Exciting times in Chicagoland.
…and our summer weather has been extraordinarily pleasant.

Maybe we’ll see $.99/doz eggs again.

I highly doubt with the new administration coming in in Washington that any of these mega-mergers are going to make it through but for deal seeker like ourselves that’s good news more competition

@mrvietnam The employees that were likely to be unemployed after this marriage are also thrilled that it’s a no-go. Now K and A can focus on fixing their crappy phone apps.

ttps://www.cnn.com/2024/12/11/business/albertsons-calls-off-merger-sues-kroger/index.htmlegg price jumps have primarily been due to bird flu issues.

What’s wrong with their apps? I haven’t had a problem with either Albertson’s or Ralph’s (Kroger)

@ctujackbauer Clipped coupons sometimes don’t get applied at checkout. Promo headlines can be misleading after reading the microscopic terms. Inventory availability is often inaccurate. I’m sure Ms SOZ could add more annoyances.

If you guys need eggs may I recommend going to Costco? Just a couple days ago I bought 2 dozen eggs for “only” $5.29. Last night I was at Food4Less (a Kroger store) that is known for their lower, more reasonable pricing and ONE dozen eggs was going for $6.49! They also had 5 dozen medium eggs for $31.99. I think I will go back to Costco and stock up on eggs if they are still priced like they were two days ago.
-
@cheapcharlie9 FYI. Eggs freeze well.

I went to Costco yesterday and the 2 dozen egg pack at Costco went up to $5.99 from $5.29 a couple days earlier. Definitely on an upward trajectory, but still much cheaper than supermarket prices.

Since we’re talking about eggs, my Safeway J4U account has a few reward redemption offers for eggs. My offers include: 300 pts for 1 dz eggs, 300 pts for 1 dz organic brown eggs, 300 pts for 18 eggs, 400 pts for 18 organic brown eggs.
Eggs are pretty expensive in my area ($5 a dz and up) so I’ve been using reward points for eggs.
