a few days of the transaction posting to your AMEX account, reach out to the following team @ AMEX:
Amex Digital Assist Team: 800-297-7500

On another forum, people who don’t have the charge post as SAMSCLUB.COM NEW MEMBERSHIP (note the key words there) are not getting the credit automatically, because it is posting as a regular SAMSCLUB.COM charge (not new membership) even though its for $45.
Some people have escalated and then still gotten denials back, saying Sams Club is coding it incorrectly (which is technically correct). I think a few have gotten escalations and the credit posted, but its still hit and miss. Does the digital assist team know about the issue and fix it without further back and forth?
I ran into the issue myself and opened an escalation via online chat. Said it takes 3-5 days and I have to chat again to find the status of the escalation.

The Digital Assist Team member I spoke w/ was already aware of the issue as he had dealt w/ the same issue previously for another customer (and had completed the escalation process to a supervisor). He acknowledged that Sam’s Club is not coding the transactions properly, which is the root cause of the issue.
So far my credit still hasn’t shown up yet, but the Digital Assist Team member who assisted me advised that it can take up to five business days for the credit to post. I’ll give them more time than that. If the credit doesn’t show up by the end of the month, I’ll call them back.

Out of curiosity (as my local Sam’s is now closed… both in my state, actually) - if I were to extend the membership, can I cancel my membership online and get a refund later? I travel for work and sometimes there’s a Sam’s that I’ll gas up at, etc. But, since I don’t have a Sam’s local anymore, visiting a local Sam’s in person to cancel would be a pain and planning to visit one on my work schedule, to cancel, wouldn’t be possible.
Thx!

Unless the link in the OP is up and still working at that time, it’s doubtful you’ll be able to do it on-line. It may be doable over the phone though (Costco permits that). Suggest you call up Sam’s Club customer service and ask if membership can be cancelled over the phone.

has anyone been affected by sams club closings.
Lost the one here in worcester ma.
Also will you be switching to costco.

Also will you be switching to costco. One of the two remaining Sam’s in my county have closed, but luckily the closer one stayed open. I shop at both Sam’s Club and Costco. I don’t buy a Costco membership because I can get in and purchase without a membership by using my Costco Cash Card (gift card). I have a friend buy me a bunch once a year or two and use those throughout the year.

I purchased a new Sam’s Club membership online using my enrolled Am Ex card but no $25 credit back from Am Ex. I think I know why. It looks like Sam’s Club has some shady coding going on. It looks like just a regular charge for $45 and not a new membership charge, thus it did not trigger the $25 credit. Have of any of you had the same problem? How did you get it rectified? I read on another board even with multiple calls to Am Ex they are refusing to issue the credit. Maybe my only option will be to cancel the membership, but I will give them a chance first to fix their error.
I guess when I cancel the card I will still get to keep the $15 e-gift card I got for signing up and the food freebies I have already redeemed from their new member treasure hunt promotion.

Yes you can cancel the membership anytime before it expires and get a full refund. Just use up the gc and food coupons first.
The only thing that may get affected is your ability to sign up for a discounted membership within a year I believe.

Umm, you upvoted a previous post of mine which offers a solution (worked for me):

Thanks, dangeRuss and The Diggler. I will try to resolve it first by the way TheDiggler suggests and if that doesn’t work then I will take dangeRuss’ 'route.

I just called and the rep wanted me to send her, via e-mail, a copy of the e-mail I received from Sam’s Club when I started my new membership, which was no problem. She said she would call me back within 48 hours to let me know the status.
