RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Alliant CU raised the rate on it’s Savings Account today…from 1.95% apy to an even 2.0% apy
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@paazel I have them…their only drawback is extremely low ach limits on their system…However you can Push or Pull from other banks with no limitations…The rate is great and the Online Banking and Customer Service is extremely good…

Nationwide Checking and Savings
Nationwide Bank (which is part of Nationwide Insurance) in recent times has become very competitive in their interest rates and offer maximum benefits if you open both their Member Checking and Online Savings accounts…
1.30% apy on Savings (on all balance levels)
1.15% on Checking (Over $10,000…1.0% for lower balances)They use the excellent (former “Checkfree” Bill Pay now known as Fiserv)
Excellent Free atm coverage (no rebates but they are on both major fee-free networks, Allpoint and Moneypass)…Nice Online Banking interface… First box of checks free (but need to call Customer Service to request after opening and making initial deposit)
If you apply for the combination, no need to order atm card for savings…debit card for checking sent automatically after initial deposit is made…once card is activated…call Customer Service and they will link in Savings to the account…When card is activated, automated system will let you select pin number
Friendly and pretty efficient Customer Service on the phone but only opened Mon thru Friday

RE: Common sense rules of banking - tips & tricks !
Also, there is a little trick you can employ…which is sanctioned by the FDIC and also NCUA to extend the coverage (up to as much as 1,250,000) at the same bank or credit union…
By adding extra beneficiaries…5 to get the maximum…And they can include non profit charities (like aspca, united way, etc)…if your bank/cu allows it…
For example: you could have 2 people beneficiaries in the main savings account…then open up an additional savings or a cd account where you keep a small amount, and stick the non profits in that one…The 5 beneficiaries do not have to be in the same account…There are articles about this online…like this one:

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Discover Savings up from 2.0% to 2.10% Apy as of today!

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Regarding Wealthfront… according to their website, they are planning on keeping their rate competitive…I just opened with them…it’s a rather interesting setup and different then conventional accounts…I like what i am seeing so far…
My favorite features are: you can transfer up to $250,000 per day in or out…Although it’s called a Savings Account, you don’t have the “6 per month limit” The 1 million FDIC Insurance Coverage (because they sweep the money into 4 fdic banks)…and plan on adding debit cards, checks, bill
pay, mobile check deposits in the near future…And the high rate of course…LOLUp to 3 external bank accounts can be linked to it…They are actually a brokerage firm…not a bank…however, they use 4 actual FDIC Banks for this interesting set-up…

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet Glad you mentioned that…i was having the same problem…once i switched to the correct one, was able to log right in…
I was wondering…for the free set of checks do you have to request them or are they ordered automatically?
The email said the debit card was ordered but no mention of the checks…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@craig10x Thanks goldsheet…I got on Chat at 11 PM last night and got someone around 11:30 PM…she ordered the checks for me…you are correct…they are not automatically ordered…

RE: Bank of America Premium Rewards Credit Card – 50,000 Point Bonus, $100 Annual Travel Credit
The points you accumulate will get the bonus points from the platinum honors rewards as you redeem them, so wait until AFTER the 3 months to redeem any points accumulated…that way you will get the full benefit on the points you got before you qualified…
I have Platinum Honors with the BofA Cash Rewards Credit Card…so, that’s how i know…lol,
I waited until AFTER i qualified for Honors before cashing out points, at which point (when i did) i got the 75% boost automatically on them… -
RE: Bank of America Premium Rewards Credit Card – 50,000 Point Bonus, $100 Annual Travel Credit
@craig10x
I’d get the credit card first then open the Merrill Edge and make sure they link up the BofA side to the Merrill Edge side… -

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@jtownsucks46 : Thanks…I previously had an EBSB account and am using my old user id…in my case, i may be considered to be an old customer since the system had me in there from before…will be interesting to see what happens when the first deposit goes in…

Ally Bank Online Savings now at 2.0% APY…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@jtownsucks46
No…but it’s covered by Vanguard’s SIPC (brokerage insurance)…also it is a Money Market Fund so share price is always a stable $1 a share (no fluctuation)…So not only do you have the SIPC coverage but let’s face it, what are the odds of Vanguard going under? (lol)… -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@jtownsucks46
Very Good Point! The only one in their “program group” that i do have funds with is Citibank where i have about $2000 in checking and $50,000 in a CD…However, i will be closing all that out in August when the CD matures…I recently switched my local banking over to Wells Fargo, so i wouldn’t be needing them anymore, anyway…But that is definitely something one does need to be aware of with this type of account…

RE: Pagination Vs. Infinite Scroll
I’m kind of confused about this…not familiar with pagination view…how do i make my view display the page list? Do you mean in settings…i am using the default and it has pagination view checked…but i am not seeing page numbers at the bottom of the thread page…
-
RE: Pagination Vs. Infinite Scroll
Thanks so much…now i get it…
Is it better to have pagination enable or disabled? And if enabled…how many posts per page? -
RE: Windows 10 - free?
I assume you currently running windows 7? Whatever version you use…select the same as your current running…ex: if you are running windows 7 home…select same for 10…if you are running window 7 pro then select that…

RE: Paypal Cashback Mastercard Questions
Here’s a big surprise (a good one)…remember i mentioned that i figured it couldn’t hurt to try for a credit line increase at this time (even though the account is new) since the initial line was granted by a computer of course and this request would actually be evaluated by a real person lol)…I have a very good credit history and an excellent fico score as well…
Just got the e-mail response to my request (I had asked for an increase to $12,000)…
It said: unfortunately although we could not grant your full requested amount, we have increased you limit to: $10,000 which is the maximum amount we can grant at this time…I’ll take it!
Glad i decided to go with the Citicard (instead of the Paypal)…After a few months i might try for $12,000 (or $15,000 tops) after i show a history of doing a lot of purchases and paying the bills on time…

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi
It’s covered by SIPC until is arrives at the participating banks…Once arriving in the participating banks, the FDIC insurance side takes over…Sounds safe enough to me…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi
The program banks are covered by the fdic…therefore you are covered by the fdic…that’s how it works with sweep banks…and the banks they use are large institutions like Citibank, for example…There is such a thing as being over cautious…but up to you…i feel my money is perfectly safe there…People buy Brokered Cds in their Brokerage Accounts all the time, it essentially works the same way…Only in this case the cash is going into savings accounts instead of cds…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
No sign up bonus…only opened the Cash Account not their Brokerage Account (Investment side)…
Heck…2.51% apy and 1 million fdic coverage…what more could you ask for? (lol)
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@frugalpete
That is true…But again, a Money Market Fund at a brokerage is $1 a share…no deviation…so share price does not fluctuate… -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@frugalpete
Very true…that was a rarity (that fund that went under $1 a share) and keep in mind…this is VANGUARD we are talking about here…they wouldn’t let it happen…it would destroy their reputation (same applies to the other majors like Fidelity TD Ameritrade Schwab TRowePrice etc… -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi: pretty safe, i would think…they have been around since 1934 and back in the 80s when there was all that banking trouble and when a dozen or so banks failed in the Boston area, they were covered by DIF for the difference between the FDIC amount and anything they had over…Of course, the FDIC covered the up to $250,000 part…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
I recently opened the EBSB Direct Savings Account…does anyone know: 1) If a deposit posts right away when you set up an incoming transfer using their system? 2) Any hold placed on funds? if so, how long? (when you transfer in using their system)…

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi
The Money Market Account was always 1.80%What is gone is offering of the High Yield Savings Account with 2.50% apy…
That was short…it only came out a MONTH ago (LOL) -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi
Yes, that is true…because i have it too and nothing changed for those who already have it but apparently they are not offering for new accounts at this point…Maybe they are getting another new product ready for release…LOL Or (as the sometimes do) not offer anything new for a while…Probably when they have gotten sufficient funds for the moment…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@atikovi
Yes…that’s their usual M.O. (method of operation) -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts

@jtownsucks46 said in Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts:
Mutual One Online Savings up to 1.71%
Capped at $250,000 over that amount, the rate is 0.25% which is a shame because they have unlimited deposit insurance coverage (fdic plus private insurance) only available to mass. banks like they are…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Amex Personal Savings up to 1.60% APY (was 1.55%)

RE: Bank of America Premium Rewards Credit Card – 50,000 Point Bonus, $100 Annual Travel Credit
Unless this card is set up totally different than the standard card i can tell you for a fact that you don’t get the bonus honors points until the points are redeemed…that is exactly how it worked for me with the standard cash rewards card and i DID get the 75% points booster on all the points i had prior to qualifying for the honors rewards program! I even got it on the bonus points i received for OPENING the credit card account…If i were you, i’d call them to be sure…

RE: Questions About HSBC Credit Cards
@kohlspowrshopper Thank you so much for your thoughtful and very extensive reply!
Considering that when i open a new credit card, they generally start me in the $7000 to $8000 range (sometimes higher) it was rather insulting to get such a tiny limit (like as if i was just starting out with credit)…Even Citibank, which is not known for starting you out with high limits recently gave me $5000 to start and when i applied for an increase right after getting the card to $12000 they gave me a $10,000 line and said to wait 6 months and then i could ask for more…
However, based on what you reported, it doesn’t sound like HSBC would be as accommodating…
I was really going to just use it as a back up card to my Citi Double Cash, but did want a decent line on it…I also have an Ally Bank Cashback Card with a $7500 line…i figure if HSBC would give me a decent line, i’d close that…looks like it will probably be the reverse (close HSBC and keep the Ally card as the back up)…
I will try calling them after the card is activated (just called them and they said i’d need to have the card and activate it first before checking about an increase) but i am not optimistic at this point…

RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
The one problem with T-Mobile Money is that you can’t add beneficiaries…
You can with Marcus… -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet Thanks for that link…i found them on the google playstore but based on the many reviews they don’t sound like a very reliable service…i would hate to depend on them for a monthly direct deposit to keep the SoFi 1.25% apy going… thanks anyway…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet Astra appears to be for people who have businesses…they don’t have accounts for consumers…so not useful for most of us here…
I signed up and they wanted my business app, url to my website, etc…can’t fake that…
A waste of time…unfortunately… -
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet I am actually transferring my social security dd to SoFi but meanwhile i did set up the Astra app on my phone like you… to try it for this month…
Two questions for you: From the day you initiate the transfer from another bank to SoFi…how many days to get there?
When it posts at SoFi what does it say? Does it post as Direct Deposit?
Thanks
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
Thanks…sounds like without an interruption (ex: holiday, weekends) then it is 3 days from when you set it up…not too bad…
And i see it does say Direct Deposit…Did it work for you this month (June) as well?
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet Very good…let me know…i have a friend who has SoFi but doesn’t have a direct deposit to move there and he was curious to know if it is consistent…
-
RE: Best Nationally Available High APY Liquid Accounts
@goldsheet Thanks for confirming…the Astra transfers i did to SoFi showed in the exact same way…so SoFi must have caught it and it will no longer work…
