Why am I receiving the Reward as two $5 Rewards instead of one $10 Reward? Is this SOP? I got two $5 rewards but can’t tell if they’re for the bed or for the Canidae. Looks like another call tomorrow. Sigh.

Thanks. Last year we paid $296 because my husband was 61 and had received health insurance under the ACA. (I’m a bit older and was already on Medicare by then). The premium tax credit under the ACA that went to the insurance company was greater than his actual premium we paid (around $259 per month, if I remember right), so we received a credit of $262 for the excess. Without that, we would have owed $558 in tax last year. We live frugally, own our modest home and 7 rural acres with no mortgage, own our old car and truck outright, have one CC with locked-in (unless the Libor changes) 3.75% interest that we’re paying down, neither of us are spendthrifts and we bargainhunt like crazy, and we save up to pay cash for everything as much as possible. I’m sad for all the people who won’t be as lucky when they fill out their tax return next year.

Sigh, no joy for me or my husband. But I just reactivated both our accounts because of the new good changes and am now actively searching for coke codes again. I hated the previous change when you had to jump through hoops on all kinds of media. Now it’s been simplified again, and I like it.

Probably targeted as I’m Amazon Prime, and we use Amazon Prime for most of our TV viewing, along with an outside antenna for watching the local PBS station.

Is there a site you can do the comparison - enter last year’s tax return figures and this year’s tax return figures based on the new tax bill boondoggle? I’m not sure we’ll be affected as we’re both retired and on SS with Medicare, prescription insurance and supplemental insurance plans, income of about $28,800/year, standard deductions. However, I know a lot of working people who itemize and who will be negatively affected by this, either now or in a few years when the small breaks given to ordinary taxpayers will expire.

Thanks for the feedback. I carry blankets in the car too. I’ve seen the heated back rest on Amazon but wasn’t tempted. A heated blanket I could put over my legs until the car warms up enough would be nice, but I think I’ll skip this one.

LOL, I’ve heard that Maine Coon Cats get pretty large. Beautiful cat. The bed we ordered was delivered today, and so was the Canidae cat food. Checked my account on Petco, and no $10 reward for either one although there’s an increase in points earned. How long does it take after delivery for the rewards to be credited?

The heated blanket sounds tempting. Does anyone have one and can report on how well it works and how much of a drain on the vehicle battery it is?

Finally got through to CS (very busy today apparently) as I had not received the $10 RR for the purchase of Whole Hearted Grain free cat food on Dec. 4 as an online order. The CS tried to say there was a $30 minimum purchase to get the $10 RR, but I knew that was not true. She ended up doing a credit back to my CC for $10. I purchased a dog bed in-store that should have triggered a $10 RR but didn’t, but I’ve purchased another dog bed just like it online yesterday and hopefully that will trigger the $10 RR since I know for sure I activated the offer, and it’s one per customer. The CS said they’re near the coastline with a monsoon coming in, everyone evacuated to shelters or staying safe inside the offices, so I’m sure that’s probably responsible for at least some of the delay with phone calls to the CS department.

Unfortunately it appears Sears is not participating in National Free Shipping Day as I just tried to place a small order and backed out as they were going to charge shipping. Looks like a trip to the local store instead since it’s still open until the end of January. Looks like the annual membership with the 90-day trial for free shipping is only for orders over $25?

The $5 FREECASH is from playing the special game on SYW. They’ve been alternating between KMart and Sears every week now. The problem I have is both our Sears and our Kmart are closing by the end of next month, so the only in-store pickup options are stores that are 37 and 45 miles away. The free shipping is for orders $25 or more, and all I want to do is use my $5 Freecash plus a few SYW points. Pfffffft.

Will this work automatically when I buy it in-store, or do I have to go on the Petco website and activate the offer to my card? I found a section on Petco once where I could activate various offers, but I’ve searched the site thoroughly several times since and can’t find that section again.

Thanks, OP. Ordering one now as reviews look good. We’re rural, so there’s plenty of space to put this up. I prefer to hang most of our clothes outside after washing whenever possible for the fresh odor, less wear and tear on clothes, and a nice chunk of savings on the electric bill.

I’m lucky, I guess, that I didn’t get “upgraded” and am still just Premier with 5% monthly purchases as long as the 5% amounts to $5 or more in a particular month. My account is still in the name of my former business. Now I’m an Independent Contractor, using a lot of toner and paper, so the account is still for both business and personal purchases. I make sure I spend at least 1K a year in order to qualify for the 20 cartridges a month, mostly by getting the paper and doing the rebates. I then trade it to my dentist for credit on my bill. Thanks for the heads-up as I’ll have to keep an eye on my account to make sure they don’t sneakily “upgrade” it.

Luckily I belong to the Quad Readers Club and get 20 Forever stamps every other month for reporting on catalogs and other mailers I receive most days. I believe they are not accepting applications for new members at this point, though. I use online payment most of the time, but there are a few things I prefer to pay with a check by mail. And the stamps are also used to send out birthday, Christmas, holiday, retirement, just because cards throughout the year.

It stinks that they are limiting to only mobile phones since neither my husband nor I have a smartphone that will accept texts. I do have a Kindle Fire Tablet - do you think that would count? Or does it sound like you’ll have to accept a text?

I like the ones already shelled, but for putting out at holiday time, the unshelled ones are better as people don’t just grab a handful and gulp them down, instead they have to slow down and do a little work to open the shell first.

My Kroger took it. I had signed up and gotten it in an email, so I printed the email and took it with me to prove it was legitimate, but the cashier just glanced at the email and said they’d had some already and knew they were legit.
