Trying to upload photo (about the 15th try, server is having issues, but thanks for the instructions @my4mainecoons - I was on my phone before and the upload icon is scrolled off the screen there so I didn’t see it.)

Note that the ground coffee rang up at $3.75, not $3.25 like the tag says in the photo. Not complaining. -

@c3
I just signed up for FreshPass this morning. It took a few hours, but Rakuten is showing $10 as “pending” for me. If it’s still not there for you, I suggest reporting it as missing cash back (through Help). I’ve had a few incidences of missing cash back in the past week. For those, the system has automatically given me the credit after I requested the missing cash back. Worst case you have to talk to customer service, but in general they pay out even if the system doesn’t catch it originally. -

Refrigerated coffee (iced, cold brew, espresso, etc) in 30-32 oz bottles was on sale last week so I chipped in a couple bucks and got that. No added sugar if you get the unflavored versions.

FYI shipping is free no min with this even if you don’t have a target close by. Not sure if that helps you.
In my experience, I haven’t been able to get free shipping no minimum, I still get the $35 minimum requirement. But the monthly freebies are good. I probably wouldn’t pay for this, but I got it for free when I replaced my cellphone on a clearance deal last spring. On the other hand, if they give out $5 or $10 a month, depending on the yearly fee actually paid, it would probably pay for itself and be a MM at some point.

Thank you! I rescued the email out of my trash to check if I had the $10.

My recent Safeway receipt has the $5/$5 as “Additional Discounts” before the tax, and the balance line says $0. I probably wouldn’t risk it.
I forgot about this yesterday and spent $5.30 or so at a supermarket. Would have added something else, but I guess I have time before it expires.

I had to go to the Missing Cashback screen on the Help page and submit my confirmation email details. It was theoretically approved and is currently Pending. This happens to me much more often with Rakuten than it used to, I just try and watch to make sure the cashback is registered and I request it if not. As far as I can recall, I haven’t had anything rejected when I make the manual request.

Interesting. I tried that, with both a Visa and MC from Staples, and both were rejected, saying it only takes credit or debit cards (despite these being supposedly debit cards). Had to use a regular credit card. I’ll just have to make sure I cancel in time next year.

The stores near me always have some flower bouquets for $5, so last year I was getting those once a month (they can last a few weeks). So just for that this is worth it for me, even if I don’t get any other benefit. I was hoping the Amex offer would work on this to make it better, but unfortunately it’s on the full price.

RE: Is digital better than POTS?posted in Technology
I held on to my POTS phone line for a long time, mainly because I didn’t like the idea of having no phone during a power outage. I’ve had rare occasions when the power was out for days at a time, so cellphones would also go out in that situation. They charged me an arm and a leg to keep that going, and when I moved, I finally gave in since I was able to get much better internet service and the phone for a pretty small add-on fee. I don’t love that it will go out when there’s no power, but I put it on a UPS battery backup (along with my internet, so that shouldn’t go out immediately either). I really don’t know how long that will last in an outage, although I supposed there are ways to figure that out.

RE: Free/Cheap Mothers Day Hallmark Cards at WALGREENS B&M with various digital Q's.posted in Expired Deals
Went to Walgreen’s today to find a couple Mother’s Day cards and got severe sticker shock. The cards were all around $6 each!! There was one section of cards for $2.50 but that did not have any Mother’s Day cards.
I’ve been buying my cards at Dollar Tree, where they haven’t even inflated the prices to $1.25, they are still $1 each (or 2/$1 from the cheap section). I gave up on Walgreen’s and went to Dollar Tree, where I found two very nice cards.
Did anyone have better luck than I did at Walgreen’s?

RE: Staples rewards changing in February, 2024-Changes unknown.posted in Deal Discussion
@dangeruss
I don’t understand what they are doing at all, either. I posted earlier in this thread that the amount of ink recycling they were offering me changed from the original 10 for 100 points each to 15 for 400 points. And now they are offering me 30 for 400. I am not in the recycling game in general (maybe their motivation?) and only recycled some this month because I happened to run out of toner recently, and someone passed a few more on to me. I don’t have Plus. I used to shop at Staples a lot more, mostly clearance deals when they were real deals in the old days (luckily I didn’t give away all my free cases of paper and kept a few), but only shop occasionally now, mostly when I can stack coupons and tech recycling rewards to buy things like paper towels and toilet paper.It would definitely be better if they were clear about the program and not offering so many different permutations to different people.
-
RE: Staples rewards changing in February, 2024-Changes unknown.posted in Deal Discussion
I recycled alkaline batteries a few hours ago and got the 1000 points already.

The people in the store, this time and last week when I recycled ink/toner, insisted that the tech recycling program never ended and will keep going (regardless of my telling them that it was clearly no longer on the website last week). So hopefully despite their apparent misinformation regarding what is being told to customers, it will continue beyond 4/20.

@my4mainecoons said in BEWARE of Rakuten cashback. I had one of their Big Fat quarterly cashback checks returned today for insufficient funds. Luckily I only lost $5:
I’ve never used Rakuten because for some reason I associate them with the loss of FW. Now I can’t even recall where that idea came from.
According to my recollection, Rakuten/Ebates bought FW and then shut it down. (Or maybe you were being sarcastic?)
I hesitated to continue to use ebates (now Rakuten) after that but I’m a long-time user, I’ve had good experiences with them in general, and didn’t feel like starting over somewhere else, even for more cash back. I get my checks via Paypal and (so far) have not had any issues. I do find I have to watch the cash back that is credited more closely than before, and have to request the credit via the help screens. They usually credit it after that, and often right away.

Uggh, I had a rewards certificate I forgot to print, and now that is gone from my rewards. Also a Plus member, and I am at 400 pts per 20 carts per month.
This is a mess. They sent me an email yesterday saying that my rewards number is being used by another account and that I should sign up again. The website showed no activity. Today I checked in the connect app to see if my tech recycling reward was still there. After going through a few changeover screens and clicking around a lot, I finally found my reward.
If I recall, when they forced us to the connect app, I had to sign up again. My guess is that that created a second account.
I don’t recycle ink, but I wonder if you all have a similar situation. Maybe your second account gets the better recycle deal and has your old statuses. Just a thought.
Did you sign up again? I was worried about doing so because it might assign a new rewards number.
I didn’t sign up again like the email they sent me suggested (same text posted above), but I wondered afterwards if going through the new screens on the Connect app might have done something.
I think I’ll need to try and contact support to see if they can merge my accounts, if that’s what the problem is.
