There’s a Sam’s Club in a nearby city that’s on the store closure list, so I figured I’d try for a 90 day extension. Applied, got the following email:
Dear XXXXXXXXXX,
Thanks for being a valued Sam’s Club member.
Your free 3-month membership extension will be active within 3-5 business days.
You can shop at any Sam’s Club location or online at SamsClub.com, where you’ll find tons more items at exclusive prices. Plus, free shipping on many favorites.
You’ll still be able to cancel your membership and request a refund anytime. Just go to the Member Services Desk at any Sam’s Club or call Member Services at the number below.

We’re happy to help. Feel free to contact a Member Services Representative at 1-888-746-7726.Guess I’ll find out in 3-5 days whether my membership extends by 90 days. If they truly grant it, my gut feeling is that anybody who requests a 90 extension will be approved.

My membership expires in two weeks. I think I will attempt to get a refund (one of the two clubs in my county are closing) and get a new membership (this time in my wife’s name) as it is more lucrative. I will use the $25 off a new $45 Sam’s Club membership from Am Ex and stack it with the $15 free e-gift card with goodies for new members and then do the game for new members in which I can win another $15 in free goodies. )I explained how to do all this in one of my recent threads in hot deals.)

It appears to apply to the extension also.

No, you can always get a full refund before the membership’s expiration date. Just go to customer service.

Yes, but I think the point is you can always get the full refund. It doesn’t have to be one of the stores that’s closing. You may not be able to do it online for all stores, but if you go to your local store, you can do it at CS.
