I must have hit the jackpot. Playing one SYW Sweepstakes game (Wild Wednesday) I just won 3,500 points. That is equivalent to $3.50. Most of the time my few wins are only either 5 or 10 cents.

Believe it or not, I had to buy a 4 pack of AAA’s at the dollar tree the other day. Or course, a couple days later I did find a package of these but apparently it’s my last pack of batteries. Hopefully it will continue for a few weeks so I can stock up. I use my rewards almost exclusively on stamps. I like to think of it as buying needed postage, and getting the batteries free.

Yes, the coupon will double dip on the free items, so that should get you a good ways towards the needed $40. The DNA kit by itself will get you halfway there to the $40. Even if the free items don’t reach $40, there are enough good deals in the Black Friday ad that it shouldn’t be too tough to hit the mark. Since it is a coupon for $10 BC on a $40 spend I am pretty sure it all has to be in one tranny,

Normally I would jump on an offer like this, but these point offers are getting more and more risky, especially when they pay in installments, given the dire financial situation of the company. I also asked her why the rewards from yesterday (this week’s ink cart recycling) show earned but do not reflect in my rewards balance and she said the rewards certificate for those rewards would be issued sometime between the middle to end of this month.

My rewards are available for the purchase+recycle transaction last night.

Teally? I am still waiting on mine to become available from a purchase two days ago. They show in Rewards history as $40 earned, but have not been issued to me yet.

What are you all buying to satisfy the $10 requirement? I’m running out of options. Have enough bounty or charmin or trash bags in stock at home already. Regular priced items at OD are terribly overpriced. When i recycled my cartridges last Wednesday i saw they have the 21ct Airborne gummies on clearance, so i bought two bottles to meet the spending requirement. Later i checked online and realized i could have got 42ct or 72ct for that price or even lower elsewhere. So much for the “clearance price!”

I bought two transactions of the 8 gallon jugs of Crystal Geyser spring water. They go for $1.29 regular price, but only 97 cents after 25% back in rewards coupon. You will be hard pressed buying anything at Office Depot that you can’t get cheaper elsewhere. This is something we need and would have bought anyway. You have to take a little hit knowing you will make it up later and more when you get your $40 in rewards. Just a data point: About 3 weeks ago I stocked up on Crystal Geyser gallon jugs at Super King grocery store when they were on sale for 69 cents each. The last week of this month you can meet your $10 weekly spend by getting the 100% free after rewards batteries or k cups. Since that offer goes until 12/2, you can buy again on 12/1 ir 12/2 and satisfy the $10 spend for recycling for the month of December, too.

Not knowing what constitutes a new week at Office Depot, I think I will wait until Monday, 11/11, to try this offer for week #3. The ad runs from Sunday to Saturday, so most likely the new week begins on Sunday, but out of an abundance of caution I will wait to make my next $10 purchase and 10 cart recycling until Monday. Hopefully this is indeed a weekly offer and it is not just a misprint. I guess we will all find out together early next week.

Good. Then it looks like for the last two weeks of recycling we do not need to make the $10+ purchase. That will save some OOP of buying things we don’t necessarily need. No need to buy free after rewards batteries and have to pay the sales tax. So our of the 5 weeks of the promo, I made 3 $10+ purchases, but may not have to make purchases the last two weeks. However, I will look to see if it works for others tomorrow though before heading out and recycling without a purchase. The limit is 10 per week. The second set of 10 would be disqualified.

10 a week for the bonus recycling offer, but what about the normally monthly recycling program? That program allows 10 a month, Might be worth $1 in used carts to find out. Might be a $1 loss but also might make you $20.

Good catch on them also changing the starting date two weeks after the fact. Yes, luckily, I did get my $40 manual credit which posted about 4-5 days ago. I guess they were not happy with people trying to get credit for an additional $40 Week of recycling for recycling on 11/1 or 11/2.

So they have effectively changed this promotion from a 5 week deal to a 3 week deal. I wonder if they are going to change all the signs at the stores because all of them say the promo runs 11/1 - 11/30. I wonder how they can get away with changing the starting date of the promo over two weeks AFTER the fact. I guess they are going back in a time machine. I think initially when they said it started 11/1 they screwed up as the promo did not start being advertised until Sunday, 11/3.

I guess we should be grateful for what we got. Once again Office Depot has been much more generous than Staples was.

It says in the terms that the purchase and recycle needs to be in the same transaction, but like customer service told me early on when I called that is not actually the case. All that is required is the purchase happen in the same week as the recycling.

I would be interested to know what happens. Please inform after your return. If it were at Kmart or Sears they would actually take the amount of the used rewards out of your return, so you would get nothing back if you decided to return, but not sure how Office Depot handles it. Worked for my online in-store pickup order today. Just came back from the store, and it already says $40 earned.

So I guess even though the terms say the purchase and recycling have to be in the same transaction, that is obviously not the case. Customer service also told me that earlier in the month, too.

The Bonus ($40) should credit to your rewards account the next day. If you don’t get the rewards from the first week then you don’t have to do the remaining weeks.

This is correct. I made a $20 purchase on 11/3 and recycled 10 ink on 11/4 . Today I see $40 reward in reward activities.

Yes, not a bad deal. Each week this month recycle 10 cartridges and buy something for $10 you most likely don’t need and then get back $40 in Office Depot rewards. Wahoo!!!

I would contact rewards customer service and inquire. Did it show $80 for other people? I can’t do this offer because I recycled already on 11/1, but maybe someone else can chime and tell us if they received $80 when they did it.

If you spend > $75 on ink this week you’ll earn 25% back in Rewards instead of the usual 5%.
Unlike the online offers this one B&M only includes HP.
Recently all the online ink deals have excluded HP.

I hound ink is more expensive in store than it is online, about 25% more expensive in some cases. At least that was the case when I bought my Brother toner cartridge, so the 25% you get in Rewards will be about the everyday online price with no rewards to have to liquidate.

I miss FW.

Even on FW people kind of frowned upon this sort of thing. I miss FW too FWIW, especially this time of year when they had the Black Friday TShirt contest and they’d send out the shirts to just about everyone who posted a hot deal. Still have a nice collection of FW shirts and other stuff.

When is a week? Monday - Sunday?

I would presume Sunday through Saturday. Best to do it midweek just to make sure.

Yes, but don’t think any one saw it posted until Sunday 11/3, so unless you had an inside scoop about this, doubt anyone got the benefit of the deal on 11/1 or 11/2.

Luckily I recycled 10 carts on 11/1 and was told if I make a $10 purchase now they will give me a $40 courtesy credit for last week. It is true. This offer was not publicized until 11/3 even though it started 11/1.
