In case any of you were wondering how low they will go pricewise for the closing stores. My local Sears is now selling pretty much everything in the store at 90 percent off for one day only (the last day of the liquidation sale). The store will permanently close at end of business tonight.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
UPDATE 12/28/18:
Department store chain Sears won a reprieve from liquidating Friday after its chairman, Eddie Lampert, submitted a bid in an effort to buy the retailer and keep it alive, people familiar with the situation tell CNBC.
Lampert’s hedge fund ESL Investments put forward his tentative proposal for Sears earlier this month with his formal submission due today.
A bid could help divert liquidation, but may not necessarily. Sears’ advisors have until Jan. 4 to decide whether ESL is a “qualified bidder.” Only then, could ESL take part in an auction against liquidation bids on Jan. 14. They will weigh the value of Lampert’s bid against offers to liquidate the company.
The terms or structure of Lampert’s bid could not immediately be determined. If it is similar to the $4.6 billion proposal Lampert outlined earlier this month, it is likely to face push-back from the company’s unsecured creditors. As part of the initial bid, which regulators required Lampert to make public, financing would in part stem from $1.8 billion in debt that Lampert would forgive through a so-called “credit bid.”
Unesecured creditors said earlier this month they will object to a credit bid. Those creditors believe there may be claims against Sears for transactions under Lampert’s leadership. Those deals include Sears’ spinoff of Lands’ End and transactions with Seritage Growth Properties, a real estate investment trust Lampert created through select Sears’ properties.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
I got an email yesterday from SYW offering me $10 Freecash for signing up for a personal shopper. I clicked on the link in the email and signed up for a personal shopper. I did not get the Freecash as promised, so I emailed SYW and they said my personal shopper would award the Freecash. I chatted with my personal shopper through the phone app and mentioned the reply I got from SYW customer service and about an hour later I got $10 in SYW points added to my account which expire in two weeks.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
I was shopping at a closing Sears store two days ago and on my receipt printed a $15 off $15 coupon to be used at Sears.com. Today I was using my $10 in free points I got for adding a personal shopper to my account and on the receipt printed a $5 off $5 coupon for Kmart, good for only 3 days.

@mrvietnam So can you use still use your points at that closing Sears store?
I figure once the professional liquidators take over (screaming yellow % off signs), it will be cash or charge only. Basically the end of any real deals, too. My local Sears is scheduled to close sometime in March, but hasn’t entered that final phase yet.
Uping the free shipping threshold from $35 to $59 puts a crimp in the online thing, plus as briarycliff noted points won’t even count towards that starting in February. I suspect that stings anybody that went for the $400 points back over 12mo deal, etc
No. At closing stores it it is cash or charge only.
During Sears store closings, how much off do they go to at the end? I was in a few days ago and they were at 75% off. This Sunday is the last day it is open, so I think I will go today or tomorrow and see if they went to 80 or 90% or if 75% is the most they give off . Anyone know how much is the most percent off they will go to? I wonder what they do with all the stuff they didn’t sell? I guess it belongs to the liquidators at that point. During a liquidation sale is it Sears employees or does the liquidator hire their own sales staff?

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
I was at Kmart this morning and I wanted to use the 10% off coupon that expires today. The cashier wouldn’t let me and said there is a new 15% coupon, but I didn’t want to use it because the 15% off coupon excludes seasonal items. So I ended up having to pay 10% more because they wouldn’t let me use a coupon that was still valid today. They said Kmart pulled the coupon a day early.

I placed a $25 online order at Kmart yesterday and one day later I still have not received the email that my order was ready for pick up, so I called the store. They said they were backed up due to the holiday season and it would take about THREE days before my order would be ready for pick up! That’s no big deal, but does the 7 day validity of points begin after I placed my order or after it is picked up?
-

Good. So I will still get my full 7 days to spend the points. I bet the stores get flooded with online orders when they have these 100% back deals.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
YMMV, but look for an email from SYW offering you $10 in SYW points (valid for 30 days) if you sign up for a free credit monitoring service through Lending Tree. I signed up and got my $10 in points instantly. Offer ends 12/10/18. Says it is for select members only. I had all my credit reports frozen, but it still let me sign up. I guess because this is just a credit monitoring service and doesn’t affect your credit at all.
Earn $10 CASHBACK in points when you sign up for Credit Confidence from 12/3/18-12/10/18. Available to selected members only. Promotion is non-transferrable. By accepting Shop Your Way® member benefits and offers, you agree to the Shop Your Way terms and conditions, available at www.shopyourway.com/terms. RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
I figured out what the extra points beyond the 100% $25 I got back were from:
Bonus points - MAX Members get 5% CASHBACK in points with your FREE Kmart store pickup on ONLINE purchases. Points awarded the next day and valid for 90 days. Limit 50,000 points per member. (From your transaction on Dec 01, 2018)
I was finally able to pick up my order two days after it was placed online. The store said they were swamped the last couple days with - count them - 180 online orders. After I picked up a toy order at Kmart that I spend $16.99 (or 15.29 after 10% off online coupon), I went to Target and saw the same toy for $12.99! I would feel burned if it wasn’t for the fact I got 100% back in points. I guess that makes up for some price gouging on Kmart’s part.

Both the $25 KM and $30 Sears offers are “up to” deals so no fillers needed.
Nice that the $25/$25 and $30/$30 points don’t expire until 12/25. They’ll overlap with the 3rd installment of the October deals. Those points are due to post on 12/18.
Actually it depends on the $25/$25 deal you are talking about. The Kmart $25/$25 deal expires 7 days after points are awarded. I take it you are referring to the Sears’ deal.

Get this. Yesterday I did the buy $50 at Kmart, get $50 back in points deal. But before I did the $50 transaction, I did about a $6 transaction and paid with points after using a $1 manufacturer coupon. What happened is the system treated the $1 manufacturer’s coupon as cash and have me back $1 in bonus points and then a little later when I bought my $50 worth of stuff I only got the standard penny in points for each dollar spent. I bought mostly Smartsense stuff and it had advertised at the store buy $10 or more of Smartsense, get 25% back in points, but I didn’t even get that offer eitherLooks like a call to SYW customer service is in order.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
Yes, this offer was variable, up to $50 and you only had one transaction to earn it. They did condition us in the past for fixed amounts. I feel like one of Pavlov’s dogs. (j/k)

My $50 in points are now showing as pending in my account history. Actually I lucked out I got nearly $52 in points for some reason. I was worried because the $1 coupon 100% back showed up right away, but the other 100% transaction took 24 hours to show up. Now I can take the stuff out of the car. Don’t need to return it anymore.

I think the “cannot be combined” means that if you buy $250 item you’ll get the $250 back as $25/wk but you will not get additional $25 back for Cyber Monday.
Note that this offer is up to meaning I don’t need a filler for my $24.99 item.
Also, do not make a $2 purchase prior to making $25 purchase or you risk MrV’s problem (see above). It shouldn’t have affected it because I was paying with points. What screwed it up was using a manufacturer’s coupon that the system treated as my spend on the offer. They made it right. All’s well that ends well.
Yes, now they are not allowing offers to combine. I bought mostly Smartsense stuff and there is another promo in which you get 25% back in points on a Smartsense purchase of $10 o more, but I didn’t get that 25% extra when I did the $50 back offer - although in the past it did combine but I think now they are becoming smarter and trying to cut the losses.

They allow you to play 4 Wild Wednesday spin the wheel games each Wednesday. It used to be you would win all 4 games some small change, but now I am just two for four today and the games I won it was just a nickel each time.

No, the offers wouldn’t stack because the $250 back offer is a Sears offer and the $50 back offer is a Kmart offer. Two different stores, so no stacking chances.
Here is the Kmart $50 back offer for those who don’t know about it:

Er…how could you possibly know that? They filed bankruptcy 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow will be the first new month since the filing. I’m just awfully confused by that statement.
The part about a new $5 off $50 not appearing the next day is a fact. I made a purchase on Sunday and as of this morning a new $5 off $50 has not replaced the old one. As for me receiving a new $5 off $50 November 1, true, that has not happened yet, but every month for years they have always provided a $5 off $50 at the start of each month. I think I can count on getting at least that one, but my point was they are not replacing them after each use like they use to, for me at least. Nothing to be confused about.

If you did the $50/$50 at Sears that ended yesterday, the 2nd $25 installment will post on Nov. 18. So if you do the $25/$25 on Home the $25 back will overlap so will have $50 to spend.
The only Sears within 10 miles of me is closing, so I won’t be doing any Sears deals anymore unless they can be done online and are for a larger 100% back amount, so I can get free shipping. I only do Kmart deals now and only deals that pay out in their entirety before the end of the year.

Earlier in the year, when Sears was doing similar 100% Back in Points offers for high dollar spend, it was distributed equally over 12 MONTHS.
For this current offer of Spend $300+ on selected Major Appliances & Snowblowers, get $300 Back in Points offer, Sears’ website is showing that the points are equally distributed over 12 WEEKS, not 12 Months.
If that’s not an indication of the lifespan of Sears, I don’t know what is.
Yep. I would steer clear of any point offers that have installments that pay anytime next year.

Yes, I have noticed the same price raising at Kmart, too on many items. I used to use a lot of my points stocking up on basics/staple items. Case in point: I used to buy 52 oz Ajax dish liquid soap which was $2.99 about a year ago. Now it has increased in price to a whopping $4.49 (which is still today only $2.96 at Walmart).

You can do the deal once online and once in store - they are separate deals. My store is on the list of 142 too but has not started liquidation yet, so all the deals still work as normal there, for now.
Read down from that post.
Thanks, Maine. I would recommend doing this in store only as when you do it online you have to wait a month for processing and with Sears being on shaky ground, a month is a very long time to wait:

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
For the Kmart buy $75, get $75 in points deal I was able to double dip by buying $75 of Smart Sense items (kitchen trash bags in my case). I got 25% extra points (so in this case an extra $18.75 in points) for buying $5+ of Smart Sense branded items. I also went through Retailmenot. They had an offer in which you get $2 in cash back for a $50+ spend at Kmart.com, but doubtful I will ever see that money.

both @ukedog and I received our $2 back from RMN.
But that was before they went bankrupt, right?

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
Thanks for sharing, but do you think doing point offers now that pay in installments is a smart move given the company is bankrupt? With that said I think they are trying to stay open at least through the holidays, so maybe you probably have a decent chance of getting the 11/18 installment. I think I’ll pass though.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
There is also a strorewide in store Kmart offer: buy $35, get $15 back in SYW points., I believe this offer runs through 11/3/18. Points awarded next day. Points earned will be valid for 14 days. You can do this offer two times. Not nearly as good as the online offer, but just sharing.
Kmart sure has a steep markup. I bought a big box of Huggies diapers (size 6, 112 ct) today at Kmart to take advantage of this deal. It cost 35.99. I just looked on Amazon. The same thing sells there for about 26.50. So the $15 reward from this offer effectively got chopped down to more like a 5.50 reward when you take the price I could have got the same thing at Amazon into account.
I know the buy $75, get $75 ONLINE offer includes diapers, but online it is not giving me true stock information. It says my local and only store in my area dorsn’t Have the size I need in stock, but when I shop in store it is there.
I figure the soonest Sears would go belly up would be in January, so as long as these offers pay completely by the end of the year, I probably would not lose any money in points. I couldn’t help but noticing the Kmart $75 offer pays every 2-3 weeks for their installments, with the last installment paying 12/2/18, and not monthly like they used to. Maybe Sears realized that shoppers would be very hesitant to take the bait if they still insisted on monthly installments, especially past the end of the year. They must assume their shoppers read the news.

Sears, closing in on bankruptcy, nears deal for financing to stay alive until Christmas
Sears is planning to file for bankruptcy as soon as this weekend.
It is nearing a deal with lenders that could keep the retailer open through Christmas, so Sears could look for a buyer.
As part of the deal, Sears will shutter some of its stores immediately. -

@mrvietnam No offense but we know they’re filing this weekend. Big payment due on Monday and they don’t have the money. The questions are: Chap. 7 vs. Chap 11, what happens to points owed and gc. Right now its all speculation.
Actually the point of my post is that they are nearing a deal that will allow them to stay open through Christmas, so they can try to find a buyer while in bankruptcy. If that happens though, it’s anyone’s guess if the SYW program would still operate and if gift cards would be honored. The article says if they do stay open they would immediately shut 150 of their stores. I found the article a good read. It is very recently published just hours ago.

RE: SYWR Points Back with Purchase Offers Thread
Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Sears (Nasdaq: SHLD), is expected to file for chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sunday, reported the The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.
As part of the bankruptcy deal, the retailer’s lenders, which include Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC), Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC), and Citigroup Inc. (NYSE: C), would provide emergency financing of up to $500 million.
That lifeline, coming ahead of a Monday deadline to repay $134 million in loans, would allow Sears to continue operating.
Exactly how many of the company’s 700 or so Sears and Kmart stores will be closed is still being negotiated. However, sources told the Journal that about 150 stores will close immediately, while another 250 stores will be under evaluation and 300 stores will stay open.

PSA: You can still use Sears gc to purchase 3rd party gc. Last success reported within the past few weeks.
I am very very sad…
Can you use Kmart merchandise return cards to buy third party gift cards? I have a $30 merchandise return card I would like to liquidate. I guess no harm in trying.
What is the consensus out there, when Sears files, SYW points will most likely become worthless, right? I bet there is a disclaimer in the terms of the SYW program that it can be discontinued at any time for any reason and the points have no monetary value.
Good thing I didn’t do the $300 in points with a $300 spend automotive deal they recently had or any of the recent 100% back installment deals (which were many). I was tempted, but wisely didn’t pill the trigger. Maybe I will spend some of my points down by getting an oil change.
