Embarrassed to say that I have too much cash sitting in non-interest bearing checking acct. So taking out the loan to invest the money would be smart if the $5k would otherwise be earning interest.

If I go with Ink I’d buy the prepaid visa cards, pay the dental bill with the prepaid visas and pay my Ink bill that month. I don’t carry a balance.

@mommyofhandk Doubt national health insurance would pay for implants. My uncle was a consultant living in Toronto for a few years but he would cross back to the U.S. for medical care.

if eg Staples runs a prepaid Visa offer I could buy $400 in prepaid visas, get the activation fee back as rebate and earn $20 on cc. Repeat x 10 and get $200 on credit card for the $4k. Pay the bill using the prepaid visas. Effectively paying $3800 instead of $4k.

@kohlspowrshopper See this thread as well. Not sure why it got marked expired. I was able to load a cart last night but decided not to complete the purchase.

@bbsearchlight I agree although there has never been an OD nor an OM in my state so I don’t have anything to compare to, what I’ve read it doesn’t sound like the cash out options for Rewards are any better. Buying postage stamps is just cashing out, its not MM.

Yes, Staples freebies and great MM deals have dwindled. They have at all B&M retailers.

So I just learned I’m going to need to spend $5K on dental care in 2018. I didn’t know that when I elected Flex Spending for 2018. My dental insurance will cover $1000.

I have an old HSA which I’ve been contributing to, after taxes. I’ve been using it as a sort of retirement acct so while it has 5K in it, I didn’t want to use it.

I was thinking of buying a bunch of prepaid Visa gift cards using Chase Ink (5% back) and paying the bill with those.

Anyone have any great ideas? Thanks!

Yes, that’s SOP. Its easier actually. You have to spend the entire reward so if you don’t want to spend $10 at once you can spend just $5. The expiration date will tell you which promo its for. The Canidae rewards expire Jan. 31, the bed in March.

@briarycliffs FYI: you’re doing this in the correct order. The Rewards for the Canidae expire 1-31-18. The Rewards for the bed expire in 90 days. So you’re using the first to expire first. If you decide to do the Science Diet offers, they expire Dec. 25 whereas the bed offer expires Dec. 31. Rewards for Science Diet also good for 90 days.

IDK what you were planning to get as a bed. Another of my cats is going to get this bed. Beige, gray and pink are $14.99. Bright blue (linked) and red are $9.99. To earn the $10 Reward we’re going to use just one $5 Reward and pay $4.99 oop. Need to have some oop to qualify for the $10 Reward.

The paper deal will not work, just tried it and received an invalid rebate from Staples Easy Rebates.Called rebate house and he told me that the free case invalidated the rebate on every case, I have done over thousands of rebates at Staples over the years, but I think I will call it quits, it is really not worth the trouble anymore.

When did you purchase? Last week? Scenario was reported last week and repeated this week. Surprised others haven’t posted about invalidations.

@dionaea well there’s always the remote car starter I’ve thought about it but not sure how it would work w/ manual transmission. I’d have to leave the car in Neutral I guess.

@dionaea I had a heated back rest. Plugged into the cigarette lighter. It didn’t last very long. It wasn’t a drain on the battery and I liked it while it lasted. I also had one of the travel mugs that plugs into the cigarette lighter. It sparked. Got very hot. Stopped using it.

I carry a couple of fleece blankets and a space blanket.

Its a bit of a MM after tax but I don’t like carrying 50 lb cases let alone 3 of them.

@dangeruss coupons are from emails. They’re $20/$60 I think. I used to keep the links but lately not since I have more than I need and there’s nothing I want to buy. In today’s emails received a $5/$5 and 2 $10/$50’s. Since you can’t use them on products that have rebates haven’t had much use for them.

@lenw I thought about that but I really don’t want 3 cases. I used to have more than 100 cases. Cleared them out and am down to maybe 3.

@dangeruss Well my other option is to buy ink for resale. That’s a break even. Nothing I can think of buying. I could wait for Xmas stuff to go on sale but I don’t need candy. Don’t need any household products either.
