In previous versions of the Kohl’s reward program, a return would take back from the rewards balance. In the past I had months with a negative balance due to this. I guess they decided not to do that in the current version.

RE: Kohl's Cash Gotcha
@waldo1945
Out of curiosity, which purchase did you return first? I’ve also been burned by this in the past. In this situation I return the purchase that used the Kohl’s Cash first, and do it in a completely separate transaction than the second return. I think that would give you the full amount you paid back and restore the KC. Then the return of the original purchase would void the KC and give you back the full amount you paid for that purchase. Then again, they may have changed the system, and I am definitely not an expert. -

@ctgolfer How do you buy the bonds? Only through treasurydirect? How old do you need to be to be able to buy the bonds?
This may not be the answer to what you were asking, but you can buy these as a gift for a minor and I believe it would count against their limit.

RE: Kohl's Deals Discussion Thread: Kohl's Cash, Rewards, Promo & Mystery Codes, FAQ's
@my4mainecoons
I saw some posts on SD where people were missing their KC similar to you, so it looks like there’s a problem. I checked my wallet and it’s the same as the email I received, so it’s not everyone. Good luck with getting it resolved. -
RE: JUST4U chains: Saturday Sample free bag of Signature Select Frozen French Fries (various types) conf'd at Vons/Albts/ACME, clip by 11/28, use by 11/29
@kimi
Thanks, that was helpful. I found the Events category on the website. The fries are there under Saturday Sampler for me, and I also saw that I have a free case of water, only available in a new store that opened close to me. I got a mailer last week that said new accounts only, but now I see it in my existing account, so thank you. -

No Saturday Sampler for me at Safeway. In fact, I have no freebies on my account. (Even the hand sanitizer offers have expired and haven’t been renewed.)
I found the free fries in my Safeway app under Deals > Categories > Frozen Foods. I always have a hard time finding the freebies in the app, but it helps to know what to look for. Where does everyone else find them?

RE: JUST4U Saturday Samper Free 64 Oat Silk Milk and Free O Organics Bagged Popcorn (Acme) clip by 10/17 use by 10-18
Heads up, I have a $1.50 ibotta on the silk oat milk. YMMV.
Unfortunately my Safeway was out of both that and the popcorn. I’ve found that to be the case more often than not.
The trip was not for nothing though, I also had a $5 off $5 on my card that I used. -

Hey, thanks for mentioning this. I think this explains the mystery package I got from P&G last week (via archway). I scored a Team USA backpack and some Tide pods and Crest samples (no water bottle though). Thanks for posting the original deal too!

With this change, it makes getting the Am Ex Blue Cash Preferred Card (6% cashback on grocery purchases with a $95 annual fee) kind of a waste of money (due to the annual fee) unless your household buys an awful lot of groceries.
In the past I’ve downgraded from the Blue Cash Preferred card to the free version, which gives 3% on groceries. Then, after a year or so, they’ve offered me a free one-year upgrade to the Preferred card (plus bonus of $100 or more). I’ve done that and then downgraded again after the free period. I’m on at least my second round now. Just FYI.

@ukedog said in T-Mobile database breach affecting 100 million customers (Social Security, Driver's License, IMEI numbers, etc.):
@ctujackbauer Has anyone here (or even anyone known to anyone here) been contacted by T-Mobile regarding this breach?
I’ve read recently that T-Mobile has been reaching out to those affected…I am not the account owner, but I believe the owner of the account my T-mobile line is on got a text about the data breach from T-mobile. If I recall, it didn’t say very much and didn’t tell them how to protect themselves and what T-mobile was going to do (McAfee coverage?).
I haven’t heard anything from T-mobile directly, but I assume I have been affected as well. So far I am not impressed at all at how they are handling this. Although I just opened the T-mobile app and now there is a banner there about the breach, linked to a page with more information and links, to McAfee coverage and how to add Takeover Protection Service to each line.
I had read an article last week that told how to turn on the protection service and did that already for all the lines on our account. I’m thinking about freezing my credit reports as well.

403 Forbidden error
I’ve been getting a 403 Forbidden error from my cellphone (T-Mobile) today. Only once I got on my desktop computer was I able to confirm that it’s just my phone and not the site in general. I tried in two browsers on my phone, going from a link in a post-comment alert and also straight to the home page.
Thank you.

RE: PRIME ONLY - Amazon is offering a $10 Amazon Promotional Credit w/ Purchase of a $40 Amazon Gift Card
The promo code may be already applied and then you would get an error message. Checking out in a desktop browser will show whether the coupon is actually applied, if you aren’t doing that now.

Same here, my store was out too (but Sunday noon-ish). Also had tried to get Chobani cold brew at Shoprite on Thursday, but no luck there either. It’s a bit frustrating that Chobani has so many deals but so little stock.
I did get the lip balm, at least.

I think I read elsewhere that these are mainly (only?) on Hilton and Delta cards, and still YMMV. I got $10 on Delta gold and $5 on my free Hilton card. Someone else I know with both card types got neither.
I didn’t get anything on my blue cash. -
RE: ***VERY IMPORTANT*** PLEASE READ ABOUT NEW Q.COM LINK; Exp. Unknown
@dangeruss
No, no ad blocker, unless Edge has one built in. This is the new version of Edge. It had imported all my Chrome extensions when I started using it, and I just double-checked to make sure there were no ad blockers there.
In both Chrome and Edge the bottom Coupons link opens successfully but the coupons still don’t load in Edge, it’s just blank where Chrome gives a loading bar and then shows the coupons. -
RE: ***VERY IMPORTANT*** PLEASE READ ABOUT NEW Q.COM LINK; Exp. Unknown
The “Coupons” link in the footer isn’t working for me using the Edge browser. It shows the phatwallet header and footer with blank space in between. It works in Chrome for me though.

RE: Amazon Prime "No-Rush Shipping" offers...disappearing?
I also noticed, but assumed it was due to all the shipping delays in general. If they are not currently guaranteeing 2 day shipping, they have no reason to give us incentive to receive the item later. I’m hoping the no-rush credits will be back at some point.

Definitely bad news, I took advantage of that a lot. How about the workaround of ordering from a store parking lot (or inside the store)? Anyone know if that’s working these days?
To answer my own question, in case anyone else is wondering: It looks like you can still order from a store parking lot, in case you don’t want to go in (or as in my case one time, if the store is closed - especially with shorter hours now). I was at a store yesterday and did a test before I went in. The app showed that I was at a store and offered me free shipping, although I didn’t complete the purchase.

Does it have to be a new email address/account every year, or can I alternate between two existing accounts? I’m planning on creating a second account for the next year, but I’d rather not do that indefinitely.
The discounted deal is for new customers only, so you would need a new e-mail address and use a new credit card each time you do this deal. I also put a different family member’s name on the new account, just in case one day they ask why I have 5 different Hulu accounts.
Thanks. It’s good to be prepared ahead of time. I was hoping it was like Sam’s Club where it just had to be inactive for a certain amount of time. Oh well.
To be honest with you, I don’t know How Hulu defines a new customer. You might try on an account you haven’t used for some time. It may very well work and you will have nothing to lose for trying.
Since this was my first year, I’m going to have to make a new account anyway in November. Last BF I activated the deal on my old Hulu account from when everything was free, and I’d never had a paid plan there. So you’re right, it’s worth a try after another year to at least attempt to reactivate my current account. Nothing to lose, as you said. Thanks!

Also, during the Black Friday weekend, Hulu has some great deals on their standard service. Two years ago I got Hulu for 99 cents a month for a year. This past Black Friday they increased it by a dollar and the new annual deal was $1.99 a month for a year. Who knows what the price will be this Black Friday. They don’t make you pay in advance for a year, but they just guarantee that price when you pay month-to-month. The deal is only for new customers, so every Black Friday I make a new account with a different e-mail and credit card.
I did the $1.99 Hulu deal for the first time this year. After the first month I added a gift card I got at a discount, so that helped. (I hadn’t been planning on getting it at all or I would have been better off with the gift card from the start.) I want to do the same thing this year. Does it have to be a new email address/account every year, or can I alternate between two existing accounts? I’m planning on creating a second account for the next year, but I’d rather not do that indefinitely.
I also have a Fire Recast for antenna DVR, which I’ve been happy with after the initial adjustment, ever since Microsoft killed Windows Media Center last year, which I’d been running for a very long time before then. Plus Amazon Prime. Between all those I have way more things to watch than I have time.
I have a terrible internet connection - no FIOS available in my area - so any suggestions of good internet at a reasonable price would be helpful.

I just chatted with Amazon customer service and he asked me how I found out about the promotion. I said in an e-mail from Cheez-Its (not really, but I had to say something) and then he asked me to send him the e-mail. He said, "I’m really sorry any promotional from Amazon to you will be notified to you by the Email from us " He is leaving the chat window open for 24 hours for me to send him the e-mail from Cheez-Its. Is this promo advertised anywhere besides deal boards?
I have the Kellogg’s email if it will help you. It’s personalized (has my name in it) but if there’s a way to get it to you I could do that.

RE: Solved: How do I get pictures off of an Amazon Fire?
Regarding the memory card option for transferring, I don’t know what Fire device you have, but my 3 year old Fire 10 only has 32GB internal memory, so if you have something similar there couldn’t be more than that to transfer at one time. If you want to keep moving things off onto the card to free up internal space on the Fire without transferring to a computer, then a larger card would help with that.

RE: Solved: How do I get pictures off of an Amazon Fire?
@my4mainecoons said in How do I get pictures off of an Amazon Fire?:
@hbg1 I think I might know which was the cable that came with the Fire. I had no idea that there was a difference in cables until @fivetalents told me. I knew I had to be missing something, that I should be able to just plug the Fire into my laptop. When I tried with cheap cable I could see the Fire in my drives but wasn’t able to open it. First I’m going to try the cable I think came with the Fire. If that doesn’t work I’m going to try the cable that came with cell phone.
If that doesn’t work you could also try plugging it into a different computer if you have one accessible. If you can download the files to the other computer, then you can transfer the files with a flash drive to wherever you want.
-
RE: Solved: How do I get pictures off of an Amazon Fire?
You really should be able to transfer directly to your computer without having to buy a card, although as mentioned the cards are handy. I just took the usb cable from my cellphone charger to test it, and plugged my Fire 10 into my computer. It loaded and then the Fire appeared in with my drives in Explorer (Windows 10). I double-clicked on the Fire icon and then it showed me the internal drive and my external microSD card. I could see the contents of the internal drive when I clicked that.
Also, my Fire 10 came with its own charger/usb cable, so you may have that around as well. -
RE: Free Smirnoff Malt Beverage with $15 of any Groceries
I’ve never done these - for this one, in my state you can’t buy liquor at grocery stores, but we’re not on the list of NBPR. It sounds from the text that you have to buy the smirnoff and groceries in one transaction, though. Any guidance on how this works?

RE: COVID19 effect: Best way to take a salary reduction?
Not related to your question really but: My understanding is that if you are maxing out your 401k early, then you were possibly missing out on some of the employer match. At least in my workplace, they only match when you are contributing, so it’s recommended to space it out through the entire year (unless there are other factors that would affect it, like you were not planning on working the entire year).
Since they are no longer going to be matching, I guess it’s not as relevant, and as long as you get the maximum match before they stop, that’s all you can do. -

The birthday coupons are still around - I got one a few months ago as usual. But I saw yesterday in the updated terms that they made a change there and maybe also to the regular reward expiration:
Birthday Free beverage Reward Coupons expire 7 days from the time they are issued. Other Free beverage coupons expires 30 days after date of issuance.It was nice that we were able to use them when it was convenient. But even with this change the birthday reward is better than at Starbucks. There I believe they only give you one day to use it.

Brandon was right that you have 6 days to redeem the code, but you have to click the link to save the deal by by August 29, 2018 at 4:59 a.m. ET (basically tonight until 5am ET). You don’t need the app, you will see the same deals if you log in on the website (t-mobiletuesdays.com). -

Up until now you could still load offers to multiple cards even if you didn’t have separate accounts set up, if you had tabs open to the offers on the different cards. That method didn’t work for me today either.
I’ve read elsewhere that people think it’s the new offers that are different, and @mrvietnam’s T&C description supports that.
I might need to set up separate accounts now, if it looks like they will allow it from the offers point of view. -
