I just placed an online order for 4 boxes of 180 ct $19.99 Smartsense 13 gallon kitchen trash bags and I redeemed a $5 off $50 digital coupon and used $8.30 in points to pay. It said I will be getting $60.67 in points back. I also ordered through befruga.com, so I will get 3% back on my order, too, which comes to $2. So all together I paid out 78.13 and will get back $60.67, so I paid $17.46 for 4 180 ct kitchen drawstring trashbags, or $4.37 each.

Just placed online for instore pick up order for ziploc type bags.
Total $51.67 paid w/ gc getting back $52.58 in pts
Went through RMN for $5 back wyb $50

Pretty sure no one else here does the tools for gc promo but here’s what I’ll be doing.
Acct has $12 FC wyb $60 at Sears/KM exp. Tues. 6/26.
IF ALL GOES WELL will pick up dot com order later today, points will be available tomorrow, Monday. On Monday use the $52.58 in pts, $12 FC wyb $60 (total then $62.58 available) to buy $99.99 socket set on sale for $29.99 at Sears. Opt to pay full price. Use $62.58 in pts & $35.41 on gc. Receive $77 gc. Receive $5 from RMN for the KM purchase. Net $5.08 + $2xx tax on $35.41.
$7xx for $50 worth of ziplocs & socket set.
Sold 3 socket sets at yard sale yesterday, $20 ea.
Sold another one on the bay today-- $38 w/ FS.

Good job on finding the $5 back wyb $50 through RMN. I’ll have to remember that for next time. I could have got back three more dollars. Is that $5 back wyb $50 offer a one-time use deal or can you use it over and over?

Get $40 CASHBACK in points on a $40 purchase from Action Packaged on Sears Marketplace

Excludes Sold by Sears and Sold by Kmart items. Valid only for items sold by Marketplace sellers. Limit 2 per member. Points awarded 7 days after purchase. Points to expire 14 days after receipt. Points cannot be redeemed on Marketplace items–valid only on Sold by Sears and Kmart items.

  • @my4mainecoons It’s such a weird game on most of these marketplace SYWR points-back deals. The sweet spot, of course, is to buy something right at or just over $40, such that on paper you have that “free” store money to spend at Sears and/or Kmart. Then you look at the prices of their stuff, which have been jacked up 2, 3, or often 4 times what the actual market value is. I saw a number of items priced at $39.99, along with a dearth of low-priced (under $10) to pad your order. Sigh. I scoped out refrigerator water filters, but came up short for the type I need.

I’d invest more time if there was still a nearby Kmart store–you can always get grocery and drugstore type items there, and at reasonable prices too. I’ve already got most everything I want that Sears sells at this point.

I ordered online for instore pick up yesterday. Picked up last night.
Pts are in acct this AM.
I ordered a bunch of ziploc type bags. There were a lot of things I know my store has that didn’t even come up on a search, e.g. water. Any water.
I guess someone heard me mutter because when I used the $10FC from the toys survey out popped a CRT for a free case of water.

Nice to know that the 100% back Smartsense offer up to $50 can be done either online or online with in store pick-up, but can NOT be done in store (I tried).

I received my online order shipped via UPS today. I ordered 4 boxes of 180 ct Smartsense kitchen trash bags. What I got was 3 boxes of Smartsense Fresh Scent 160 ct kitchen trash bags, 1 box of Smartsense Superflex 140 ct kitchen trash bags, and 1 box of Smartsense 100 ct kitchen trash bags. Not one box delivered was what I ordered, but I will keep it as the total number of bags from the 5 boxes delivered equals 720, the same quantity I would have got if my 4 boxes of 180 ct trash bags were delivered. Actually I got the better end of the deal because the fresh scent and superflex varieties are more expensive. The trash bags came in a huge box with no packing material at all, so the boxes were rattling inside the box like popcorn popping. The 5 boxes could have easily fit in a box half the size.

I put 7 of a $19.99 tool in my Sears cart.
    Total $139.93 + $7 tax.

Great find on two fronts, Maine. The $125 back in points plus the $50 in points double dip. What a deal. I am getting the s tame MM that you did. That means thought we will have $176 to spend in just 7 days. Any ideas how to spend it?

It’s probably overlapping with this offer (both offers expire 6/30/18):

@mrvietnam Thanks for finding the other offer.
I’ll be buying 42 pc socket sets and getting $77 Sears gc w/ my pts.

  • 500 Club

The T&C for the $125/$125 offer are confusing. One sentence says pts awarded in 24 hrs and are good for 30 days. Next sentence says they’re awarded the next day and expire in 7 days. Won’t know true expiration until points post. Would be nice if we had 30 days in which to use them.

Can you tell me again how you convert SYW points to Sears gift cards?

  • 500 Club

@mrvietnam Here’s a copy of what I posted when the deal was for a riveter.

OK, so here’s what I do with tool deals. e.g. •Craftsman General Purpose Riveter $5.92 w/ $0.94 SYWR points back (reg. $12.99)
Requires FreeCash/Surprise Points. Last week I had $12 in FreeCash.
I bring riveter to the register (only works on Tools and B&M). Tell the cashier I want to pay full price.
They scan item, get to screen that asks “would customer like an instant gift card?”.
Cashier enters “yes”. Price jumps to $12.99.
I pay $12 in FreeCash, 99¢ with Sears gc.
    Cashier then issues gc for $7.77. $7.77 = $12.99 (regular price) - $5.92 (sale price) + 10%.
I do this A LOT. Have earned hundreds in Sears gc.

Its called the “regular price offer”. Here’s the description from website:
Pay full price & receive a Sears gift card for 10% more than you will save with the sale price. Not valid with discounts or coupons

  • 500 Club

@my4mainecoons This socket set is good for when you have a lot of points to cash out.

    Reg price $99.99 (hah!) sale price $29.99. Difference $70 + 10% = $77.
My acct has $12 wyb $60 Free Cash.
    Transaction #1:
Socket set scans for $29.99. Tell cashier I want to pay full price.
    Price jumps to $99.99.
Apply the $12/$60 FC. Total now $87.99.
Pay with $87.99 in points. Receive $77 gc.
    Balance $87.xx in points.

    Transaction #2:
Socket set scans for $29.99. Add in a bottle of hand soap for $1.
    I have a $15/$100 coupon.
Tell cashier I want to pay full price. New total $100.99
    Apply coupon. New total $85.99.
Pay with points. Receive additional $77 on gift card.

I paid $132 w/ gc and I’m putting $154 back on to the gc.
They can add funds to gc’s so I keep using the same gc until the stripe wears out.

We actually need a new vacuum for the house. It gives me $125 back, but not the extra $50, so I guess no new vacuum (yet).

  • 500 Club

@mrvietnam I guess you could get something else then use the points to buy the vacuum cleaner but I try not to give them any real money. I just keep cycling funds on my gc.
Use pts to buy tools to get pts converted to gc.
Use gc to buy items that give back pts, e.g. $50 at KM, $125 at Sears.
Use pts to buy tools to put the points back on the gc.

I got a Kenmore vacuum cleaner earlier this year when they were giving back pts. It was on sale for $199.99, had pretty good reviews. Went through RMN for additional $ back. Vacuum cleaner. My cleaning lady wanted a canister vac. She’d broken my Dyson ☹ After the dust settled it cost me about $100 on my gc. I bought replacement parts for the Dyson on Amazon but she’s not allowed to use it any more, lol.

  • Global Moderator

I am going to do the $125 back in SYW points over a year’s time on a $125 purchase offer. I want to buy something for $149.99 and I want to use a $20 SYW total purchase coupon to help bring down the price to $130, but the coupon is for $20 off a $150 purchase. I am short one cent in total purchase cost. What do you think is the cheapest thing Sears sells that I can order online with instore pickup?

  • 500 Club

    @mrvietnam I’ve gotten the following:
    carpenter pencil
    micro clamp
Craftsman 4 head screwdriver key chain thing
    bottle of liquid hand soap

It depends what your stores have in stock. My main store only has hand soap but I like pencils and clamps so I order the big item from main store and the pencil from a Hometown store. You can order from as many stores as you like.

OT: I’ve been ordering single carpenter pencils as fillers. Pick them up at Hometown Store (franchise). The first time I did it they thought it was someone from Corporate testing their ability to fill online orders. After I picked it and others up I got the reputation as “the person who orders a pencil.” Fast forward 2 years. When recently in the Hometown store to pick something up there were several other orders for pencils-- from other customers.

With the standard long list of exclusions, maybe it would be helpful to list some things that you can buy: 1) gardening items. 2) toys, 3) clothes, 4) shoes. What else am I missing?

  • 500 Club

@mrvietnam This is the usual list of exclusions. Most of them fall under the category of grocery but since people haven’t understood that grocery includes pet products, paper products, cleaning supplies, laundry care, air care, diapers, baby wipes (anything baby), food storage and garbage bags they got more specific rather than just saying “grocery” was excluded. Pharmacy and HBA are always excluded but they didn’t spell out OTC medicines, bandaids, shampoo, body wash, etc.
School & office supplies have always been excluded as well.

I often get Housewares. Things like Rubbermaid TakeAlongs are housewares vs. the Ziploc equivalent is Food Storage. Wilton brand parchment paper is Housewares vs. Reynolds (?) brand is Paper Products. I’ve started converting from old plastic food storage to glass (see Anchor Hocking) and to Rubbermaid Brilliance. Lawn & garden-- plant supports, fertilizer, weed killer, bird seed & feeders, Black & Decker gardening tools. Automotive: windshield washer fluid, gas can, a few times I’ve gotten Mobil One oil and submitted for the rebate. Tools including paint brushes. Night lights. Wireless doorbell. Command hooks. I could go on & on. Clothing: Hanes underwear. If you really can’t find anything, get storage totes for your stock pile. I used to collect the Hefty totes but they no longer carry Hefty. The Snapware were also great but can’t find those anymore either.

  • @mrvietnam There’s all kind of stuff besides just those categories, e.g. home (kitchen, bedding, rugs, etc), sporting goods/outdoors, and so on. The trick is they’ve pretty much eliminated the consumable stuff you have to buy regardless.

So, unless you’ve got a local Kmart store nearby to burn those 3 installments of $20 in points on those very consumables, e.g. paper goods, grocery items, and various other “gotta buy regardless”, it may not be such a hot deal. Unfortunately my local Kmart shut down last year.

  • Just need a little simplification, I have $10 Off $xx.00 I’m looking at an item that offers $60 back in $20 Increments can I combine the 2? or will using the $10 off void the $60?

  • @my4mainecoons I did not realize you can do it in a store and not to wait 30 days to get your card online. How do you know which items are part of this promo? Online you have no option to pay regular price for some items.

  • 500 Club

@bb6619 You’ll need to have $70 in products to get back the full $60 if you’re going to get $10 off.

  • 500 Club

@al613 I don’t understand your question. The most recent offer we’ve been discussing is at KM dot com. Online only and the $60 back will be issued in 3 $20FC installments every 30 days.

MrV asked for qualifying products. I listed some of the things I’ve purchased that qualify but not all can be ordered online all the time.

  • @my4mainecoons My question was about buying items in Sears for a regular price and receiving a gift card back. TY

  • 500 Club

@al613 In store it only works in the tool dept but its immediate.
IF your store is good about hanging sales tags (mine isn’t) then you’ll see sales tag with red border on the top where it will say eg Save $10. Those are the items that work for the gc offer. Since my store doesn’t keep up with tags I price check everything using the self scanner.

Just back from Kmart. There is another offer for in store purchases: buy $50, get $50 back in points. It has the same exclusions as the online offer and you can do it two times. $25 in points is awarded the next day and the other $25 is awarded 8/12. Points are valid 14 days after they are awarded. Just like the online offer, this offer runs until 7/28.

  • @mrvietnam Dude, that last instore-offer is crazy! I’m so missing my local Kmart store. You have to marvel how Kmart/Sears has opted for a “self liquidation” method over the classic “hire professional liquidators”. That is, up to the point that stores announce a closing date.

Well, I’m riding the gravy train to the end, Sears and Kmart are doing some really good deals both online and in store lately. Even if your Kmart has closed, you can still do the online only deal.

  • 500 Club

@mrvietnam what are you doing with all the points?

  • Global Moderator

    @my4mainecoons

I’m using some of them to buy Thom McAn men’s sandals for the next several years. They are currently half price until the end of the month. I am also buying some shoes for my wife. I think a lot of the shoes are discounted this month.

I think in general Kmart is having a lot of sales this month. I bought a lot of gardening planters for my wife that were 30% off.

I did the in store deal twice and also the online deal twice both times with in store pick up, but I returned the second online order to the store. Now when I try to place another online order for 100% back in points it diesn’t let me get 100% back in points even though I returned one of the orders that I did earn 100% back.

I like the Kmart deals better than Sears because you get all your points within a month or two and it isn’t spread over a year like it is at Sears.

  • @ctgolfer Wow, no installments, but quick points evaporation (7 days)! Ya gotta have a plan ready to burn that store money–and at Sears online only it seems (no Kmart, Lands End, etc.). Another self-liquidation twist!

Btw this could work out ok for folks without a local Sears, but who are SYW rewards members. The $5 extra needed to hit free shipping ($35) could be covered by SYWR points, whether by sweeps/WinIt, “freecash”, etc. Both for initial deal and the points cash-out…

Big print on home page says offer is good through Tuesday.
Fine print says points will post 24 hrs after transaction.
